I think that the monster the Doctor was looking for existed, but not that it necessarily featured in the episode. What I mean by this is that the idea that something is soooo good at hiding, it has perfected it, and thus is never seen. Even some type of symbiotic organism that lives off of every organism and in a way, can be someone to talk to when alone. This reminds me of the whole idea of a devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other. It kind of links in with the whole "heaven" theme this series. There might be more importance in this episode than at first glance. No matter how one describes the monster, it sounds like it should exist, which is what the Doctor was getting at, and by probability, it should exist. However, if it were to exist, I don't think it would "hide" under a bed-cover, when they can all clearly see it. If it is so good at hiding, than it should be able to find a better hiding spot than that. By the same strain of logic, the organism should not be at the end of the universe when everything is dead, because it lived (assuming my premise) in symbiosis with other beings. Therefore, I don't think that this creature actually appeared in this episode, but I think that it exists at the very least in the Whoniverse. So yes and no.

I understand where people are coming from, but I don't think it is really the accent. It's probably more the speed with the accent that makes it difficult. I'm not having this problem however, probably because I speak too quickly most of the time and people don't always catch everything I say, and I have a pretty standard American accent. Anyway, Capaldi should keep the accent (also it would be weird if he had a scottish accent in one episode and the next week he just switched accents.)

What was that whole bit at the end? Robin Hood is as real as the Doctor? Robots and People going to "Heaven" or the "Promised Land"? Something is definitely going on with reality....

@Kathrin Lily Franke @BLINKANDYOUREDEAD That's my point. He gave the Dalek a chance to see good, but all it saw was evil and hatred, certainly defining for both the Doctor and the Daleks. Also in Asylum of the Daleks, isn't there somewhere, like a central location, that houses all of the knowledge of the Daleks, so shouldn't it be that when the Doctor convinced that one Dalek, that knowledge should have been entered into that big database? Or would it be that all of that knowledge would be suppressed?

Is it bad that the saddest moment I've seen in Doctor Who for a long time was the dalek only seeing the evil in the Doctor, and then destroying the other daleks? It, for me, was sadder than the death of the Ponds, or any other "sad" scenes. I think it was a beautifully done scene because it makes you feel like there is no hope for the daleks.
One thing I've noticed is that these episodes don't feel as rushed as last season. Also, so far, the Doctor is using his sonic very much as a background tool, rather than a very useful plot device, which is nice

@TaelorMyrie People do lots of things in all sorts of shows geared towards children that is explicitly against the views of religious individuals, so why bring up specifically homosexuality? If parents can't tell their children about their beliefs about different ideas and things people do in society, then either they have to let the media educate them, or they can shelter their kids and not let them watch any television. Either way, it's not really the shows' loss.

@SephoraNeedSeries8 @Blink42 But this Sherlock is modern day. He doesn't technically have to subscribe to the mythos of Sherlock. They could theoretically make it work in universe, it would just be a bit hard to keep the essence behind both series the same while making them crossover.

I totally agree. Clara's my favourite companion, and it's probably because of her interesting personality. She is probably somebody that I would become very good friends with (intelligence and quirkiness are definitely two prerequisites for me). Great article!
3 months ago on Clara Oswald – A Question of Perspective
He didn't want the Time Lords back mainly because it would also bring back the Daleks. The Daleks vs the Time Lords was what he was afraid of. But now, he can save only the Time Lords. Think about when the Master dies in New-Who (the first time). The Doctor wants him to live and to regenerate, even though they have been enemies for centuries. Why? Because it is his own people, and the Doctor believes that he can get them under control. He believes that he can deal with the Time Lords, and more times than not he can deal with the Daleks, what he has a problem with is dealing with both, which, for right now, is unlikely to happen because only he knows that Gallifrey is still out there.
3 months, 1 week ago on Why Bringing Back Gallifrey is Wrong
@LGwalchmai95 I agree with all of that. But what this does give us a chance for is a couple of random time lords escaping the pocket universe over the years, like the rani for example.
Happy Birthday!! I have to say two of the best people to work on the show, and I really hope that Jenna stays on for a good while longer. She is a brilliant actress and reflects that in her acting across from Matt Smith, and I am sure that it will continue when across from Peter Capaldi. Also, Russell, when I watched when you were running the show, I did not pay attention to who wrote which episode, but now, looking back, I really appreciate the writing and the way that you brought Doctor Who back to our screens. So Happy Birthday to both of you and your commitment to the show!!!

