If they really insist on doing a movie - fine - but make it the opening story to a new Doctor (with a new showrunner). That way it can be filmed at the same time Peter will be filming his final series. It would not affect the show's production and could be a story to introduce new viewers to the show (like Rose and The Eleventh Hour). It could air in cinemas around Easter ready for a new series to start in late August / early September of that year.

Although Doctor Who does look great on the big screen, I would prefer for them to focus on the show. Plus we could have more specials with the movie budget.

The problem I have with Gatiss is that his episodes can be hit and miss. Say what you like about Moffat but prior to him taking on the role as showrunner, his episodes were some of the best. Gatiss does not have this advantage. Plus Moffat has (for the majority of his time as showrunner) had mostly good to great episodes.

@andyot7777 I also gave him a 9/10. I'm like Craig Revel Horwood when it comes to voting. I rarely give a 10. Eccleston was a great Doctor but as you said - every Doctor/Actor has some problems or flaw in the role.

@The Finn is excited for audio Kate Stewart! @marsupialbeige The problem I have with Yates is the fact he made them so dark. In certain parts it is hard to make out the characters. The battle scenes in Part 2 are noticeably dark. I didn't see the point in them adding all the giants, spiders, etc.. if you can barely make them out.
3 weeks ago on Capaldi: A Doctor Who Movie Would Be Great
@Master Oswald Danes @Typo42 "Magic Carrots" It is a play on Harry Potter. The Prisoner of Azkaban and The Goblet of Fire. Also the 8th Doctor drank from a goblet which contained a potion made by the Sisterhood. The Sisterhood's sacred flame produces an elixir of life.
4 weeks ago on Series 9: The Girl Who Died, and The Woman Who Lived
I hope she joins the TARDIS full time eventually. Plus the timing works well. Game of Thrones usually films from July-December, which would leave January-June for Doctor Who.
Love & Monsters is an episode I just cannot get into. Even after a second or third viewing. It's a shame because it certainly had potential to be a classic. The Absorbaloff was ruined before it even got started, merely because I couldn't take it seriously. As for the sexually active paving slab - I think RTDs may have smoked something before writing that scene. The episode should have focused on the darker side to the Doctor and the death of Elton's mother at the hands of a monster.
As for Fear Her - it was an average episode for me. The problem with both of these episodes could be that they are squashed in between two far more superior stories.
As someone mentioned below, some stories age better compared to when they first aired. The Rings of Akhaten is no longer as bad as I thought. Granted certain scenes are not perfect and the Doctor should not use the screwdriver as a wand, but for me it is by no means considered a low point of the last decade.

Sorry Blink but it is time for you to come down from your pedestal.
1 month ago on Revival Face-Off: The Grand Final
The Eleventh Hour - I enjoyed Vincent and the Doctor but not as much as The Eleventh Hour.
The Impossible Astronaut / Day of the Moon - I'm sure this round could go either way but I thought this two-parter was amazing. The Name of the Doctor was great and had an amazing cliffhanger but it was slightly rushed (story-wise).
The Day of the Doctor - This was a bit of a harder poll but in the end I had to go with my heart. I love the 50th special. Listen is great to.
1 month ago on Revival Face-Off: Moffat Era Triple
My votes went to:
The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances - A story which I still love to this day. Unlike Blink (which was great and will likely win again) this one not only has a strong story but also has a bigger threat level for me. There was no big bad alien trying to invade or kill humanity. It was simply a scared little boy calling out for his "Mummy". The Weeping Angels in Blink zapped you back in time and made you live to death. To me that is a kindness. Imagine a Gas Mask Zombie coming towards you. You cannot stop it and one touch will turn you into one as well. The Nanogenes will simply keep regenerating the boy and so he keeps coming back again and again. Eventually he (or the other zombies) would get you. To me that is a worse fate than being zapped back in time. Plus this story has one of the best cliffhangers.
Bad Wolf / The Parting of the Ways - A tricky vote but this story tops it. Nine will always be my Doctor and it is a shame he only got one series. This story saw him shine. He had an amazing speech and proved why the Daleks feared him. Plus the whole reality TV / scripted reality TV aspect is not so different to modern day. Let us hope that TOWIE is not still going in the year 200,100. Like The Empty Child, this story has one of the best cliffhangers.
The Waters of Mars - As much as I enjoyed Midnight, this beats it hands down. Creepy, claustrophobic and a threat which I'm shocked Moffat didn't think of. Water is something we all need and one drop would turn us into the water zombies. Plus the ending for this story was shocking and one of Tennant's finest moments as the Doctor.

