If that is the future of humanity, then I'm scared because it tells us that in 35 years, nothing will have changed. Humanity's instinct will always be to destroy. The moon is capable of being destroyed by nuclear weaponry. If we really needed to kill it afterward, we could attack it no problem. But no, humanity decided to kill it before it even had the chance. It's upsetting, to say the least. You'd think in another 35 years that our generation would make a different decision.

@Antee991166 I wouldn't mind some deviation by having the Doctor played by an Irish actor (not too far away from the British plus I'm biased because I'm Irish, and you could play up the "Gallifrey is in Ireland" gag a lot).
2 weeks ago on Downey Jr on Who Role: “Anything’s possible”
As much as I love the Doctor and more specifically THIS Doctor, he abandoned her on the moon in 2049 with nuclear bombs and one of her students with the intent of giving her the ultimatum of either not blowing up the creature(and having to trust he'll come back even though HE JUST ABANDONED HER) or killing herself by blowing herself up. He didn't come back until the very last second. Clara was terrified, and Courtney was also there, a completely innocent schoolgirl left to die. I'm gonna have to vote Clara on this one this one time. The Doctor needs to learn a lesson this time. Still, LOVED the episode and the Doctor's negative morals. I like that he's darker, I like that there's danger and lifes being left in the balance, I love it. But of course, loving a character does not make that character a good person, it makes them a good character. "Am I a good man?" No. Doctor. No, not right now.

The ratings don't matter, and even if they did, they don't affect Doctor Who that much. It's not a case of less people watching, it's a matter of more people recording to watch later, and BBC knows this. Anyone worrying about Doctor Who being cancelled is NEEDLESSLY worrying. There's no basis for the assumption that the show will be cancelled, it's doing better than ever, AI ratings or not.

@The_Eternal_Dalek @Gustaff Actually, unlike America where any and ALL usage of music has to be licensed, British TV are allowed to use a song ONCE without paying a single thing. Only repeated usage is charged as far as I am aware.

"Especially one chosen to represent the 20th Century" Rose may have been born in the 20th Century but since Doctor Who came back 2005, I feel the need to point out that technically she's representing humanity in the 21st century.

I honestly don't think Clara is doing anything bigger than any other companion. Just because her timeline meets the Doctor's at a few points doesn't make her more or less narratively influential to the Doctor than any other companion, it just means that she has just met the Doctor a bit more, but in SHORTER bursts. Other companions stayed on the TARDIS long term, whereas Clara is coming and going.
1 month ago on Open Discussion: Is There More to Clara Than We Think?
@Oodkind It won't. Back in the days of the 6th Doctor, going dark was a bad move, but now it's both more socially acceptable and because of recent events and stuff, it's more relevant to the character.

@stargazer0118 @YaelMoise Or worse, the Valeyard. If you listen to the audio "He Jests at Scars..." it features a what-if of what happens if the Valeyard wins and it features him going back and correcting past Doctors' mistakes, including destroying the Daleks at their beginning like The 4th Doctor was tasked to do.

@stargazer0118 @ilyootha @yoshfiction @YaelMoise Clara knows the Doctor has that specific space suit, she's seen ELEVEN wearing it during "Hide" so it's likely that when he picked up Orson, he had Orson put it on when he sent him outside to fetch Clara from her date with Danny. Simple explanation.
@stargazer0118 @Ottoman14 But he still is. Protector of the weak, defender of peace. But at ANY costs. He is the Doctor who seems to be going the direction of "I'd kill 100 to save 1 million". He's correcting his mistakes. He's let too many enemies get off without consequences. Now he seems like he's not going to let it happen anymore. Save the world at any cost.

@WhoFandom @TerraceArchimedes @Scootersfood Yes, but it was a CHOICE that the War Doctor was making. He was CHOOSING to die. There was likely enough time to make it back to the TARDIS, but he was choosing not to. He was choosing to go down with the planet.

@MisterMeanour The connection is the fact that the US had to lose two of their own to beheadings. Airing an episode of a show a few days later showing someone being beheaded would be insensitive and possibly trigger some people and upset some people. It has nothing to do with the connection of sci-fi and reality, it has to do with the fact that two people were beheaded, and showing a beheading in a show shortly after would be considered insensitive. Just like they choose not to air certain episodes involving quakes, tornados, or tsunamis when there are recent disasters involving similar events.

This was such a hard decision for me. I watched 9 and 10 but never really loved 10, and there wasn't enough of 9. So Eleventh Hour and 11's coming made me really excited because it was the episode that made me realise how much I loved this show. But Deep Breath is slightly better in my opinion. So I've voted for Deep Breath. 12 is very much already starting to shove 11 aside for my favourite Doctor.

