@John at MrSEC @ConnGator Ok, that was funny (even though I was not trying to spell "ugh".
You should be happy I read what you write so closely. And as I have said before you do a fine job covering the SEC. Relax, it's almost Friday.
You had me going with this post until your 8th-to-last word. Ug.
Ah, we will see. Was there for the Florida game last year, not nearly as loud as Auburn, Tennessee, or my Gators. On the other hand, they were the most polite fans I have met in the SEC.
Was louder than SoCar, though.
@WillieT While I still support a 9-game schedule (partly for the selfish reason of wanting to see more quality games) I think your last paragraph is spot-on as long as we are at 8 games. How about a Pac12/Big12 vs. SEC challenge in the meantime? The weakest 2/4 teams in SEC can opt out.
@JarrenBlake Nothing against Louisville (they wanted the Sugar Bowl more and beat Florida soundly), but they did not play the same schedule that Kentucky did. If they were to go undefeated this year would you put them in the title game over a one-loss SEC team?
"Florida officials aren’t thrilled with the prospect of having to play an East Division schedule and LSU each year, but the volume on Gainesville groaning hasn’t reached LSU proportions yet." Can someone provide a link for this? Was it Muschamp, Foley, or somebody else?
Thanks
@Mr_Travis_McGee That why the divisionless setup makes so much sense. You preserve rivalries (except, Ole Miss/Vandy and ironically the LSU-Florida game), and every team save Auburn has a combined winning percentage of permanent rivals within .020 of .500.
Impressive, considering it was originally conceived by a Georgia fan.
@Speedy98 Actually, for Florida and Georgia a 9 game SEC schedule results in 4 home and 4 away games. I know we are in the minority, but that works for us.
Also, the more I think about it the more I like this: http://www.teamspeedkills.com/2013/4/30/4282852/sec-nine-game-schedule-no-divisions
Auburn was Florida's first choice back in '92, LSU was our second most-played team that ended up in the West. Unless we give up divisions I am all for keeping the LSU rivalry.
A nine-game conference schedule would solve both problems.
Think this would be punishment enough?
EFA has ordered Lazio
to play its next two home matches in European competition in an empty
stadium as punishment for a fourth offense of racist behavior by its
fans this season.

" We?" I did not ask for it, thought the old system was just fine.
What stands out to me is that all the teams at the top have multiple SEC and national championships except UGA.
Ok, Tennessee has only one national championship, but still. Richt, where is the finish?
@KellyJones2 @Speedy98 LSU / Florida is not fair? It is more fair than, say, LSU / Kentucky every year.
No we just need an SEC - Big 12 football challenge. Make it happen!
@j_scott_o@HoustonVol Why not include Director's cup (all-sports) rankings? Scrolling down to page 5 here I see Florida in the lead and Alabama in last place. http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/nacda/sports/directorscup/auto_pdf/2012-13/misc_non_event/apr4DIconf.pdf
Dang, UGA only played 8 games of football. It's a wonder they made top 4.
Um, how about the opponent? If Oklahoma were there the game would have sold out in a heartbeat.
Loathe though I am to admit it, FSU had a similar problem.
Pick your poison? Why can't we have both? There are four non-conference games. Keeping one for a rival (FSU, GaTech, etc), add one SEC game, and you still have two cupcakes. Adding a conference challenge still gives you one paycheck game. I just think the conference should change every two years.
The weakest teams (Ole Miss, Kentucky) can opt not to play when we play conferences with less than 14 members. And when we do play 14-member conferences they will play the weakest teams. Makes sense and good football.
EIther one is fine with me. If we do 3 primary, 4 secondary, my guess is Florida would want:
Primary: UK, UT, Vandy
Secondary: Bama, UGA, LSU, MSU
