Anyways, I think Sonny Koufax should be acquitted of all the charges. If O.J. can get away with murder, why can't Sonny have his kid? - - - This guy knows what I'm talking about! No more questions!

@dan765 Gaining experience over the course of the season will come in handy by Auburn, as well.

@JHD=Free Gurley @meansonny Defensive style... I'd guess Florida. But Auburn puts up points and that changes the way an offense attacks a defense. Because of that, Auburn is a much more dangerous opponent.
@JHD=Free Gurley @meansonny Florida and Auburn have the two toughest defenses remaining (obviously). Florida is better at turnovers (which can swing a game). Auburn is better at keeping opponents off the scoreboard. Both are solid against the run.
@JHD=Free Gurley best for us or for them? ha
@therealdray I like the idea of blitzing cornersbacks against the run. It can be telegraphed. But you've got speed into the backfield to disrupt the timing of the play.
@JHD=Free Gurley That's the last thing I would do (8-9 in the box).4-3 with the linebackers and safeties off the line. Crash them down on the snap. You have to attack us with angles. Bodies jumbled up on the line of scrimmage just gives us more home-run plays.
@JHD=Free Gurley @meansonny Thanks. That was a confusing way for me to word the question. I know that the positions shuffle from base to nickel. I was just curious if we are throwing out the same starters from Tennessee to Vandy to Mizzou to Arkansas in their respective schemes. It sounds like we've made 1 adjustment. But for the most part, it has been consistent and not tinkered with on a game to game basis.
@JHD=Free Gurley @meansonny By difference, do you mean now versus the beginning of the season? Thanks.
I haven't watched hardly any film this season. Do we have a starting 4 DBs in our base? OR a starting 5 DBs in our nickel? Or does it change from week to week (i.e. Missouri is different than South Carolina. Or Arkansas is different than Vandy)?
@RaleighDawg @Mae_ka_dudi I was so glad to see Arky go to the air. The last type of opponent that we need to face is a desperate team willing to go 3 yards and a cloud of dust with 4 downs all the way for 60 minutes. The more a team goes to the air, the more good things (and some bad... but the good will be turnovers and give us the game) we will receive.
@Mae_ka_dudi I feel that same way. Any team can beat us on any given Saturday. But it will be more than likely that no team will want to face us again when the game is over. We're a frustrating bunch. And will punch an opponent in the mouth.
@JHD=Free Gurley @meansonny @TCJDawg That's why football players file bankruptcy. Uncle Sam gets their 45%. What's another 10%? Right? Gurley won't be that naive the second time around.
@JHD=Free Gurley @meansonny @TCJDawg I'm positive that momma didn't get a check for $700 (unless by momma, you are referencing his girlfriend through some jewelry and a night out).Would you rather have $40,000? Or $40,000 less 10%?
@JHD=Free Gurley @meansonny @TCJDawg LOL. Think about it. What is an advance? It's a loan. Honestly, the agent gets a cut back.So long as momma isn't in the hospital needing money for surgery, he's playing for UGA.The kid is angry at a wrong. he wants to make it right. And that is only done on the field (hopefully in the Georgia Dome).
@JHD=Free Gurley @meansonny @TCJDawg Agree to disagree on the 4 games, then. [cheers]
@darksidedawg That doesn't sound like Gurley. He's bringing the pain train. He wants to hit someone asap. It's what he does (whether it is Florida, Auburn, or a team in the Dome... he wants to be The Man).
@JHD=Free Gurley @meansonny @TCJDawg Gurley is a lot like Herschel. He runs angry. If he's not running angry, he's building it up inside. He needs to take that anger out on someone. Florida, Auburn, a team in the Dome...He'll be back. (UGA bought insurance, so that part is covered).
@JHD=Free Gurley @TCJDawg I hadn't quite understood this logic.Gurley appears to be very vested in this team Mistakes be damned, he is a leader. Why would he walk away from a team in a team sport? If you enjoy the competition, then get in the competition.
@Lady C Great interview. Thanks for sharing.

@nickmac6 You will probably see a 5-2 front with Josh Dawson on one edge (maybe Drew) to try and force things back in for the pursuit. Jenkins might actually move inside to keep the speed on the field. It would be wrong to try and match power with power against Arkansas. Putting a guy like Dawson (254 pounds on the edge) could be key. Putting a quick first step like Jenkins on the inside could disrupt a lot of timing with penetration. We want to penetrate into the backfield without losing contain on the edge. Quickness... not strength... is more vital to penetrating into the backfield. We just can't let them get outside and running into our DBs out on the perimeter.
@nickmac6 They were in nickel and we were in a 4 man front using 2 OLBs. Thornton and Bailey were the DTs. Jenkins and Floyd were on the edge. They weren't just gashing us up the middle. They ran away from us on the edges. My point being that speed is important when you are tracking down an athletic tailback. I don't expect us in a lot of nickel based on what people are tellingme.
@nickmac6 small is a relative term. Who did you see on the line against USCe? Who is your perceived bigger line?
@JHD=Free Gurley @RaleighDawg @ManOnFire does anyone have the punishment for the baurle situation? There aren't a lot of gray areas with integrity. Especially when it comes down from the AD.
@ManOnFire I'm sure he wants to win more than anyone. But his job is to hold the Arkansas to fewer points than we score. If he's worrying about this, we already lost. Rule 2 of fight club: focus only on what you can control.
@ClassicCityDawg2010 @goatdawg dumbass doesn't realize that you can win football games by running the football. he obviously doesn't read fsf.
@ClassicCityDawg2010 @goatdawg I don't know that he hates UGA. According to himself, he watched a few minutes of fall practice and didn't like the way that Mason looked. Based upon that one set of drills, he has picked against UGA every game this season. He's probably 1-5 on those picks. So take his future picks worth a grain of salt.
@Ricky "El Gringo" McDurden Good piece. But I don't agree. I bought UGA #3 jersey waaay before Todd Gurley. I watched football games started by walk-on tailbacks (referencing TV revenue). And I've never bought merchandise from a school other than UGA. It's the colors that I cheer for. I liked Marcus Lattimore. But I never once cheered for the guy. I can't agree that I would be a Gurley-man if Todd played for the Toronto Argonauts instead of the Georgia Bulldawgs.

