@Planet of the Deaf @Ottoman14 no, it was more than that- it was him defendign the universe from the time Lrods returning and all those enemies and what their return right then would mean, him realizing that staying can mean necessary experiences and good things, him defending the Time Lords from being destroyed by all of their amassed enemies, and him going over the cliff of change. It's a heady psychological leap for ANYBODY, let alone a being as complex as the Doctor. ;)

@GRANDMARSHALL I liekd him in the blue ensemble best. It was really pretty and suited him better, in some ways.  But the oclors served as a psychological symbol, a manifestation of his hard regen and the consequences thereof. we mustn't forget that when hwe judge it. the way Moffat writes sometimes undermines hsi character development. This sad fact undermines the rest of his writing. other that that, it is great, in my opinion. Clara has got to be related to the TARDIs in SOME fashion, and though I obsess about character connections when they interest me, I cannot squeeze the whey out of that particular rock yet, and it IRKS MEEeeeeee. unless Clara is actually the Doctor, and the Doctor is... the Valeyard. ba da TSSS! heheheeh. stop whining; i say this preemptively.

@PaddyB @Malohkeh yeah, i agree. Backstory fleshes out the character. even hints of backstory for a character meant to be mysterious would be better than just having it thrown at you, like Moffat is wont to do. I like Moffat, but... ARGH. he's arrogant if he thinks that all we have to do is look. There are some things that need connections to be more visible in order for the mind to be psychologically satisfied and he never gives us that. it's annoying. but it won't make me stop watching. sigh.

@Pipnant yeah... Moffat is good, but he exhausts people too much. The connectivity in shows BEFORE HIS REIGN is there for a reason; to prevent exhaustion from overthinking, becuae the connections, you know, are there, subtly. Moffat doens'teven bother to provide that vital foundation. he just seems to assume that only people who think like him matter, which is indeed poor storytelling. sigh. if he didn't do that, it would be perfect. its exhausting. I want really badly to not be exhausted. my life does that enough, thanks. I like and understand some of what Moffat tries to do, but this is too much. I hope Capaldi isn't let down by Moffat's whirlwindedness. I;m not saying lay it out, just add in a few more of the foundationary ideas, so people don't keep slipping off into the acid pools trying to follow him. Eve nthose of us who are like him arehaving trouble, which means he needs to address this.

I think she would have worked as an EXCELLEnt foil for 11, given the added dramatic effect of him for all appearances being as young as she is. There were a lot of missed opportunities with his Doctor, and nothing to fault Matty and perhaps Moffat over either. ;( The painting of him says it all. @Planet of the Deaf @bl0ndie98 I for one think that a return to that format might benefit the show. it allows the plot and storyline more time to simmer and become great, marinating deliciously, much like that donkey soup that is simmered for fifteen years, which no one on the internet seems to remember exists. ;) I know it does, because I saw it in a food show once. the Master has tried to steal them before. and there is an 11th Docto rbook called 'Borrowed Time' which reveals something called the BLACK TIME MARKET.;) good stuffs.Plus, the different 'houses' of Gallifrey each have their own color. i find it plausible that each chapterhouse (not House, as that is the family line- pardon if I am confusing the capitalizations) has its own color and therefore any citizens associated with that chapter house would have as well. Prydon, the chapterhouse of Rassilon, the Doctor, adn probably the Master, is red. Patrex is purple, Cerulean is a blue, and so on. most of these chapterhouses are not mentioned in canon, but... with some of the 8th Doctor's story now canon, that may change. And we saw the Doctor in Red already sometime in the show, if I recall correctly. woot!

I want to see thge look on 'Assilon's face when 12 kicks his bum like the Other might have, as in, Properly, like a Boss. I cannot WAIT to see THAt resolution. I can just imagine 12 showing up on Gallifrey all Teed, then popping up behind Rassilon like Dark Schneider behind Count D'aimon. or taking him out like he did with Kebi Dabu. ah, good times...

It's a GREAT story idea... poignant and so very sad... but I hope that Gallifrey comes back properly, as a planet of allies with only a few stragglers. it wasn't explored enough, despite the wonderful classic eps Invasion of Time and Deadly Assassin with Tom Baker, and the few others which explored Gallifrey.

@Timhogan  the Doctor was more effective BEFORE the war. Remember that. He was healthier in some ways then. He might become that way now, with Capaldi. WE need to see him that way again, only less callous and more wolfishly wise about it due to his wider array of experiences- and the War. It makes sense for the character development, and sense for hte psychology they seem to be trying to convey. basically we need to see him work through his anger by dwelling with it for a wihle, and showing it, and realizing he has every RIGHt to show his anger, for his own health, and I don't mean in a five second throwaway comment, or worse, off-screen. we need to see this. now.

Yes. The Doctor needs to exhibit his REAL emotions in a specific way on the subject. Which means, for the health of the character's psychology in the long term, more GlaDOS less Wheatley. ;) but he is STILL the Doctor, so...keep the compassion core.

@Baker Street… is the Moment!  yeah... like Jack. The TARDIS tried to kill Jack, remember? Knowing he couldn't die and would survive it. SO, because of what we know about Clara being temporarily splintered like  that, she may still have a residual effectation due to that timeline. what if some of her is still inside the Doctor/his timeline? Hence the TARDIs disliking her... becuse she is kinda TimeLord but not, like Jack. Clara reminds me, always, of Romana, Charlotte Pollard, and the Key to Time.

Scherzo and Zagreus, anyone? I didn't read it but I GET IT. ( iam sacred to read it- deep emotions unsettle me a bit, despite my being a Scorp Rising haha)  I based a fanfic around Zagreus.
