Det. James 'Sonny' Crockett: Things go wrong. The odds catch up. Probability is like gravity: you cannot negotiate with gravity. One day... one day you should just cash out, you know? Just cash out and get out.
@WalktheDawg Whisky He'll be fine. I'm typing out of turn (i'm not there and I don't know). I think the issue in Pruitt's defense is effort, hustle, and technique. It's not "body type". Grantham would play the big body regardless of effort/ability (I'm sorry, Kwame. But there was a huge talent gap between you and John Jenkins). it's easier to give Pruitt what he wants when you are leaner. But I don't think the weight is a pre-requisite. Just the effort for the entire drive.

@Dapper Dan Man @meansonny Good reply. The good take-away that I have is that he can be asked to do either...He can be asked to make the big play on a big down where we need "x" number of yards. But in years past, he was also a deep threat. He has that threat to make a single-coverage defender miss and create havoc in a backfield.I think we'll see him in that ball-control style. But it only takes one home run a game to leave a reputation for a receiver. And I do think he'll get that. He'll that that 1 opportunity a game to destroy a defense. And over the course of a season, we'll see that yards per catch finally creep upConsistency might not be there every game. But the big hits will come. And his draft stock will rise because of it.

Any late night thoughts on Malcolm Mitchell? Are we going to see the amazing possession receiver that we've seen the past few years?Or, is he going to be the type of player that we wish we saw from a full 14+ games from AJ Green?
Just one of these nights for me.Who knows... it'll probably be thunderstruck tomorrow. But tonight, it's the feel good blues.
@JHD=Keep ADGM @meansonny Good for him. I think Ben Jones has been at G since he left Athens.
@TXDawg I think 71 yards led that game and 45 yards was the leading receiver as well. Go Dawgs! Showing out.
Does anyone have a comment about how Boss looked today?I caught a minute of the game, and no Dawgs were in (looked like a showcase of louisville players for whatever that means).I couldn't keep the wife's attention with it when the Dawgs weren't on the field.
@JHD=Keep ADGM @meansonny @TXDawg Awesome. I've got my fingers crossed on this one. From the sounds of it, we have definitely put our best foot forward with him. Nothing left in the tank and we can't have any regrets.

@TXDawg I'm sorry. I'm late to the website. Who is that in coverage?
@Lakedawg maybe. i get confused with radi's podcast and this other podcast. one is dawgcast. one is dawgdial. the one that is not radi is the one that i'm thinking of (i don't know the name because i don't listen to it anymore. waaaay below grade on this podcast)

@Lakedawg I understand where it comes from. One podcast in particular with a guy named "old dawg" is one that drives me a little nuts. He acts like Richt/UGA goes out of their way to de-emphasize OL recruiting. He's got a podcast and I don't. He might know examples or things that I don't. But this isn't a draft. This isn't a salary cap. Recruiting a kid and the kid saying that he wants to go to Stanford is not de-emphasizing OL. Recruiting a kid and having him flip to Ole Miss after an official is not de-emphasizing OL. Recruiting a kid and having him not qualify is not de-emphasizing OL.
@therealdray He used to be our running backs coach. That usually goes hand in hand with being a top recruiter (of course... he was pushed aside, so it obviously wasn't clicking on that level. but we still thought enough of him to try him there).
@Mae_ka_dudi @JHD=Keep ADGM If money were results, Tennessee fans would be correct about their team winning the conference over the past 25 years.
@SUWANEEGEORGIA (WelcomeCoachSchottenheimer) @Bleudawg @Socrates B.Kronas: Is For Sale @Lady C @JHD=Keep ADGM This is a common theme on boards and podcasts. Maybe I'm completely wrong on this one. But the argument against richt on this one is based on the results... not the reality of how recruiting works. I pull my hair out when people say he doesn't care about recruiting the big guys (and yes... the results are far, far, far, far from where they need to be).
@SUWANEEGEORGIA (WelcomeCoachSchottenheimer) @Bleudawg @Socrates B.Kronas: Is For Sale @Lady C @JHD=Keep ADGM That's not how recruiting works. This isn't a draft where each team picks their need on a round robin basis. I don't understand how people say that mark richt doesn't care about offensive linemen or that he doesn't prioritize them in recruiting. I understand that our results in recruiting are the basis of this thought. But this isn't a draft. This isn't a salary cap. Go after everyone and focus on the kids who seem like a good fit and are willing to listen.
@JHD=Keep ADGM That almost looks like a Maryland uniform concept (j/k)
@Mae_ka_dudi @highcotton @Socrates B.Kronas: Is For Sale @ColumbusRednBlkDawg We had a ton of youngsters step up in 2011 (Bennett, Mitchell, and Conley had a few clutch grabs). But they were incapable of developing into All SEC performers (possibly because all of them have fought the injury bug in their careers). Is the lack of All Conference because of recruiting, coaching, or injuries (throw Marlon Brown and JSW into the mix regarding injuries).
@Bleudawg I'm only half watching the game. I understand crowding the line... but it looks like the Buckeye running game is working too (not just the QB making things happen).