@Toc33 @meansonny I'm anxiously waiting for noonkick.com to come out with the replay. Noon starts and fall baseball don't jive with me right now.

@Toc33 Do you have a link on it?
@ClassicCityDawg2010 I don't mind the penalty. I know what the powers that be are trying to do. It's the ejection for that type of play that is sad. There wasn't much wrong with JJ's efforts on that play. And there are helmet to helmet collisions between the tackles much worse than that on almost every snap which the league (and everyone) are perfectly happy with. But it is what it is.
@DrTiki @meansonny @WalktheDawg Whisky Winston, Manzeil, Griffin III, Newton... Ingram was the last RB and Bradford the last pocket QB.
@DrTiki @meansonny @WalktheDawg Whisky It's always the QB. Maybe that's why I don't worry about it. A QB who can run/pass and have those highlight moments will probably win it this year.
@WalktheDawg Whisky @meansonny Ingram's 2009 season: 56 yards against FL Int'l ; 91 yards against N Texas ; 50 yards against arkansas ; 99 yards against tennessee ; 30 yards against auburn. Nothing to worry about regarding the Troy game.
@WalktheDawg Whisky @meansonny I just looked it up. 1 RB winner the past 10 years. Mark Ingram in 2009. December will not be a referendum on Troy.
@WalktheDawg Whisky @meansonny We'll see what? I guess I don't know what you are arguing.
@WalktheDawg Whisky @meansonny It's a big country. The door is wide open because the West Coast watches west coast. Midwest watches midwest. East coast watches east coast games. My point is that ESPN highlights that get replayed on 8 networks 2,000 times is more powerful than the stat sheets comparing a PAC/WAC schedule versus an SEC/ACC schedule. Different leagues have different styles, and the stat comparisons don't typically carry as much weight in my book.
@WalktheDawg Whisky @meansonny My brain was too alcohol soaked to remember 2001. I'd say that we are pretty unique having a Todd Gurley on our roster. You might be right about a run:pass ratio, though. Although, I don't know what the point is. Our offense has been a little bit of everything since 2001.
@WalktheDawg Whisky @meansonny highlight videos in big games have a more significant impact in my opinion. There are lots of stat leaders left in the dust during heisman voting. 4 letter network highlights carry more weight.
@Socrates B. Kronas @meansonny She's had nightmares for about 2 weeks. I tell my wife that it's because of the South Carolina game (my wife reminds me that halloween movie promos are coming out on tv).I have nightmares about checkered orange and rocky top. I'm a child of the 90s. It's my cross I bear. Gawd I hate em.
@Socrates B. Kronas My 8 year old daughter has been complaining for 2 weeks that Sandstorm has been stuck in her head. I laughed and said... it can be so much worse. I played 2 versions of rocky top, and she screamed to turn it off. ha
@WalktheDawg Whisky @meansonny because it was troy. he won't lose the heisman because of the troy game. i promise you that if it is your concern.
@WalktheDawg Whisky @meansonny I'll agree to disagree. Each game stands on it's own, in my book.CMR has been here for 14 years. Since CMR has been here... you can say anything and it will be correct. 14 years is a long time, and any argument can be supported during that timespan (positive and negative arguments all included).
@DrTiki @Lady C Wren will be fired for listening to the fanbase (who were screaming to open up the checkbook and sign large contracts to free agents). He should be fired. But the ATL fans need to look in the mirror on this one and remember what was said about the franchise a few years back.
@WalktheDawg Whisky @meansonny I hadn't been on here in over a week. I really haven't seen anybody gloating over a shutout on 247. I probably just missed it.I'm usually more focused on the last drive of the game. Much like in basketball, it's that last possession that determines the winner (i.e. South Carolina and not getting the ball back)
@WalktheDawg Whisky Why the focus on just the first drive?
@highcotton @meansonny @007Dawg=Tuck Fech!!!! I'm with you. I liked football when defensive players could clothesline a player. And the head slap was still legal. But this is a reactionary society. If football didn't "react", things would get ridiculous like it has with the NFL and domestic violence.
@highcotton @meansonny @007Dawg=Tuck Fech!!!! There are other ways to attack the play. But none of them would be coached (low hit). He was a step behind, and that didn't allow him to make any play on the ball to dislodge it. So he speared himself at the receiver. There isn't anything else to my knowledge that can be coached other than to keep the face mask up. If he's there a step earlier, he's got a claim for the football and leaving his feet doesn't get punished if he's going to separate the ball from the receiver.
@007Dawg=Tuck Fech!!!! @highcotton it looked to me like the facemask was down. And the helmets hit first (which is understandable because the head sticks out 12 inches in front of the shoulders). Was he trying to lead with the shoulder? Yes. But the head was down and it was helmet to helmet. It's a pretty clear call (I know... how many helmet to helmet collisions get ignored in the trenches per game... 500? But this is the rule, and the call went along with the rule).
