@thefrostqueen @twoheartsonemind I'm hoping they'll eventually do some mini-series starring the Fourth Doctor or some others.

@Malohkeh @EricPavlat That isn't a fact. They compiled the facts correctly. You're talking about the validity of the test itself, not the accuracy of the facts therein.
@Malohkeh @EricPavlat What facts in the scare-quote-statistics-end-scare-quote are incorrect?
I actually tried to post the Wikipedia link to "Confirmation Bias" here, but the Livefyre system deleted the link. :( You'll have to search it yourselves. Sorry. It's worth the read, though, and it's terrifying to know it exists and that we all have it.
Okay, so basically, everyone's saying, great job, because we already loved Moffat, so the test is therefore invalid. Welcome to confirmation bias, folks, one of the most frightening psychological phenomena in existence. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias
@Notsosmartguy the Superior Venom @jlocoleman I would, if they'd only release those missing episodes. ;)

Sally, Lady Christina, Timothy Latimer (from Human Nature/Family of Blood), and Rita. The only one from the list above I'm interested in having join the crew is Jenny.

Wow, I'm honestly curious how this week is going to turn out! Utterly fascinating. I wonder if we're going to end up with different rankings than we did when ranking them individually?

The Girl Who Waited. Amazing, amazing episode with nary a weakness to be found. Watching this the week it came out, one could actually believe this would be a status-quo changing episode. An unfair, gut-wrenching episode that really makes you want to haul off and punch the Doctor. Extraordinarily good. 2) Midnight 3) The Doctor Dances 4) Blink--and the fact that it's down at #4 lets you know just how good week 10 really is!!!
@supermoff @Baker Street No way, The Girl Who Waited is waiting for your vote. ;)

1) Family of Blood. I cannot watch it without an overwhelming emotional reaction. Possibly the best acting in any episode of Doctor Who ever, though Matt Smith challenges him in Doctor's Wife, and we don't yet know how good Hartnell's acting in The Massacre was. 2) Forest of the Dead, 3) Empty Child. I've not seen Satan Pit (which I want to) nor Night Terrors (which I don't want to).
That was reeeeallly difficult. 1) Silence in the Library, due to the amazing proliferation of creative elements (River, Vashta Nerada, the "two worlds" with their parallel stories). 2) Human Nature, which blows away any story from week six. 3) Father's Day, an amazing story brought down only by the rather daft time creatures. (I still haven't seen The Impossible Planet, but it's on my list.)

A Good Man Goes to War, coming in at 4.5 stars. A solid episode that actually answered some questions and had some great character moments, as well as the whole range of emotions. 2nd: 42, a clever concept for an episode. 3rd: I abstain, as week 7 seems to have been really week (though I admit I've never seen Idiot's Lantern).

@StephenAHayes I wonder if there's a "clean" shot of this one out there somewhere?
The Doctor's Daughter, just because no one else was voting for it, and it legitimately shows Donna being brilliant and figuring out something the Doctor couldn't. Plus, Jenny suddenly reveals a LOT of psychological baggage Ten has to deal with in front of Donna. Brutal honesty. Now, Dalek was a better episode, but Doctor's Daughter had a lot of strengths, too. (3rd place: Bells.)

Girl in the Fireplace. Time of Angels was good, and Doctor's Wife is very good if one skips the Harlan Ellison bits. The only other one I really enjoyed from this lot was The Sontaran Stratagem, but ... it's really not in the same league, is it? :)
1 year ago on Series 1-7 Face-Off: Episode 4
Durned no-edits. The reason I love Unquiet Dead is because we get to see the Doctor mess up big time due to his guilt over his role in the Time War and his status as last of the Time Lords. He makes a tremendous error in judgment in his eagerness to help--or rather, his eagerness to erase his guilt--, and the earth almost pays a terrible price for it. We don't get to see that very often, and it was an important character moment for that season. Kudos to Gatiss.
1 year ago on Series 1-7 Face-Off: Episode 3
Hmm. Not a five-star episode among them, and plenty of clunkers. My heart says School Reunion, but Unquiet Dead is probably a better story. Unquiet Dead it is, then.
What a great selection! "The Shakespeare Code" was my first-ever NuWho episode; "Fires of Pompeii" was superb; and "Day of the Moon" was a five-star episode. But for me, you just can't beat the creativity of ... Dinosaurs! On a Spaceship! Not everyone's cup of tea ... but it sure was mine!!!

" Impossible Astronaut." Plastic Mickey kills "Rose," can't stand "New Earth," straw-sucking vampire too silly in "Smith & Jones," same with Adipose in "Partners in Crime," personally unimpressed with "Eleventh Hour." "Asylum," though, was a serious contender. "Astronaut" won out (in my heart) for the sheer timey-wimeyness of it.