@goatdawg @dan765 I thought she went to LSU?
@SUWANEEGEORGIA (WelcomeCoachSchottenheimer) I was hoping to see a lot of that type of play with JSW or Mitchell. Heck... even Sony coming over from the slot. High completion percentage and getting playmakers in space with an ability to do something after the catch.
@WalktheDawg Whisky @Cheerwino Yeah. The promotion from QB coach to OC was a stretch at the time (for a program as big/good as UGA). But he was obviously a 'rising star' and the investment in him was worth the stretch. The man has given UGA everything to this point (he might have even lost one of his kids on campus a time or two).

@JHD=Stay Bobo Damn. I sent her a pm a couple of days ago. Now I'll never know what to get my wife for Christmas. :(Seriously, I think Brice will be fine at UGA. Maybe not the coach at UGA that they want, but they may find the coach at UGA that they need (start bat signal).
@good2badawg @Socrates B. Kronas hahaha
@HeelDawg @ManOnFire After watching the promotion success of guys like McElwain and Malzahn, this is obviously the right answer (as opposed to the success of guys who have taken jobs at Mississippi State)
@HeelDawg @ManOnFire This is honestly the first serious offer that he has been given. Nailed it in the interview. Good for him.
@BryanDawg87 You mean that Hunter was cc:d on the contract emails? Shocking.
@TXDawg This is UGA. I'm positive that we lose another DB. (sarcasm)
@therealdray He's playing in the MAC. It's not the PAC10. I think Bobo will do fine. As a matter of fact, I'd be surprised if he's there after 4 years. Colorado State is a much better landing spot than Mississippi State.
I don't know about that. Swann had a very good sophomore season under Grantham. unfortunately, he was asked to be a lockdown corner in his junior year. And that just doesn't play to his strengths. Pruitt was smart enough to recognize how to use playmakers, though.

@goatdawg @meansonny @dan765 I like the idea of him getting reps against the #1s all year on the scout team, though. It's a great opportunity to get a closer feel for the speed/strength of the game.

Gentry said that there was a great buzz about him when he showed up for workouts. But that buzz vanished in camp (not a peep from other players about him in camp). Gentry implied that 'not a peep' isn't bad. But it doesn't stand out as top scout team member (there can only be one, and I guess it wasn't him).
@goatdawg @dan765 Everyone forgest Lamont Gaillard for some reason. Is there anything being unsaid?
@Tree1 @meansonny He saw the majority of plays against GT. They had our front 7 in a tizzy.
1 month, 2 weeks ago on Conversation @ http://www.fieldstforum.com/classic-city-cavern-uga-chat/ccc-121414/
@Tree1 @meansonny We honestly attacked UF much like we attacked Auburn. We were not aggressive. We stood on our blocks and tried to stuff the play when the ball came by (a common way to play against a mobile QB so that we don't open up huge running lanes). The difference was Florida's ability to hold (legally if you want to call it that) and beat the snot out of us with it. Maybe we should have been more aggressive. But aggressive and in the wrong gap can be deadly, too.
@34Dawg @Tree1 @DC Dawg @JHD=Free Gurley @TXDawg It looks like the ball gets up real quick with him (something that appears important to Richt).
@Tree1 I like Carter out there. But he too has to learn to read plays better. He got sucked inside a lot and lost contain. I don't remember looking at him and thinking he got physically handled... but it appeared like he was guessing at times and he guessed wrong. Playing as a true freshman is tough. I'd love to hear Mr. Jenkins thoughts on the challenges that Jordan faced and how those challenges evolved throughout his career.
@DC Dawg technically... everyone could look elsewhere. no?
@Tree1 You have to look at how difficult the job is.Playing the end in a nickel defense (4 man front) has to handle contain. That is hard enough sometimes when playing a good right tackle. It gets even harder when you are facing a double-team (we all saw Jarvis Jones get washed way outside in this at times).Playing OLB in the 3-4 defense (often a 5-2 front against a running team). There is still the right tackle to deal with, but there is better leverage by the linebacker and less of a chance of an effective double-team. There is also less responsibility trying to effect a dive play while out so wide.Playing a star/slot position. You are matching up against a tight end or Michael Bennett type run blocker. Even if there is a pulling lineman, you have space and leverage to make a play.Floyd is a matchup nightmare as a star/slot defender (you can call it a 4-3 OLB if you want when Pruitt's defense plays against a diamond formation / veer formation). Floyd is going to struggle closer in the trenches in a 4 man front (just like Grantham's defenses struggled against the run when spread out to a nickel defense).
I saw a highlight reel on Sage Hardin come out (per 247). What are the ccc thoughts from the film?http://www.hudl.com/v/DTZkp

How far is he from the degree? he'll be a full 4 years through this fall. and players don't get to drop classes like the rest of the student body.

@meatball i'm listening on arky radio. it sounds like missouri is run blitzing to force more pass plays.
@JHD=Free Gurley @meansonny I'm sure either is fine. I'll read up through the link. The chat works fine.
@JHD=Free Gurley @meansonny How about it? Do you have a link for the Film Room podcast? I'm technically challenged, today (I get to say that every day)
