@Alec Brownscombe @Bruffins @Zep2 I don't think you can be too hard on this team - let those f-bombs fly!
5 hours, 35 minutes ago on Game Day: Game #8, Boston Bruins at Toronto Maple Leafs (7 p.m., CBC)
@djamon @Bruffins Except that's a habit I think he and Morgan picked up watching Phaneuf - being last man in to a board battle.
5 hours, 42 minutes ago on Game Day: Game #8, Boston Bruins at Toronto Maple Leafs (7 p.m., CBC)
@GreekGod @Kenny Powers Agreed. I call the top 6 The Powderpuff Girls.

@Jordan29 IKR? So hot, no way she rolls with a dude who looks like that in real life.

@dlb Mad @DeclanK Big, physical centre who will work the boards and play defense? Exactly what the first line needs, imo.
1 day, 14 hours ago on Friday Mashup: Chara out 4-6 weeks, Leafs play Boston Saturday
@Jmessih Honestly, when I read this stuff all I can think of is
@Yan28 Pffft. Like that didn't happen 20 other times last season? #notexactlynews
1 day, 17 hours ago on Friday Mashup: Chara out 4-6 weeks, Leafs play Boston Saturday
@MaxwellHowe @Darkside Beleafer @Yaknowwhat Agreed, I think he's a much better fit in line 1 or line 2, he was pretty decent getting top 6 minutes last year when all the centres got injured.
It'd be nice to see him get some first line minutes when Bozak falls into his "I just like to watch" routine.
1 day, 18 hours ago on Thursday Mashup: Bruins Saturday
@MaxwellHowe @Yaknowwhat My feelings exactly. It was good to see Randy move him up to the 2nd line in NY when Kadri seemed to regress to his doing laps in the neutral zone style of play he had going in the last part of last season.
@Ze_theLeafsFan @Burtonboy I think he's also playing most of his minutes with the Truck Line - the 3rd line - and with the way those guys cycle all day, every day, Phaneuf's numbers are inflated.
@ingy56 yeah, how many times did we see that last year - Leafs v. a tired team missing their stars - and the Leafs cough up a huge hairball.
@MaxwellHowe @Cameron19 @peterbleafs @Burtonboy And even if you diagnose them properly, what can you do about it? I have friends who are sick but refuse to deal with their illnesses at all. They might not be on the level of shooting up a mall, but they definitely have issues. Are we supposed to jail them because they might be dangerous?
1 day, 19 hours ago on Thursday Mashup: Bruins Saturday
@MaxwellHowe @Knights2Leafs And most of Cody's hits were his patented punch in the back.
1 day, 20 hours ago on Thursday Mashup: Bruins Saturday
@Burtonboy @deedrag Sure hope so. Fitness has been a concern of mine ever since Gary Roberts mentioned that the Leafs might be going about their fitness the wrong way - the team always seems tired and weak.
Watching the Wings skate hard and work harder on the boards on the weekend, I kept coming back to the idea that the Leafs do a shitty job with conditioning. Maybe it's just the players not doing what they're supposed, fitness-wise, but when it's a team-wide problem it seems like it's thr program, not the players.
And what's up with JvR? He put on 5 pounds of muscle and yet he's constantly getting punked by smaller players?
4 days, 16 hours ago on Monday Mashup: Taking on the toughs
@Xxxxxnew Should be on the first line, and TB on the third. Randy and his goddam favourites.
5 days, 12 hours ago on Monday Mashup: Taking on the toughs
@Denied @Mcost61 @Burtonboy I blame Mirtle. Ambiguous statements like that (which he has a habit of making) should have been the first thing they drummed out of him at journalism school.
@peterbleafs @Yaknowwhat Why not use him to give Kadri some incentive? When Kadri starts going into his neutral zone all star routine, Randy can drop him to 4th line, where he might feast on the weaker opposition, and promote Holland to 2nd line, where he was fairly effective last year.
@MaxwellHowe @Xxxxxnew The one where Kadri kinda bailed on it, instead of helping Jake out? Jake's a maddening passer, always 10 feet in front or 5 feet behind, but on that one it was close enough that Kadri could have made more of an effort to corral it.
But that's a failing common to most Leafs, except Daniel "Too much man" Winnik and the whole 3rd line.
6 days, 13 hours ago on Game Review: Game #6, Red Wings 1 vs. Maple Leafs 0 (OT)
@MaxwellHowe After watching the Wings for 2 games hack and obstruct the game down to a crawl, I don't know if I'm all that keen on Babcock. Horrible hockey to watch.
6 days, 14 hours ago on Game Review: Game #6, Red Wings 1 vs. Maple Leafs 0 (OT)
@Mind Bomb @dlb Mad In one of the earlier game reviews on here, they talked about how Polak stopped those awfuls cycles in our zone cold. That's more than enough wow for me.

