@mike_84 @Fish Head If he's playing with Polak then Polak can be the stay at home while MDZ can be the puck carrier.

At what price and term would you consider to sign Michael Del Zotto? Looks like he could be a decent 3rd pairing D on the left sidebut what deal would make sense. He is a local boy so maybe he would be interested in being a Leaf.

@Bruffins Should be close but I'll take Gardiner as he is older and therefore may have a better chance to make a leap.

@Bruffins Doughty. He won me over during the recent Olympics and then solidified it through the playoffs. Best D in the game today. Although he was the #2 overall pick, knowing what we know today I would take him over Stamkos.

Excellent read! Great job Anthony! Hearing an interview with the Director of Amateur Scouting gave a lot of insight. I loved the questions that were asked and Dave came across as honest and forthright.

@DIGGLER _69 Disagree on Nieuwendyk. He did an OK job with the Stars but Nill has done a superb job since he arrived. You can see he learned well from Holland. Too bad we didn't get Nill. Watch out for those Stars.

@docmma @Fish Head @sniperstar @Burtonboy It really depends on the opportunity. If he knows he'll have a third pairing position and playing lower talent on opposing teams then maybe he would welcome the opportunity as it would be something he can build on in an effort for a larger contract next year. I'd try $1.25M for 1 year.

@wiski @Fish Head @dlb Mad I'd be fine with 3.2/yr for 2yrs. I think you would get more in a trade knowing he is signed for an additional year at a reasonable cost

@dlb Mad @Fish Head You may be right and on the other hand let's be really optimistic and say that he scores 15 goals, 30 points next year and plays his role better. Even though it's still a bad contract we may find more than one suitor. It may be wishful thinking but we need to find a way to get out from under that contract

@Bon Scott was a Leaf fan Even if Clarkson doubles his point total this season it's still a bad contract. If MacT still has a slight glimmer in his eye for Clarkson I would like to see us try and move him. I realize that he has a NTC but maybe after this past season and knowing what the next 6 could be like in this market he may welcome a move. If we moved him for Teddy Pucell we would only have Teddy for 2 years at $4.5M/yr so it would be much easier to swallow and the Oilers could use Clarkson's grit.

@Cameron19 @Fish Head @TheCanucksnaphook I like MacWilliam's toughness. He's also a bit older than Percy. That may make more sense especially to give Percy more development time before making the move.

@Cameron19 @Fish Head @TheCanucksnaphook Other than Percy, who else is left side on the Marlies?

1 week, 2 days ago on Weekend Mashup: $2.2 million apart

Reply

@Cameron19 @Fish Head @TheCanucksnaphook That part makes sense although I'd like to see Percy spend another year with the Marlies to continue to hone his skills. How about Holzer? My understanding is that he played the toughest minutes with the Marlies this past year and is in the final year of his deal before UFA status. He could be a nice trade chip before the playoffs if he shows well and we're not in a position to make the top 8.

1 week, 4 days ago on The Cody Franson Arbitration: What is he Worth?

Great read and very fair view from both sides. If Franson is rewarded somewhere in the 3.5-3.9 range I think he is still a valuable trade commodity. A 6'5" right hand shot who will hit and is still only 26 years old should bring back something of good value.

At what price do you walk away from Reimer? I'm guessing that the arbitrator will award Reimer somewhere in the range of $2-2.75M range. Considering that Bernier has never played a full season as a starter and didn't hold up physically for a full season last year it may be smart to hold onto Reimer for some time as insurance but at what price? I would think up to $2.75 may make sense. Even Scrivens is making $2.3 in Edmonton and Fasth (also with the Oilers) is at $2.9M.
