@CUbsfanI think you're a little too excited about learning about people's flight itineraries, hoss.

NHL on the Fly on NHLN and Quick Pitch on MLBN used to be similar, but have devolved in the past two years. NFL used to have NFL Replay Real-Time, but they're completely off the rails on NFLN now. There's no reason a show of this caliber can't exist for every sport.

@Thom SteinBizzle Steinberg sorry you feel that way.

@DanielOrmsby@CUbsfanDo you mean this release, where it's said that McDonough is the main Wednesday announcer but the play by play guys will rotate? http://espnmediazone.com/us/press-releases/2013/03/new-espn-sunday-night-baseball-crew-to-call-two-mlb-season-opening-games-in-less-than-24-hours/

ESPN's tennis coverage does this a lot with Patrick McEnroe and either Brad Gilbert or Darren Cahill, then Pam Shriver playing traffic cop with either Chris Evert or Mary Joe Fernandez. There's something to be said for a play by play person with chops playing that sport. (Terry Gannon is a traditional pxp on ESPN's NBA coverage who played the sport in college, for example)

Yep, someone getting hit with a projectile sure would have been hilarious.

@DanielOrmsby My bad, just checked them again and yours are correct.

You have the Fox games jumbled again. Gus Johnson's crew is doing Oregon State-Stanford, Bolerjack's is doing Kansas St-TCU. Also, Tim Brando is doing the early CBS game, not Spero Dedes.
Berman. I don't find Millen aggressively horrible, Craig James is off my TV, and voting for Skip Bayless acknowledges that he is an important thing.

I remember when College Football Final (and it's previous iterations) was must see TV at the end of a college football Saturday. Now it's turned into Lou Holtz and Mark May making the same tired yelling points about Notre Dame (and I say this as an Irish fan), while Rece Davis is in a robe for some reason, and 90 second highlights of like five games.
There was another horrible segment where Rece Davis jumped up on a table to wake Mark May/Lou Holtz up to mock Pat Fitzgerald's team nap. Followed by 30 seconds of actual Nebraska/Northwestern highlights.
I hadn't been watching the show this year and finally caught an episode of it on Sunday morning. I didn't realize it had gone this far downhill. What happened to making highlights the focal point of a show, with limited reasonable analysis to follow? Instead, everyone who's on ESPN (including the hosts) has to be turned into some kind of embellished cartoon personality. Every show has to have its own idiotic branded segments in lieu of actually showing what happened in sports. It sucks.

Tessitore's going to be doing the new package of Pac-12 games ESPN has (he has BYU-UW and Ark St-Ore in week 1), along with some SEC games (Georgia-Mizzou week 2). So no, not 5:00/5:30 starts.

@DanielOrmsby You could probably even argue that BTN has downgraded in talent, at least in football. PTN did a nice job here.

So, I guess screw the people who actually liked catching CFB Live (which can be good at times, and actually contains you know, news) or a replay of a game at that time, huh? Instead we'll probably get more people yelling at me and twitter pandering. Awesome.

ESPN only cares about placating egos, not what the intelligent viewer cares about. This move only serves Chris Berman.

Everything I want is available online or on a sport-specific channel. Why would I sit through 20 minutes of NBA highlights or 10 minutes of garbage on Tebow just because I like, say, SVP and Buccigross? Sportscenter is just in general a dying model to me.
I disagree on the Neil Everett/Stan Verrett pairing. It's terrible and one of my first realizations that hey, I don't need to make an effort to watch Sportscenter every night.

@versatile103 you mean like NBC Sports Network? Or CBS Sports Network? The idea is appreciated, but it takes years to gain rights/respect. I feel NBC is taking the right approach even if the ratings aren't there quite yet. ESPN's never on in my house unless I'm watching live sports on it. No interest in watching people yell about sports when I could be watching sports.