@Zep2 Would love to see Couterier. Watching him pound the boards last year in the playoffs last year struck me as exactly what the first line needs - big, solid centre who will work the boards and play defense.
With JVR's and Phil's offensive abilities, points will never be a problem with the first line, it's that defensive presence and 100% effort that needed.
@Mind Bomb @Darkside Beleafer @Cameron19 I did watch it. Phaneuf's feet were parallel - he couldn't turn at all - and pushing him to the outside was just Phaneuf waving a crosscheck at Patches as he blew by him.
@Cameron19 I disagree. Phaneuf was caught completely flat-footed, and Patches just went around him.
@BPsotka @TheLoovTrain @colino17 Unfortunately, that chemistry includes incredibly soft defensive play. They need a stiffener, like the 2nd line did with Winnik.
@Mind Bomb @MaxwellHowe I swear, that is one of Randy's worst habits - loyalty to his veterans. He's worse than Pat Quinn. He scapegoats some guys and gives other guys a pass - so frustrating.
@Bruffins @MaxwellHowe Seemed like Randy didn't play them against the Rangers until the PP. The announcers were mentioning they hadn't seen the first line much and wondered if Randy was sending them a message.
Even tho' they scored a bunch of points I still thought they kinda sucked, their effort came up a little bit in the third, but there was still a bunch of puck-watching. Need to be broken up until they decide to work harder.
@Yaknowwhat I swear, with Jake it's like before every game Morpheus offers him a choice of the red pil or the blue pill - the red pill means he'll be 2012 playoffs awesome, the blue pill means he'll be the Big Lebowski.
The only problem is, he's colour-blind and won't know which pill he's taken 'til after he's taken it. So far, he seems more blue pill than red pill. The difference between his wild passing and Stuart "Iceman" Percy's passing is just astonishing.
I'd love to see Santorelli on the first line, and Bozak down on the third. Santo has the speed to keep up with Phil and JVR, and would provide board play and defense. Bozak could play with 2 wingers who'd crash the boards and play some defense, and maybe he'd stop watching the play so much.
@wiski @Cameron19 @reenergized @Luke_R @MikeGartner11 @FRyan Does that ever happen, Cam giving it a rest?

@Bruffins Sounds like a perfect fit for the Leafs.

@leafmealone @Burtonboy Show some guts and sit Dion - he was the worst defenseman last night.
@TheLoovTrain How about Franson & Bozak for Plekanec?
@Yan28 @LyGuy Captain Cruise Control is a bad choice? How dare you, sir!

@colino17 I'd like to see Leo lay a hit on Subban that gets Subban to chase him all over the ice for a couple of minutes, like last year with Jay McClement. Maybe this time Subban will get a penalty.
2 weeks, 3 days ago on Season Opener Mashup: The Day Is Here
@Burtonboy @DeclanK Agreed. Watching him play, he kind of reminded me of Lupul; skilled guy with some size whose on/off switch was mostly in the off position.
2 weeks, 5 days ago on Maple Leafs cut Colton Orr, Fraser McLaren, William Nylander; Roster down to 23
@Yaknowwhat @ingy56 Not if you're the other team, which seemed to be a strategy teams employed last year - ignore the heavies and target the skilled guys. For some reason, Randy seemed to have the big guys on a leash last year, funny year all around.
@djamon @LyGuy I don't know, Weber from Buffalo looked like he didn't want any piece of Orr. Good of Orr to straighten him, that was missing last year.
@Yan28 @Knights2Leafs @Cameron19 I noticed that as well. I'm thinking the only way he'll score is if he turns himself into a net presence/screen and looks tips/rebounds/garbage goals. Doesn't seem like he can create any offense for himself.
@LyGuy I wonder. After watching Boulton tune up Tim Gleason last year, I wonder how this year's version of the team will handle something like that.
@Jmessih It always kills me to see Kessel giving Bozak the laser Stare of Death after Bozie muffs one of Phil's sweet setups.
@Jmessih Was that the "and that's all I got to say about that" interview where he suggested they should mix the lines up?
@Black_Hawk @Anthony Petrielli Absolutely. And I don't think there's a player in the NHL who would disagree with you.
@Bring the Cup Home I just hopes he gets his confidence back. I saw a clip of a nice goal he scored against Washington, and it was amazing how different he was. Skating hard, persistent, and showed a nice pair of hands to pick the puck out of the air to score. If he gets back to being that type of player, it'll be a very good pickup for the Leafs.
@Potcy @Black_Hawk Agreed. If he had any touch around the net he would have had 20 goals last year.
@Great Dane 3-6-1, me calling Bell to cancel my centre ice package.
3 weeks, 1 day ago on Friday Mashup: Final Preseason Game Day
@ingy56 @gottabe_KD @LN-093 God, why do they do that to us? It's so obvious Hughson and Co. hate the Leafs and wish they were back in Vancouver, why not give them that slot and make everyone happy.
I was watching the Leafs in Detroit the other night and it was unbelievable how much better the regional Fox broadcast was. It was so nice to have commentators who didn't feel it was their sworn duty to trash the Leafs on a constant basis.
@sniperstar @Darkside Beleafer @Yaknowwhat Ah, geez, I'd forgotten about those. No, I mean the ones that go right into the net like he's not even there. I remember how the whole team used to sag after one of those was scored.
@traNsplantEdneWfie @DeclanK @Loric76 Let me bring this conversation to a screeching halt:
@Yaknowwhat No worries, it's Goose. He'll be lights out for a while, and then give up one of those goals that seems to go right through him.
@Burtonboy @Zeus_WilliamMapleLeafs Yes, but Montreal gets babysat by the refs. Toronto doesn't have that going for them, at all.
