People who say "send the amateurs". Here's the problem with that: other countries still send professionals. Guess what, Kovalchuk still plays in this game today if there were no NHL players allowed. He's in the KHL now. Still a pro though, just not an NHL'er.
How would it be fair for us to be stuck sending college kids, while Russia could send KHL players? or other Euro players can send pros from their leagues?
It would be going back to the pre-NHL days of when the US kept getting screwed by being stuck with using amateurs against pros.

Yeah I hated so much when he was in Pittsburgh. Still remember him scoring on a penalty shot and then scoring late in Game 5 to beat us back in the 1992 playoffs. Then there was the Mario/Jagr double hat trick game to eliminate us in 1996. He even scored the game-winner in OT 1999 in Gretzky's last game. He just killed us over the years. But that hatred went away when he came here and along with Hank turned our franchise around. He made us relevant again, made us matter again after so many years of being an terribly irrelevant organization. His 2005-06 year is the best year I've ever seen a Rangers player have, and there is a good chance that will remain so for a long time. Its too bad he was screwed out of the Hart Trophy that year. He performed well in the 07 and 08 playoff runs. I'll always appreciate what he did for us. When his career is over, I hope anytime he is shown on the jumbotron at MSG he gets a nice standing O.

@NH_NYR_88 Just being a realist. I hope we do go on a Cup run but this years team hasnt given me a reason to believe they are capable of such. We've beaten the Pens how many times the last few seasons? And we'll suddenly beat them 4 out of 7? After a full season of us being mediocre? Like I said, I hope it happens but I wont be confident until being given a reason to be.

I guess if you want to go to a playoff game, better make sure you buy tickets to Game 3 or 4 of the 1st round. Those will be our only home games this season.
Not sure if this comparison has been made yet...but minus the shortened season doesnt this remind anyone alot of 1992-93? 1991-92 we had the great season winning the Presidents Trophy, our first really great regular season in years. Strong playoff run. Expectations going into 1992-93 were sky high for a Cup run. It just didnt happen. Players underachieved, injury after injury happened, the coach lost the players and the team just totally crapped out. Yet it seemed to really galvanize the organization going into 93-94, we found the right coach, some personnel changes were made and of course we all know what happened that year.

Sather has to do something big this offseason. We cant go into next season with essentially the same roster as last year. We cant play the same style of play we did last year every night....it wore the team down as it got late in the season (just check their record from mid Feb thru the end of the playoffs. We also saw how the team couldnt sustain a full 60 minute effort towards the end of the reg season and in the playoffs). We need to be able to rely on our offense to win some games, and not have to win every game 1-0/2-1/3-2 and treat every single game from October thru June as if its Game 7 of the Finals.
We simply cant win a Cup next year playing the same way we did last year every game. Gotta add offense.

Yet Boyle gets 17-18 minutes of ice time when he makes mistakes left and right, and generates no offense. Same with Prust.
To these posters defending the treatment of Kreider...let me ask you this...do we get past Ottawa if Kreider doesnt start getting more ice time in Game 6? How about how great the Kreider-Stepan-Cally line looked from Game 6 Ottawa-Game 3 Washington? Do you not see how much that invigorated the offense? Kreider gets his time slashed, that line is broken up....and now we're back to "1 good line, 3 lines that do very little" and it makes it easy for Hunter to line match against our top line. Kreider-Stepan-Cally is at least a line that you have to plan for. Kreider's speed gives us another dimension and he makes things happen.
The line combos last night were awful. It was like watching a one legged man in an ass kicking contest.

Kreider was the X factor in the Ottawa series. His speed totally changed everything in Games 6-7 for us. If that doesnt happen, Ottawa beats us. Kreider again played well in Games 1-3 vs Washington. Game 4...he makes one...ONE...I repeat ONE bad pass (which btw wasnt that terrible...if Hank stops the shot like he does 99/100 nobody ever talks about it) and all of a sudden he's down to 5 minutes a game. WTF is this nonsense?? He's taking away time from a player who's made a difference. Meanwhile, the useless Boyle gets 17-18 minutes a game and he's done nothing since coming back from the concussion--well other then mishandling a pass that setup Laich's goal in Game 5. The line combos tonight were awful. AWFUL.
I'm so pissed at our coach right now. He did not put his team in position to succeed tonight. Combine that with the team playing flat...and it equals a loss.
If Kreider gets 5 minutes again in Game 7...we're losing. Book it.

I'm sorry the Richards penalty was bogus. If they are gonna call that...then also send Carlson to the box for diving. Dude fell to the ice like someone shot him in the back. Gaborik was also clearly hooked on the same shift right before that play, when he was driving to the net with Richards attempting to connect w/him.

They also have both Game 2's on Monday night. Knicks/Heat at 7, Rangers at 730. I mean....seriously??

Ottawa looks like the better team right now. Their offensive pressure is something we dont seem like we can handle. The 2nd period was basically one long PP for Ottawa. Our decision making when it comes to clearing the puck and breaking out of the zone is HORRID.
And the dump and chase game for us, an area you would think we could dominate the Sens, isnt very effective. Ottawa gets the puck out of their zone fairly well...they are winning all the board and behind the net battles.

Kreider is going to play at some point. Maybe its this round, perhaps its later on if we advance. There's no way the org is burning a year of his ELC just to have him skate at practice and watch games from the luxury boxes.

Biggest douchebag bitch in the league. Without a doubt. Calling out Callahan, who's generally regarded as one of the classiest players in the league. How dumb can you be? I hope someone out there, I dont care who it is, pulls a "Stevens knocks Lindros into dreamland" type hit on this guy in the playoffs. He deserves it.

@erichan I can tell you Flyers, Devils, Islanders and Bruins fans all agree with us for sure.

The Pens are above the rules...Bettman has his lips permanently attached to Crosby's ass.
@not_Yanni Typical Pens fan....I'm willing to bet you think Orpik's hit was clean, right? And the Pens never do anything wrong, right?
1 year, 11 months ago on Penguins 5, Rangers 2- | April
I'm so sick of the f*cking Penguins. This team is full of crybaby, arrogant, whining dbags. The dirtiest team in the league BY FAR. Hypocritical owner who complains about his team getting hit w/cheap shots, yet his own team is delivering them all the time. THREE straight games now a Pens player has gone knee on knee against an opposing player. Crosbaby and Malkin are always getting away with stuff on the ice....yet them, their coach and their entire horsesh*t organization act like they are saints. Second class organization with third rate fans. They win one Cup and their fans act like their sh*t doesnt stink. Terrible frontrunning fanbase that was nowhere to be found when the team was losing games.
I cant even get into arguments with their moronic fans because they are all so delusional. "Oh you're just jealous" "you would trade you entire team for Crosby and Malkin!". Gimme a f*cking break clowns. Such arrogance that starts from ownership, down thru the team and thru the fanbase.
You know you have to be doing something wrong when Flyers, Rangers and Devils fans willingly unite against you. I dispise the Flyers...but I hope they goon it up and beat the sh*t out of the Pens. If not, at least soften them up for us or Boston.
Biron really shouldnt start again until we have everything clinched. Hank's had plenty of rest this season.

@maxie @Beckfan5 I'm sorry, I think Bickel is terrible. He's been playing at an AHL level for several weeks now.

Why the hell does Bickel remain in the lineup? he's been AWFUL for awhile now
