They tried a different slant on the Cybermen and it worked. They won't follow up on this aspect of conversion but top marks from me. It was scary with the cybermen crawling out of the graves and seeing Danny's dead reanimated face was horrific. It was told well, was emotional with the reveal of who exactly saved Kate Stewart. Brilliant.... but then was ruined with the santa claus bit. Great episode though.

If Timelords can change sex as a matter of fact, the Doctor would hardly be surprised.

Love a rabbit. Gravy. I think the 10th was being honest for once though.
Exactly. Too soon and no good reason to bring him back yet. I'd like 1 more John Simm story leading into a regeneration. This netherspere thing isn't a big enough reason to bring the Master back. Unless the next episode is pure gold.
Did anyone else notice that on the orient express when the Doctor is talking to himself on his bunk he's answering himself with a Tom Baker impression?. Also the Caretakers door looks like a red Police box which are still around in Glasgow? Missy isn't the Master. .. more squirrels. .. sweeeeeet.
True. True. If I could travel to next saturday I would. I wanted missy to be the Rani. She even looks like Kate O'Mara. Now... the Rani, that was one mixed up chemist.
The 10th Doctor once said that when he saw the new Master, he'd know him because 'Timelords always do'. Moffats playing us all for suckers. Missy is lying or mistaken (a la Jackson Lake) the 12th Doctor wouldn't have to feel her up if missy was actually the Master. I'm certain. Almost certain... oh look, a squirrel. .. sweeeet.
The 10th Doctor once said that when he saw the new Master, he'd know him because "Timelords always do'
Exactly, that ploy was the brain child of JN-T too when he became the producer. When Tom Baker (and every other Doctor onwards) was leaving he would tout the possibility to the press to get column inches. Now there are people who consider it for real. Should that day happen, that's the day I abandon Dr Who for good. I'm not sexist and I do get it when people say that there isn't many strong female characters about in fiction. However, here's a thing...create some. Don't muck about with things. I'm OK with a female Thor, I'm OK with a female Robin in DCs new project and I'm OK with an all female Ghostbusters (just wish it wasn't a reboot with no acknowledgment of the original) that's all fine and dandy with me... just leave the Doctor male. John Watson is now Joan Watson in Elementary, that's a good twist, it's fine. One day the Doctor will be of a different ethnic actor (Joseph Patterson, anyone? Or Idris Elba, that would be cool) I embrace that idea but I just want the Doctor to remain a bloke. Maybe I'm old (I'm 42 but some days cycling to work I feel like an orient express mummy) and stuck in my ways but come on BBC just give me this one thing. Here's something controversial. .. when Capaldi has finished his (hopefully) 5 perfect series in the role, they should rest Dr Who for a few years. Come back afresh. What say you?
Maybe she's lying. She's not the Master at all. I hope. I do hope. Come back Rani, all is forgiven.
Female Master.... oh no. You do realise that this paves the way for a future Doctor to be played by Melissa Mccarthy. Moffats biggest crime. I was a fan of the pube haired scott but he's just desecrated the memory of Roger Delgado.
Dr Who has never admitted the existence of an afterlife and this story line won't either. No-ones actually dead. It'll be science stuff not spiritual.

I liked the first two seasons of torchwood. Shame it became long winded and overblown.
Don't remember it at the time but just tried listening to Doctor in distress on you tube. Got about 55 seconds in. Now I'm going to pretend that I've never heard of it. In fact none of what I've just typed makes any sense to me. No idea what I'm blathering on about... ooh look, a squirrel.
What?? Did you see?? No!!! The old woman on the train who was killed by the mummy was the same actress who played an old woman in The Curse of Fenric who was killed by vampires!!! WE DEMAND THAT MOFFAT EXPLAIN WHY THESE TWO WOMEN HAVE THE SAME FACE!!! ...lol

