Now that I have had time, try and explain what my other comment said. I think the timelords didn't stop the doctors death on Trenzalore instead they changed the timeline so it didn't happen at that instance. It could be very far in the future the doctor dies and his Tardis lands on the planet Trenzalore broken and old, in the end he will always end up there but the Timelords just delayed it for a few hundred or thousands of years.

I like to think the Timelords have delayed the doctor's death, that in the end no matter what he must die on Trenzalore, he was meant to die then but the timelords changed time, I like to think of it as a fate thing :3
I know Matt signed a contract for 3 years, I'm assuming Capaldi has had to sign the same. Also Capaldi does show he loves the show, I think he'll be round for a while, if not I'll eat my blue scarf from the doctor who convention

The more I look at Series 8, it really does seem the show is changing in Capaldi's Era, I'm very intrigued and curious how the next 14 episodes are going to go.

I didn't like this series as much as series 5 and 6. Series 7 had good ideas but poorly put to paper and being contained in a 45 minutes and many of the stories seem to just end suddenly with something else saving the day (best example from me - Cold War).
The worst part to me is the lack of any two-parters, TATM should have been a two parter and gave more time for the story to develop and end properly Cold War Nightmare in Silver The Power of Three and The TIme of the Doctor would have benefited greatly from Two-parters.

Okay, this story was good really good so I am giving it a 10/10 but that isn't going to stop me from criticizing it. First thing, no use of Paul Macgaan, I would've found it very fascinating if he had played the War Doctor, think about it a charismatic gentlemen with a lot of life in him on New years day in 2000 and then in 2013 to see him a bitter sad man who is about to commit double genocide. The next thing that saddens me is the soundtrack, I love soundtracks! Murray Gold where were you during this? This was the perfect chance to do so much new music and really amp up the story, for most of the episode I didn't even know the music was there :(. The last thing is no use of classic doctors, but that doesn't bother me too much though I would've liked it if they had recorded some voices from the previous doctors then we could hear the 11th talking to 7th or the 4th :D good god I would've died then. Still it one of my favourites those are some off the things I wish the anniversary had taken advantage off.

Oh no. Why him...

The episode gets a 7 out of me, it had some really high points that made it a watch but other bits such as the convoluted fixed time and the book reading creates fix points didn't make sense as it seems to contradict itself in the episode. Matt Smith here is in good form and I like seeing the cynical doctor as there are a lot of routes to go with that character. Whereas Karen and Arthur give it there all for a goodbye (I do feel sorry for Arthur as he didn't get a goodbye just sapped)

@IzzyG I have not read Summer Falls, but if that is in the book then that is a truly touching way of looking at the Ponds :,)
In my belief if the Sontarans ever showed up and saw what Strax has become (and I think this would be a great moment to give Jenny and Vastra some character development) the sontaran leader would kill strax for becoming something that is nothing like them and would see Strax as something weak and something that the whole universe will think that they are a laughing stock and cannot take them seriously as warriors

@supermoff To me Series 2 was the weakest till series 7 came alone, I don't like series 7 because so many good stories had so little to them and so many wasted. The biggest thing that bugs me though is the lack of a story arc throughout series 7. The best thing about series 7 though was the way each episode looked, each episode looks a thing of beauty! :)

I get what you mean, my comment sounded better in my head than in text but to try and do better I ment there are those that have hope and peace and some just corrupt to the bone. A lot will return in peace but some will remain bitter and twisted and will be evil
1 year ago on A forecast on Capaldi’s Doctor: The Frustrated Optimist
@VortexDan Well not all are evil, but I do think if Gallifrey does return then it should be in a war with itself because the truly corrupt are power hungry and the innocent want to just move on from the war. Being locked away in another universe a lot could be happening that we are not seeing. The crack could be the innocent ones asking if it safe to escape gallifrey from the corrupt timelords
