Except it's not a deus ex machina (that's not what it means). D.E.M is an event that conveniently happens out of nowhere or an act of god some kind of god helping mortals to resolve something. So for example if in Victory of the daleks a meteor would have destroyed the dalek ship out of nowhere that would have been a deus ex machina. The sonic is a convenient plot device at best.

Hmmm interesting. Even more so since as much as i can remember Cyberman were never the main monster in a series finale since the show returned right? I mean they were there but there was allways another one besides them like Daleks and Daleks (or others).... This "gurdian of the nethersphere" looks like an evil Mary Poppins.
I think the “half human on my mother’s side” quote is not more reliable than the doctor's age in the RTD era or how the Master is the doctors's brother, so i wouldn't count on that as any kind of proof.

The article is pretty much true, however as Moffat said, the kids like to get scared sometimes. I guess the kids nowdays are more tolerant with darker stuff, because of what they watch on tv or play with in games. Now i don't say the Doctor should turn full on dark, but i'd like to see the doctor take himself a tad bit more seriously. Basically the exact opposite of Matt would be just fine. While 11 was overall childish but sometimes he shown how serious he can be, 12 should be an overall serious character with a childish side similarly to Sean Connery in Indiana Jones. And yes, Clara should not come out of her adventure all happy and lucky. I personally really like her so i hope she won't die, but she should leave the doctor with experiences and conclusion(s) equally bad an good at least.
1 month ago on Should Doctor Who Adopt a Darker Tone?
Even tough the poster is kind of strange (for example, i just can't figure out what Clara is doing with her left hand) i kind of like the color scheme. It's like on of those tad bit over exposed photos from the 90's. Capaldi looks like a super history professor from an archeology seminar saying "now let's go and dig up some relics!" and Clara as his assistant or best student (or even daughter) accompanying him.

I really like Clara, but it's hard to explain why. She has just this energy to her combined with her big brother-little sister relationship with the doctor. They bicker, they make small pranks on each other (even the TARDIS plays pranks on her) and they are like partners in crime more than traveler and companion. Not to mention she convinced the doctors not to destroy Gallifrey. Also, companions. I just watched the daleks invasion on earth (with the 1st doctor). How cool it would be if Capaldi's 12th doctor would go back to visit Suzan and David and 12 would be like "It took some time, but i said i'll come back right?". I would scream like a little girl.

The tunnel wall will suck in people or something.
There is barely any morph between Matt and Peter. Are you sure he is not Matt from the future or something lol? :D The Rain trailer is amazing!

I watched this episode last year and i don't know... I know the fans will probably hate me for this, but i found this story average and sometimes overly cheesy and i think Tom Baker is overall a pretty boring doctor.

@doctorclu Theta Sigma isn't his real name tough, but i like the idea how you handled the half human part. It's believable and doesn't break the rules of the show. Sounds kind of like Melody pond.

@RebelTimeLord Robin hood was a real person. It isn't entirely fiction. Robin hood was a the name given to a lot of outlaws, but the actual one from the stories existed too at a certain time, but i don't actually know when. Later this persona was merged with the others in folktales and that's the robin hood you know from the books. But the person actually existed.

@Djornad @RobertLythgoe Or the Valeyard. Don't forget him.
@Ryan Nicholson No, Robin Hood did exist. Actually a lot of Robin Hoods existed. The folk tales just merged them into one person.

I don't know if it ever happened in the show, but if it isn't then i'm the only one who wants to hear the doctor speaking in Gallifreyan? I mean we already saw how they write, but we never heard them talking their native language. And i am pretty sure it isn't English with those characters for an alphabet.

@Notsosmartguy Deus ex machina literally means "Divine intervention". So it's an event when a god/goddess or an avatar of god/goddess appears and does some godly stuff. It does not have to be a good thing, but in prose, it's usually is. In this case it's Alien ex machina :D

The Valeyard would be quite cool too. He supposed to appear somewhere around this time, and now we know the time lords are alive, a time lord enemy, not to mention a form of the doctor that consist of his dark emotions sounds extremely appropriate. He was even mentioned in the name of the doctor even if it was just Moffat's one time impulse. A Darker doctor vs An evil doctor sounds so much fun.

How about the whispermen? They are kind of the "anti-silence" in looks and we know nothing about them except that they helped the great intelligence. They look really cool and i'd love to see them turned into a more complex, more threatening villain.
