Easy front runner for halfwheel's packaging award for 2013. Head shot on a Zombie on a cigar box? Brilliant.
@Tatuaje This is what I love about our industry. Great information, especially the "romancing up" the blend components. Priceless.
$219 includes 24% Indiana OTP tax, and we discount our boxes for mail order sales, so I think the MSRP before taxes stayed about the same.
Hmmmm, I wonder what he wants for it? Sound like a Kentucky DerbyMobile.
Did he forget to tell you about the Match Cigar Bar special for the Kentucky Derby this year?....LOL
@imcubanpete @JeffMouttet @Capttrips Respect. I blow off steam all the time, too, and sometimes I go too far myself.
As a matter of fact, I had to edit my original response to your post about 10 times to make sure I didn't go too far...LOL
Take care, long ashes.
@imcubanpete @Capttrips So, one cigar misses and a guy that has spent the last 40 freaking years making stellar cigars gets blasted? I mean, really, I'm all for "whatever works for you" and I understand the internet giving voice to all kinds of opinions, most of them anonymous, but this is a little harsh, don't you think?
Maybe if you met, knew, talked to, or otherwise had an occasion to deal with Ernesto, EIII, or anybody else in the Carillo family, you'd have a different opinion. These are good people. So, a cigar missed. Not every cigar is going to be great, and not every cigar is going to fit your profile. To disparage an entire company, and Ernesto's reputation is ridiculous.
Just my 2 cents.
@Jonathan Drew @AronL Joining the scrum on the side of "fairly priced"....LOL. This are the flat out BOMB, and the guys that have smoked them at our shop are begging, I say BEGGING for more. Actually, just come down for the Kentucky Derby, we'll be sure to be able to talk Skippy out of one. Or two.
@Cigar Guy @JeffMouttet You're on. I LOVE this idea. Maybe we should publish our results. On a cigar blog. #justsaying
As a shop that carries all but 3 of these, I have to disagree with "Cigar Guy". Most of this stuff is here to stay, and I, for one, am very glad to see it this way. Good job, Charlie, Brooks, and everybody at halfwheel. Special shout out to Clint Aaron, Skip Martin, Michael Rosales, Jon Huber, Mike Conder, and JDrew. You guys are the reason our shop is what it is! Thanks!
@Jonathan Drew @JeffMouttet June 18th, brother.
Thanks, Charlie.
@RoMaCraft @Brutus2600 @Holman It's all in your palate. Or, as some prefer, "pallette", or "pallet".
There are very few objective things about a cigar. The quality of the leaf and the quality of the construction are the two that strike me off the top of my head.
If you're not talking about those two things, it's just your opinion.
Jon is a good dude. I would assume it is hard to put your heart and soul into a product that you believe in, and then have somebody trash it. Face it, all it takes to be a blogger is a website and an opinion. Some blogs are great and have in depth, knowledgeable, fair reviews. Some have illiterate Gurkha lovers writing hit pieces on anything that doesn't fit their particular palate. If Jon has an issue with that, I don't know that I blame him.
"Just wonderful people to be around, talk to and smoke with." <<This. A LOT of <<this. Great people, that happen to make great cigars. Keep up the great work, guys. See you soon.
Only 20 comments? Well, 21 now....LOL
I've got a 1 in 21 chance of of winning JD swag.
Awesomesauce.
@AronL I don't disagree with that. However, this case is egregious. Only a trademark attorney could argue that "Headley Grange" infringes on "The Grange". Headley Grange is a specific building in London, not a reference to "The Grange" which is a "nonpartisan fraternal organization that advocates for rural America and agriculture" whatever the hell that means. Now, if the owners of the mansion in London sued for trademark infringement, in my humble, not a lawyer by any means opinion, THEY would have a case. The farmer dudes? Not so much.