I for one LOVED planet of the dead simply because it was where the alien race wasn't really defeated just moved. I really hate how the Doctor has a bias towards humans, and I love when he treats the alien as equally. Also the ray like things are so cool. The script might not be as epic or wonderful or exciting as a regular episode, but it doesn't have to be to be a great insight into the world of Doctor Who, where we only see the parts of his life that make for good television. Christina would have made an excellent companion because, instead of having a companion to see the universe with new eyes, he would have to train Christina to still love adventure, but without crime. It probably would have prevented waters of mars.

The problem is that blink is the first episode that really got me into doctor who. I love the episode, and it is one of my favorites (along with midnight and planet of the dead, utopia, and waters of mars) of Tennants era. Vincent and the Doctor is one of my favorites (along with Asylum of the Daleks, rings of Akhaten and eleventh hour and snowmen) of Smiths era. I even dressed up as Vincent van Gogh once (cause he is the greatest artist of all time. The question is really whose best episode is better, and it's torturous!!!

I'm sooooooo curious as to whether the girl in the fireplace or the doctor's wife is going to win. It will be close. I personally went with TGITF

@MaraBackman @Planet of the Deaf I would agree with you, which is why in real life I go to at least three decimal places to rank episodes above each other because 18 and up are all above a 9 for me. (I rank in accordance with other television that I see, so most of my rankings are skewed higher because most television is bad, and I have yet to see an episode of Doctor Who that actually deserves a 1/10 in comparison to other television programs).

I apparently like a lot of episodes that are on the bottom end of the list. Since I didn't post my bottom since I didn't post my bottom six last time, here are my bottom 13.
I would prefer for the two of them to be good friends and not romantically engaged because I really miss that time where a guy and a girl can be best friends without having to fall for each other. Imagine three best friends running around time and space, each having to deal with different problems that they face, allowing for personal growth of each character, as well as the growth of a great friendship! I want to see that again, just brought a little bit more modern, allowing for two teachers to be a bit more knowledgable about the technological and scientific world, while still bringing in the social issues that society faces today, which Doctor Who does so well. Anyway, that's my wish list for Series 8.

@DasManiac I think I would like the first, because he really is a mad old scientist, making scientific experiments, and that would be the real reason that I would like to travel throughout time and space.
6 months, 4 weeks ago on Would you travel with the Doctor? Pros and Cons
@Alias @ivegotkidneys I would love to go to Ceres-2, Enceladus, any of the new possible life inhabited planets found by the Kepler telescope.... Yes, I am an astronomy nerd :P.....Seriously though, all of that research is AWESOME. That's the main reason I would want to travel: to learn more about science.
@Alias @Lewis94. We still don't know too much about space....
I would LOVE to travel in space and time, mainly for the science and knowing I would make an impact, but everything else too. Being nearly killed all the time isn't necessarily a con either. Yes you could die, but I would much rather die doing the right thing, than end up dying of old age or some disease in a hospital bed.
@grabate But isn't it worth saving species, learning about space, meeting historical figures, and making a difference? Even if I were just a pet, if I, as a pet, get to do incredible things, why does it matter that I am a pet? He cares about his pets, so he will try to protect you at any cost, and you still get to do things that are just fantastic!! Who cares whether the Doctor has ulterior motives for your being there, what matters is the experience, not why he's giving you the opportunity! You only get so many experiences in your life, make the best of them, because people almost never have pure intentions. If that is your outlook, then what's the point of grabbing any opportunity?.......................(Sorry about the rant :P)