I opened the post wanting to understand the arc better, and was honestly frustrated at how many times I had to re-read things, wonder what was meant because there was no subject or no verb, etc. You did a lot of research and you obviously understand the arc far better than I do, making it a shame that I didn't understand every detail the way I'd wanted to.

Mr. Fischel, please use proper grammar if you're going to be writing about such nuanced things as time paradoxes. The sentence fragments often make your meaning either imprecise or unfathomable.
Appalled Time was that high. Love all the others.

Wow--I'd definitely argue that The Girl Who Waited was a Doctor-Lite episode. And one of my four or five favorite Smith episodes, as well. Just a coincidence, I'm sure. :)
1 year ago on Are Doctor-Lite stories the best of Doctor Who?
Nothing here I hated, though I never understood why other people thought Amy's Choice was so wonderful; seemed utterly predictable to me. Thrilled that A Christmas Carol did so well! Absolutely astonished that The Time of the Doctor hasn't shown up yet, given all of the negative reviews that came out at the time, so I know I'm not the only person who disliked it.
1 year ago on Best of Matt Smith: Results (19-13)
As I predicted, Dinosaurs today. Ah, well, I knew it was just my personal taste. My other disappointment is how well Time of the Doctor is doing; I'd hoped it would show up by now. Awful episode, other than Handles.
1 year ago on Best of Matt Smith: Results (26-20)
@JJ2000 Rings was yesterday.
I'd thought more people had changed their minds about Rings, so I'm pretty happy overall so far. None of my favorites got panned so far, and several of my least favorites did. I'm very curious where my two controversial favorites, The Girl Who Waited and Dinosaurs on a Spaceship, are going to end up (though I suspect, sadly, we'll see Dinosaurs here tomorrow).
1 year ago on Best of Matt Smith: Results (33-27)
The results are in, and they're oddly skewed. A score of "5" meant "average," right? So why is the lowest episode of all ranked higher than a 5?
1 year ago on Best of Matt Smith: Results (39-34)
Average score 5.33, so the season should get a 5 ... but I'll cheat and give it a 6 anyway, because I don't want the awful Doctor/Widow/Wardrobe to count against it. :^) It included some truly excellent stories, including the season-opening Silence two-parter, The Doctor's Wife (if I skip the frankly unpleasant Harlan Ellison sequences), A Good Man Goes to War, and my favorite Moffat-era-but-not-by-Moffat episode, The Girl Who Waited--all eminently re-watchable.
Unfortunately, there were also Curse of the Black Spot, Let's Kill Hitler, Night Terrors, Closing Time and the two-part Flesh tale (not counting the Christmas disaster), lowering the average back town to terran levels.
And I did enjoy this year's subplots--Who killed the Doctor? Who is River? How can Amy be both pregnant and not pregnant?--more than I did season 5's smiley face.
1 year ago on Best of Matt Smith: Series 6 (2011)
I really only enjoyed three stories this entire season: I gave the two-part Angels story 8/10, Pandorica/Big Bang 10/10, and Christmas Carol 10/10. Everything else was between 1-5, for me, leaving an overall score of 4 for the season. I'm afraid Matt Smith was just never "my" Doctor.
Have I mentioned I'm looking forward to Peter Capaldi? :)
1 year ago on Best of Matt Smith: Series 5 (2010)
Can we vote on some of the minisodes, please? I honestly love First Night/Last Night and would give that 10/10 if I could. Oh, by the way, Time got 2/10. It would have been 1/10, but Handles raised it up a point.

Most. Goosebumps. Ever.
1 year ago on McGann in the 11th Doctor’s TARDIS!
@Gustaff You kept me from typing the same thing. McCoy did a great job. The speech just doesn't work for the Fourth Doctor. Whoever it was that said you can just write the same dialogue for any Doctor and it's up to the actor to make it their own is wrong; they really do have different dialogue patterns, and this speech is just as wrong for T. Baker as it would be for W. Hartnell.
7.5/10. I rounded down to 7 because Moffat never satisfactorily resolved the cliffhanger and he didn't give Eight a face-check, merely a fractional tie-shot.
1 year ago on Best of Matt Smith: The Name of the Doctor
Average episode. I enjoyed Matt Smith's Gollum/Smeagol take, and I appreciated the face-check on the prior incarnations of the Doctor. I also liked the creepy cyber-worm thingies.
1 year ago on Best of Matt Smith: Nightmare in Silver
Great article. One per year would be perfect. Yes, please do this, BBC! Challenge your writers! We have so many cultures right here on Earth that the Doctor's never explored on TV: ancient Japan, Egypt, sub-Saharan Africa, India, South America! Make this happen!!
