The Pacers are the only team far enough under the cap to absorb all of Kaman's contract and save the Hornets )and by extension all the owners) all of Kaman's salary this season. They can send a 2cd. round pick with Lou Amundson or a young cheap prospect like Lance Stephenson. There is no way Houston has an edge on the Pacers if the Pacers want Kaman. Houston has to send back more salary then the Hornets want in order to get Kaman.

The only trade idea I really like is for Kaman. Kaman's next contract will likely be for less then he's getting now. If he were already signed for the next 4 years at 8-10 mil per year, I'd be happy to give up some assets to get him. Since he has the right to walk away next summer, I think your idea of offering 2 second round picks is more then fair. The thing is that Miami can't just pick up Kaman if he's bought out. He has to clear waivers first, so all the Pacers would have to do to get Kaman if he's bought out is to claim his full contract off waivers. This might be the best way to go since they wouldn't have to give up anything to get him. I think the Pacers are the only team with enough cap space to do this.