It always amuses me that when a new character appears in the show, people always go to great lengths to say that they're some other character in a different guise. Weird.
5 months, 3 weeks ago on Is Courtney Woods a Companion?
Mickey Smith never made companion status so why should Courtney?
Maybe the baby space alien didn't lay an egg. It's possible the egg reformed itself to start the process again. It's not a massive dwelling point for me.
How about Mickey. He doesn't officially make companion status (although he does for me) as everyone at the time was saying that Martha was the first black companion. Despite Mickey appearing loads of times and travelling in the TARDIS. if he was granted full companion status then I think that everyone would agree that he had the best character arc and character development of all companions.
Well me neither. It's not what they do. Hence introducing UNIT with no Brig episode.
6 months ago on Roberts Explains Why Ian Chesterton Didn’t Appear in The Caretaker
Ian could have been seen earlier and the audience could learn about him over the course of the episodes. Job done. Then give him an episode. If they're not going to mention the past then why is it Coal Hill school when any would do. It still baffles me why the Brigadier never featured. It's like they disregard things at the time... and then it's too late. As in the late Nicholas Courtney.
Tom Baker was my first doctor as a kid. But watched pertwee on early morning repeats. I loved the classic series and the revival. For me since the revived series 1, doctor who has become better with every successive series. I'm not easily pleased but series 8 is the most fantastic since 2005. So in the interim some stories are slow, some aren't menacing. Some don't have a fantastic threat of a villain but so what? Its a snippet in the life of a renegade timelord. Not every day is an end of the universe or of all reality. Some times it's the little stories that stand out. Capaldi is excellent and so far Doctor Who is becoming progressively stronger and better. Evolution chaps. Who wants to know how it end's just yet? Enjoy the ride. Comedy, tragedy, thriller, farce, action adventure, horror? I'll take them all.

As far as I'm concerned it was gallifrey . Obviously no one lives in that area at that point hence no daleks. It would be silly if a patrol of armoured death tanks were ordered to guard a section of Gallifrey with no one in it especially during a war . Maybe the war doctor walked miles and miles because he hoped he'd be shot dead before he used the Moment. Who knows. For me it wouldn't make sense if it wasn't the big G. Also on a different topic (and one you havent commented on but I have to vent spleen) I can't abide the idea of looms those books are not canonical and I wish lungbarrow had never been written. Ok spleen vented. Isn't Capaldi excellent though? And I hope Clara doesn't get killed but I have a sneaky suspicion that she will. Id love the Tardis to go back to the shape of Hartnells. Bigger roof and smaller windows. Jamie is now travelling with the sixth doctor in big finish, cant wait. I hope Romana made it back to Gallifrey and diposed Rassilon after the time war. Capaldi should go to Ycarnos and visit Brian Blessed and Peri (I loved her when I was 12). I think they should do a 3 parter where the 12th is incapacitated after part 1 and the rest of the story is sorted by Mcgann and Lucie bleeding Miller. Why didn't I buy the War Doctor figure when I had the chance cos now it's selling on ebay for £50. Same story for the Real Time 6th doctor figure too. Liz Shaw was great. Smith is Pertwee and Tennant is Troughton, I love it. I hope they do a 3.75" scale mcgann and hurt figure. I'm going to Tunisia next week. My cat's going bald and I also love the Walking dead. why don't they sell the life size 3d Tardis in this country. Got Game of Thrones season 1 bluray and haven't got passed ep 3 yet. Can't wait for Assassins creed rogue. And I know you didn't ask for any of this crap so I apologise immensely. Sometimes I just can't stop once I've started. Have a great day and be lucky.

The Doctors always banging on about there being no Timelords left but there's loads of pre-Time war Timelords in the universe knocking around and observing things. Why doesn't he go and see a few of those?

Who the hell is scoring every episode as very poor? Please abandon ship and watch coronation street please. I've loved all 3 eps so far. I have no problems in the slightest.

So what if it's just a light hearted romp. It's good to see them every once in a while. A nice break. It doesn't matter if it's incidental. I'm looking forward to it.

Professional interviewers usually have researchers to get a bit of background information on the subjects their talking about. The one show presenters seem not to watch Doctor Who and don't have much knowledge of what it's about apart from a "wacky" show where River Song can be the Doctor because "it's Doctor Who and anything can happen". Alex Kingstons face was a picture of confusion and disbelief at the end of her interview, as was mine. I'm not saying they need to know everything about the show or the actors but a modicum of preparation would be nice. I know the One Show isn't a serious interview show but I wish the presenters would not stumble from one question to another like it had just popped into their heads.

Random doppelgangers!! Thats the thing!! There's only a finite combination of facial features available. That's why Mark kermode looks like Jesse Birdsall, and thats why I used to be a dead ringer for Keanu Reeves. Unfortunately I grew up and changed while he looks the same. Ah well.

An abzorbaloff on a roller coaster? Why, that may be my most favourite thing in the universe. Apart from looking at Halo figures whilst eating hotdogs.
The Master? Pah!! The Rani? How boring! Although, doesn't that paradise garden look quite like a Tardis interior? The pool is the console with the time rotor, there's columns and even the main entrance in the background. Think of a chameleon circuit for the inside. However, I'd rather her be a totally new character. We'll see. I've just now convinced myself that she is the Rani. Bad me. I'm now going to go to bed with no supper. That'll show me!!!

