@davidbrummy TWOM is one of my all-time favourites simply because it had everything I look for in an episode - good monsters, likeable characters, a genuine threat to the characters and also the Doctor not realizing that his actions have consequences. His ego pushed Adelaide into committing suicide.

@SteviePenny True. As I said in my comment in that article, the Daleks need better stories and they also need to become more of a threat. They are far too easily defeated.

That voice (in my opinion) seems to be a mixture of Davros, Dalek Caan (when he went mad) and the Dalek Prime Minister. It would be good to see Davros return.

The Daleks are overused far too much . They are used every year - whether that is because of Terry Nation's estate or not is anyone's guess but if it is the reason, the writer's need to become more inventive and/or only have them as a cameo for a few years. Make them more of a threat - not having them as the supreme beings of tea service. The Cybermen are also in this situation. Whilst not being used as much as the Daleks, they are not being given the stories they deserve. By all means bring both the Daleks and Cybermen back if you have a good story to tell and if they are not easily defeated - I'm looking at you Journey's End.

@Huknar @Planet of the Deaf If it was 90 minutes, it would explain why we only have 12 episodes. The first episode would be the same duration as 2 episodes.

@drjakeyoung Although it would be great if that did happen, I doubt very much it will. Each series takes 8-9 months to film which would mean that Capaldi and Coleman would have only a few weeks off before they would need to be back on set for filming.

Although I don't like the fact we have lost an episode, I am hoping they have done it to make the other episodes longer with better endings. Plus we are not having a split this year - always a plus.

@11thdoctorsmurf Couldn't agree more. The Series 1 episode 'Dalek' still remains one of my favourite Dalek episodes because it showed how dangerous just one Dalek can be. It killed without delay - until it's DNA started to mutate. In recent episodes they merely shout at the Doctor. The one in The Stolen Earth actually did what it was meant to and shot the Doctor without delay. They need to become a more dangerous foe again.

@TheOncomingHurricane @VERITASERUMUK Hopefully it means they are making the episodes 10-15 minutes longer. If this is the case it might be worth losing an episode - especially if they can conclude the story without a rushed ending *cough Power of Three cough*.

@Notsosmartguy the Superior Venom @VERITASERUMUK @TheNightmareChild @HitchcockWhovian @supermoff Planet of the Dead is average for me and The End of Time is an acquired taste. For me it was dragged out - especially in Part 2.

@TheNightmareChild @HitchcockWhovian @supermoff @Notsosmartguy the Superior Venom I don't know why but I love The Waters of Mars. Maybe it is because (for me) it was the best of the 2009 specials.

What is with the BBC? They have one of the best shows in the world (yes I am biased) and they intended on ending it... As the Dalek Emperor once said: "Those words are blasphemy!"

@Huknar @VERITASERUMUK Very true. It wouldn't have been such a big issue if the trailer was uploaded the same day on the BBC YouTube channel. I have Day of the Doctor on Blu-Ray and I'm sure it has the trailer which was shown at Comic Con on it, which means we got the same trailer only much later in the year.

2 months ago on Series 8 Confirmed for August, First Teaser Trailer

Reply

@Huknar @VERITASERUMUK True. But Comic Con normally has some sort of Doctor Who trailer / clips etc... so it likely will for Series 8. As long as the BBC upload it to YouTube or the Doctor Who website, it may not cause such a huge storm. Plus the Day of the Doctor was the 50th which meant the BBC were just being mean not showing it to all Whovians.

I clicked on to Doctor Who TV thinking it will be an article or pictures from filming only to read "Series 8 Confirmed for August, First Teaser Trailer". It was a nice surprise. Hopefully we have another longer trailer released at Comic Con (or before). Before would be nice.

@Sir James Bond  Completely agree. Series 1 Episode 1 "Rose" is the best episode for new fans to start with because it reintroduces the audience to the Doctor, the TARDIS etc... without focusing heavily on the past. As much as I love 'The Day of the Doctor', it is not the best story to have new fans start with. As for having more Doctor's - we had them, all of them. Yes it was archive footage but they still appeared. Having Tom Baker appear was a nice moment but if every previous Doctor still alive appeared for real (not archived) it may have been overkill.

I hope we do have another 2-part finale and some more 2-part stories. Some of my favourite stories have been 2-parters. In my opinion Series 7 was damaged slightly by the standalone stories. Most needed to be at least an hour long in order for them to work. Stories like The Power of Three and Cold War felt too short. The endings were rushed.

I would love to see more Torchwood but I'm starting to doubt it will ever happen. As for Jack being the Face of Boe - it has never been confirmed. RTDs himself said he doesn't want to confirm it. He has even said no to books which connect them.

The gaps between each Series are getting longer. Even if Torchwood returned next year it would be 4 years since Miracle Day.

3 years already? Time really does fly. It doesn't feel that long ago when I clicked on to the Digital Spy website only to be confronted with the headline: "Elisabeth Sladen dies, aged 63". I think it shocked me more because I didn't (and I'm assuming others didn't) know that she had cancer. That made it worse because she was suddenly ripped from all of our hearts.

I love the Daleks but I do think it is time for a little rest. If the Nation Estate rumour is true, maybe just have a cameo once a year (like The Waters of Mars and The Wedding of River Song). Take a year or two off and bring them back.