We all know what 10 said. He got worse, he talked people in taking their own lives. I imagine 12 does this without remorse now. He's sick of giving second chances. Like with the Wooden Cyberman. He DIDN'T lie. He said he sent a signal with the Sonic Screwdriver. He DID send the signal, and then tricked the Cyberman into thinking it worked by verifying the signal itself. The screwdriver doesn't work on wood, of course, and the truth field prevents lying, so the Doctor used the screwdriver and sent the correct signal but manipulated the Cyberman into verifying it, itself, so it'd kill itself. I reckon the Doctor is going to be like this.

@DasManiac Doctor Who was a show made for kids in the 1960s. Its biggest demographic remains, to this day, kids. Yes, yes, I know there are lots and lots of adults and such watching it too, but the point is, it's a show made for kids. To completely ignore the larger part of its demographic would be ratings suicide.

@Antee991166 @TheOncomingStorm I think people are reading into that in the wrong context. When Moffat said it wasn't just Cybermen, it was more about that the story wasn't purely Cybermen, not necessarily indicating that there's a secondary monster. I personally read into that as that the Cybermen are certainly a big part of the finale, but it's more about the entire story, not just the Cybermen.

@bl0ndie98 Yeah, but he was also burning up and dying through use of his own life force. That was explicitly stated. He could easily have died right after returning to Gallifrey. And although I hope he didn't, I honestly would like him to stay gone for a few years. You need a good reason to bring him back and at the end of The End of Time part 2, The Master had redeemed himself and become technically good. So a good Master isn't all that fun to write. Leave it a few years, let the NEXT showrunner bring him back. The Master's death brought the beginning of Moffat's era. So I'd like to see The Master come back at the end of Moffat's tenure when he passes the show to a new showrunner.

To be honest, I'd love to watch an entire series in the cinema. Do a special deal, like 50 euro/pound/dollars for a special ticket to see all 12/13 episodes in cinema over the 12/13 weeks as opposed to just 12 euro per showing.

@TomTurner66 Tons of people are against Capaldi. It's just that as a reverse of the norm, us positive people are more vocal about liking him than before when it was more negative people being vocal about Matt even though way more people liked him than disliked him. It's a matter of the positive/negative being vocal and while the most vocal with the 12th Doctor think that he is going to be amazing, there are a lot who don't like him for some odd reason. Which is stupid, really, because we've yet to see him in action.

What if the 10th episode is the Peter Jackson directed episode. It's highly unlikely but the fact that it's the one without that information revealed and the stuff about the finale is already revealed, it'd make some sense.
@Ryan Nicholson Kate is supposed to be an authoritative figure like her father. She's leading a bloody army, of course she's going to be authoritative. To make her any less so would make no sense for the role that she plays. She leads UNIT, she needs to be like that.
3 months, 3 weeks ago on Series 8 Finale Filming: Returning Characters & Monster
@Oncoming_Badger It would have been horribly oversaturated and 3/4s the episode would have involved nothing but setting up all of the Doctors meeting and trying to give them all sufficient screen time to warrant them being there. You also have to remember that bringing back people requires TONS of money because none of them would have done it for free. If you honestly think it's that easy, then I don't know what to say, you're wrong. It's hell trying to organise and pay for TWO Doctors, nevermind 3 or more.

@Lemonhead118 That a VERY huge assumption considering we haven't seen a single episode yet. @Wimsey Those events were never rewritten. They always happened that way. Gallifrey was NEVER in a time lock. The Doctor only THOUGHT it was. The reason he still couldn't reach it is because it's stuck in another universe, sealed away. The events of The End of Time occur BEFORE the The Day of the Doctor in the timeline. Rassilon's plan happened before The Doctor wondered about using The Moment. Which means that The Master went back to Gallifrey BEFORE it was sealed away in another universe by the 13 Doctors and their TARDISes. So nothing was rewritten, there is no timeline changes. The Master is with the rest of the Time Lords, and since he's with them, the only way he's coming back is when they come back.

The nanocloud converts all living things into Dalek. The reason the insane Daleks converted her into a full Dalek was because she was highly intelligent and they could use someone like that as part of their ranks. However, it was NOT the Paradigm Daleks that converted her, it was the Daleks on the asylum planet.

@Moves Like Jagaroth I would describe Rings to be a story of self-discovery. It showed Merry what she was capable of, it showed that The Doctor is not always capable of saving the day, and it showed that normal people like Clara have the potential to be so much more. Rings just screamed "story of self-discovery" to me, for some reason. It just showed characters at low points, and at other times, high points. It showed them being faced with challenges and stepping up to them, realising the CAN step up to them.

@Moves Like Jagaroth I've known MANY fans to find time to simply find all the flaws in episodes simply because they dislike Steven Moffat. In fact, they specifically intentionally look for flaws just for another reason to hate on him.
@Amy the Consulting Key Ring It could also just be a case of the TARDIS not translating for Clara(effectively the viewer's POV) because it didn't seem to like her yet.