Happy Birthday Freema. Martha is one of my favourite companions. I've never understood the hate that some "fans" direct at her. In my opinion she was better than Rose.

@KingOfTheInterWebs scared about scary episodes Happy Birthday :)
I enjoyed Flatline but my vote goes to Name. We had the surprise feature of previous Doctors, Jenny's murder and resurrection, the end of the Impossible Girl arc, River returning, Trenzalore and the epic John Hurt.
That being said I do want Mathieson to return in Series 9.
1 month, 1 week ago on Revival Face-Off: Round #10
This was not easy as I love both episodes. They are partly why Series 4 remains my favourite series since the show returned 10 years ago. I sense this round will go to Midnight but my vote goes to Turn Left. Catherine was amazing in this episode and it proved that she could do both comedic and serious acting. This episode also developed Donna.

@Notsosmartguy @VERITASERUMUK @Huknar Why not have both? We would still have the same amount of Who - 12 episodes for the main series plus an Easter and Christmas Special.
4 months ago on Rate & Discuss Last Christmas
@Huknar @VERITASERUMUK It likely is that reason but I am hoping they are doing an Easter special as it breaks up the 8 month wait.
I find it weird that they have put 'The Doctor and Clara will return next year in The Magician's Apprentice' - especially if Series 9 does not air until August 2015. It seems like they are announcing the title a bit early. Could it be that they are doing a 10 years of New Who special in March and this is the title?

Eccleston was my first Doctor. I wish he would come back for another special episode - maybe the 10th Anniversary of New Who (if we get one). On a separate note - does anyone know when Weird and Wonderful returns? I thought it would be once Series 8 finished.

I'd like Clara to stay for at least one more Series. If, however, she does leave I want an alien to be the new companion. Since 2005 the companion formula has been the same - London, England or at the very least England. Even Amy Pond, who was Scottish, lived in England.

They can change the sonic screwdriver but I don't think they should change the Tardis - not until Series 10 at least.

I would have liked the Rani to return but Gomez was also a good Mistress. If the Rani were to return (and since this was revealed it seems more possible) I think Katie McGrath would be a good choice.

I voted Utopia. Back in 2007 I didn't see the Master's return coming. In Dark Water (although I enjoyed the episode) it was kind of obvious.

Despite feeling a little bit underwhelmed with Missy's reveal (the Master seemed a bit too obvious), I still very much enjoyed Part 1 of the finale. Hopefully Part 2 can top it. And to Steven Moffat (if you just happen to read this comment) - please bring the Rani back one day. She has potential to be a great villain.
5 months, 3 weeks ago on Rate & Discuss Dark Water
I was hoping for the Rani. The Master seemed too obvious and as such the reveal wasn't that shocking. I had the same feeling with River Song's reveal.
@supermoff needs answers! NOW! @VERITASERUMUK Exactly. If Clara does turn against the Doctor, this could be the reason why.
6 months ago on Dark Water TV Trailer Breakdown
I think Clara's Gran will die in this 2 parter. The Time of the Doctor showed how much Clara loves her. Danny seems too obvious. It could be both of them.

@Whovian64 @VERITASERUMUK Just noticed you commented the same. Indeed they do.
Once the Next Time ended I was in a state of shock. That being said, maybe this is the true reason the Tardis didn't/doesn't trust Clara.
@Master Michael Moon Deep Breath was 75-76 minutes long and the remaining episodes have made up the last 15 minutes meaning we have actually had the same amount of Who as we would normally get in any other series.

Just heard about this. She was an amazing woman and actress. I remember her not only from Doctor Who but also At Home with the Braithwaites. R.I.P Lynda.

I don't know who to choose. The Doctor is not human and Earth is not his planet - therefore he has no say in how we run. He had no right to destroy Harriet Jones' career. However, he has helped Earth for many years and he looks at our tiny planet as his second home. The problem with this is that with the Doctor constantly assisting, humanity is unable to spread its wings and help themselves. The same can be said for Clara. She has always seen the Doctor as a hero who helps no matter what and as someone that will always have the answers. He doesn't learn. Amy's trust in him would have been her undoing in The God Complex. The Doctor broke Clara's trust in a brutal fashion. On the other hand, the Doctor will never be around all of the time. Torchwood: Children of Earth is an example of this. He would never have allowed 10% of the Children to be taken. But without him, humanity has to make a decision by itself and sometimes that means a great sacrifice for the greater good.