Fair point and well made. I've watched too many Paxman interviews. Thank god he doesn't dumb down to One Show levels. Do you remember the Alex Kingston interview a while back? I'm sure Alex wanted to tolchok Matt Baker in the head for being thick but she's too professional for that. 13 hours to go.

I agree. I loved Christina. What a missed opportunity. Here's hoping she makes a return. Such a good character. Wendy Padbury is super cool. No one looks better in a silver glittery catsuit.

Tish is now in Hollywood. I liked her.
Those two presenters must be the thickest people on TV. Cant wait for Saturday. All this time waiting and it's still a day away. Aaaaaarrrrrgh.
It doesn't matter. It shouldn't matter. No explanation needed at all. Don't know why they're bothering.
7 months, 2 weeks ago on Why Capaldi’s Previous Appearances Shouldn’t Really Matter
Precisely. 90 mins would have been epic.
7 months, 2 weeks ago on Dawn of the New Doctor
Understand that it was the mid eighties. If you weren't there then look at popular music at the time. Look at the fashion. Look at the era in general. A dark doctor doesnt automatically mean dark clothes. I know Colin himself wanted to dress in black but it doesnt really matter. With a producer like JNT what else could it be. My only quibble was the writers. Some good, most we're questionable. God love the coat. It me it's as iconic as the long scarf. Peace.
7 months, 2 weeks ago on In Defense of Colin Baker
You may not have liked the coat, the writers or the era it was filmed. But for some of us, colin baker was the fantastic new doctor at the time. We bought the annual, we loved his new character, gone was the nice doctor, now it was time there was some edge. Baker was right started off hartnellesque but ramped up. We loved it. It was me, the show and DWM. The BBC should have given him a third season to round his doctor out. His second season showed he'd mellowed a bit. But the article is spot on. The adventures continued with Big Finish (what a ride) they are now part of the canon. They always were to me. If people are desperate for Dr Who when its not on TV give them a try they are excellent. Colin was and is a truly Massively Great Doctor. And back in the day, and now I still love the coat. God bless and long live the sixth doctor.
Feature length to me always meant 90 mins so I wish they'd stop calling it that. Extended lenght seems good

I loved silver Nemesis. Although it takes the edge of them when you can kill them by catapulting a gold coin at them.
I'm glad it's a low key explanation. Hopefully that low key that it's a throw away line. We don't need an explanation at all. Same actor that's all.
8 months ago on Capaldi’s Familiar Face Addressed in a Low-key Way
Precisely. Now we have context. The fault I think lies with both magazines and web sites just banging out a few soundbites rather than adding a little context by showing the full question and full answer, rather than just saying "capaldi says this..." no wonder the fans leap to conclusions and make judgements. Come on websites, if youre going to bang out a quick blurb please take the time to give context.
8 months ago on Capaldi’s Doctor More Alien, Less “human-friendly”
I like the Time War Daleks. It wouldnt bother me if they stayed the same for another 9 years. Although I would incorporate the new paradigm daleks too by having the red ones as patrol commanders to the gold ones. One red paradigm drone commander to a squad of 20 gold Time War drones. The rest of the new paradigm Daleks I would have as rarely seen running things behind the scenes like the Dalek High Council of old. Remember Planet of the Daleks when the black and gold Dalek Council member turned up?. I'd like a story at some point where the blue Scientist Dalek leads an expedition backed up by 2 red commanders and 2 squads of gold drones etc. Or maybe keep a similar design to the Time War Daleks but change the colour to gun metal grey with black bits on. That would echo the classic series and give the daleks more of a tank/war machine look.
8 months ago on Time to Regenerate the Daleks?
I agree. I just hope that Capaldi isn't meaning to sound as arrogant as it's coming across.
Precisely. I'm not reading the full interview or the questions asked. I probably read it the wrong way and like I said Capaldi probably wasnt meaning to sound arrogant. It just goes to show how different an interview can be in cold print as opposed to a friendly filmed interview.
It's probably just me but every time I read what capaldi says it comes across as a bit arrogant in written form. His is the best costume, he's the most alien, no more messing I'm here type thing. He probably doesn't mean it like that and no one is looking forward to his doctor more than me. I'm maybe reading too much into it.
