I realise this post is a little 'out there' for our blog but in an industry of constant change preparing for what may lie ahead is important for me and while the above is speculation it is based on real evidence that this stuff is happening, right now.
I'd love to hear other thoughts on how you think such developments may change our day jobs...
And what do you think the future looks like for Vine and other short video platforms? Flash in the pan or the new opportunity for brands?
@nick_eubanks makes sense. Do you ever tie conversion data into that mix?
Great tactical piece @nick_eubanks and thanks for taking the time to pen it. What would your fuller keyword review look like? Or to put it another way what would your next move be after pulling this data?
I realise that a transcript will miss some of the colour to this and so if you have any questions please do not hesitate to drop them in here and I will do my utmost to answer them!
Great post @benharper87. It's so exciting to see what social data trends can actually show us. How do you think social graph search affects this?
And how would you suggest knowing this could have helped HMV and Blockbuster survive?
Great piece Mark. So what you are saying is that it comes down to creating an audience of value around the content you produce? Makes sense to me and reinforces my view that the web is following the same evolutionary process as TV, print and radio. An obsession with the technology first that ends with retention via content.
@GiseleNMendez @zazzle_chris Thanks for the comment Gisele. And you are absolutely right. Link profile understanding is critical to avoid networks. A lot of this concern is placated via the social sharing route as active social accounts usually indicate that the site is real. That said we always run a reverse IP lookup to check what else is on the server alongside link check.
Working in the same office as Chris I know how much pain has gone into refining the process we now use. Some of that learning is captured here, so thanks @zazzle_chris for sharing. Does anyone else have a view on key metrics to track when evaluating sites?
Sadly I couldn't make this one but @lcshanks and @jo_pricey did and it sounds like there was some great stuff shared, particularly around use of language; a key component of any content strategy!
Great roundup @adamjamesmason > a few talks missed due to an early train but otherwise it's jam packed with actionable goodness. I really felt the conference was the first I have attended that really flexed digital marketing's broader marketing muscles, showing itself a a true marketing discipline. Great event @kelvinnewman
@Nick Ker Thanks for sharing this and taking the time to include so much detail. I'm sure @HathawayP will appreciate it. I sense some real frustration! If you want us to take a look for you let me know. Happy to try and help.
@Marie_Haynes thanks for commenting Marie. I know a lot of work has been done across multiple indexes. I think what hurts for @HathawayP is the fact that these links are many years old and the result of poor practice by long gone employees in an era where many perceived it 'acceptable' to build bad links!
@HathawayP @s_rvll refreshing indeed. As for the quotes I'm a little lost having not seen the most recent!
@jamesagate @hathawayp thanks for the share James. Dollar Shave Club proved the power of 'cheap' video and this is really useful. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing this @HathawayP. It's rare that a business opens up like this and tells the story of the impact large scale Google changes have on people's lives. If anyone else reads this and has a similar story please share it here...
It's great to see a piece concentrating on the basics. I think we often get carried away with selling the advanced stuff but laying the foundations is key to making the later stuff work well.
Great post by @jo_pricey, her first on the blog here at Zazzle and its one borne from real life experience. Few have done as much outreach as Jo so worthy of a read.
@rjonesx thanks Russell for commenting. @AdamJamesMason did a great job of it.
