Bottom line, in my opinion, if the neighboring countries and surrounding territories of the Middle East wanted to do something about this conflict they would have decided to handle it already.  Two years into this and the bloodshed goes on.  There is more than enough money, power, and influence within the region that circumstances could have been changed a LONG time ago.  Assad's regime has, without a doubt, crossed the threshold with their actions and the rebels are not helping their cause with the most recent video of "Hannibal Lecter's Fava Beans and Chianti greatest hits."  Nice post MG.

#1:  The threat has spread and the enemy has and IS learning to adapt their methodology.  The cyber and chemical threat, in my mind, is on the horizon whether it be at ground level or state-sponsored.  The bombings in Boston were something I KNEW was coming at some point and it was only a matter of time.  In a free, democratic society the balance between comfort and security is a fine line.

#2:  Afghanistan will remain the practically lawless territory it has always been for centuries whether we remain their or not.  It is the "Wild West" of the modern era and I do not see that changing anytime soon.  Iraq may have lost a dictator, but has created a perpetual, unstable vacuum of those who will always wish to de-stabilize its government at any chance they can.

#3:  In my opinion, not enough has been done to embrace any part of the Muslim culture.  I think a larger part of Americans are partially told by the media that they may be lookled at unfavorably that they are or have friends who are a part of the Muslim faith.  Blaiming an entire society becuase of the acts of few is just sad on so many levels.  Another way to look at it is Muslim extremism is to Islam as the KKK is to Christianity.

Brandon is right......circumstances need to change because the same track of music has been playing for while now and it's getting old.....fast.

Interesting to see that report came from Beale AFB in Marysville, CA. just a little north of me from Sacramento.  Beale handles a lot of ISR and has for decades ever since the SR-71 and they still operate U-2's, among other assets.  Nice work allowing everyone to come back in one piece.

@Virginstateofmind  That was what I was referring to in my last sentence by Chris helping others through his charities / foundation(s), such as providing gym / fitness equipment to those who needed it, along with other endeavors he did after his military service.  You could also tell from his book that he truly enjoyed his family and knew what it meant to him.

@MR151 @SleazyWeazel True....Chris gave of his life to help others 'til his death.  His actions on the battlefield not only saved thousands of lives, but also by helping others in need here back in the states.  It should serve as a testament in helping your fellow man, being a good person, and learning to do the right thing even when no one is looking.
