1 week, 4 days ago on Will There Be a 10th Anniversary Special for the Revival?
Days of Future Past has the same plot as Day of the Daleks, and is arguably where the original comic writers came up with the idea from. (check it out, strange but true!)

Well reasoned theory.... Ugh, I hope it's not true.

City of Death does NOT deserve a spot in the top 10. IMO but it keeps popping up so who am I to argue with everyone else.

WHAT NO RITA!?!?!?!? Rita would've been awesome!

@RobertLythgoe Well we'll have to agree to disagree. The God Complex is currently my all time favorite NuWho. And I'd put Mercy & Venice higher up on the list of favorites. I think Complex & Mercy are the type of stories that set Doctor Who apart. :)

I hope Toby Whithouse has written an episode for Series 8.
Excellent article. thank you.

Also...HOW DID CLARA GET OUT OF THE TIME SCAR!?!?!? If she was supposedly spit into a million pieces and the process was going to kill her as it supposedly destroyed the Intelligence... How did the Doctor save her?
I understand they didn't want to put that in the 50th and I never would want to see it there, but where was the adventure? or at least the explanation of this.
First it's all... "oh no don't do that you'll die!"
then it's all..."life is back to normal travelling with the Doctor on and off...What was I worried about?"
It's like we all got so distracted by the the awesomeness of John Hurt that we forgot about the rest of the story.
3 months, 3 weeks ago on Moffat Explains Doctor’s Timey Tomb
@The_Major This is a great theory, I agree. Too bad Moffat can't say something like this.
Answering a question is not the same as explaining something!
Explaining something would be to say "the time fissure is the result of
me regenerating there at the end of my first cycle"
Saying "But what do I know about Trenzalore?" is NOT an
explanation, it is an answer to a question.
This is exactly why I have become so disheartened with Moffat's story
telling after being a Moffat super fan. He is capable of complex plot lines
(look at almost all of his past DW work or Sherlock) but his handling of the
end of Matt Smith's era is truly tragic. I'm not saying the story didn't have a
satisfying emotional through line or anything like that, and I don't think
you're an idiot if you enjoy it. I'm just saying that I feel so let down by the
storyteller who gave us Blink and the Pandorica Opens/Big bang (among others.)
Part of the joy of those episodes is not just the emotional journey we go on
with the characters, but watching the mad mechanizations of time travel
storytelling. If something is not revealed right away or must be inferred, then
that can be all the more enjoyable.
But when the mystery is solved off-screen (who are the Silence? What is
their purpose? Etc.) and we are simply given the answer in a line of dialogue,
it is completely unsatisfying on this level.
(Sherlock SPOILER) Can you imagine Sherlock having an adventure and then suddenly
saying "The murderer was a London cabbie hiding in plain sight, and he
said a name to me, Moriarty" And never seeing the confrontation between
him and the cabbie? Or being with him as he discovered that!?
How lame would that be !?!?
I, as an audience member, want to go on the journey of discovery with the
main character, not just overhear them telling me something they discovered
when I wasn't around!
Perhaps Moffat just ran out of time to tell the story how he wanted to.
Hopefully Capaldi's era will not suffer from this.
I understand that many people feel like Cold War is 'slow', but I thought it was an excellent reintroduction of the Ice Warriors. If you can't stand Cold War, don't watch classic who.
Cold War is just a modern (and quite excellent) update of the original Ice Warriors story, taking many of the same story elements. (The Doctor introducing himself by saving a group of people from destruction, the female companion almost bonding with the lead ice warrior, etc etc.) Try watching the Ice Warriors, and then watching Cold War right afterwards. I think you may have a new appreciation for it. All that being said...I voted for the impossible planet. (ha ha ha ha)

The God Complex deserved to be much higher IMO.

I'm kind of shocked by The Rebel Flesh / The Almost People & The Vampires of Venice. I mean, I knew they weren't fan favorites, but I didn't expect them this low.

If it weren't for Matt's acting I would totally exterminate Time of the Doctor.

"...but heroes tell us who we want to be, and a lot of our heroes
But, you know, when they made this particular hero they didn’t give him a gun, they gave him a screwdriver to fix things,
they didn’t give him a tank or a warship or an X-wing fighter, they gave him a
call box, from which you can call for help, and they didn’t give him a super
power, or pointy ears, or a heat-ray, they gave him an extra heart. They gave
him two hearts. And that’s an extraordinary thing.
There will never come a time, when we don’t need a hero like

Do yourself a favor and skip to 27:42 of the 11th hour panel! Whatever you think about Moffat, his response to that question is one of the most amazing quotes about the show ever!

also...my vote is for Whithouse!!!!...(or Phil Ford)
4 months, 3 weeks ago on The Speculator’s Guide to… The Next Showrunner
I think if Moffat stays as EP for two more seasons he should write less scripts. He is an excellent writer, but since he's been show-runner his scripts have been 50/50. (either good or not so good). Someone give the guy a break! Also this would let the new person ease into the position.
This is an excellent homage to the classic era. Watch 'The Ice Warriors' and then watch this. Some sections almost seem copy/pasted plot-wise.
I wish the Skaldak wasn't CG, but other than that, a good old-fashioned episode.

5 months, 1 week ago on Best of Matt Smith: The God Complex
I've seen (or listened to) every episode, but I haven't heard much or read
much of things that weren’t part of the TV show.
I like to think of the War Chief as an earlier regen of the Master. I also
think there is decent evidence for Susan being a human. (That doesn't mean I
don't think the Doctor had a biological family at some point.)
I hope the show never reveals (and only hints at) the Doctor's origins. That
way we can keep imagining in books, audios, comics etc.
