I do think the whole Moffat and RTD hating groups are definitely exaggerated a lot. The vast majority of people here are very respectful of both writers and other whovians. It is just a few who cause controversy and start arguments, hence the whole thing gets blown up a lot.
@Huknar Yes but bearing in mind that this show has gone on for 50 years, and will probably last a fair amount longer
1 month, 1 week ago on Is it time for Davros to return?
@Huknar Not to me it isn't. Especially as those 6 years make only 3 series (4 if you include series 8)
@TheBiPunishment No. Nice as it seems, in Davros's eyes, the Master is most likely to be another enemy, but what if The Master and The Doctor teamed up to defeat Davros, and just as they defeat him, it turns out to be part of a much greater plan made by The Master.
@MeglosProductions Not just the 'one crucible survived' excuse that they deployed in Victory of the Daleks. Awful.
No! As much as I like the idea, I don't get why old villains have to be killed off and just turn out to have survived 5 years later. It gets repetitive, honestly. I don't see why Davros cannot just be left alone now. And at the moment it is 6 (7 next year) years since he was on, but realistically that is not that long. If enemies are going to keep on reappearing, it needs to be a massive gap (10 years), otherwise the novelty and surprise is gone.

2 months ago on 5 Could Have Been Companions
@Planet of the Deaf Those Claras / Oswins were definitely much better than this one. The Victorian one was a favourite companion within minutes. The modern day one is mu least favourite.
@LotsOfPlanetsHaveANorth While I loved Handles, I do think he is better off as a one-off character. He was brilliant in Time, and having permanently around would get boring rather quickly.
Very good list. One thing that you talked of at the end was great – experience with space travel. It would be great if we could get a companion from the future, who knows stuff, rather than the same 21st century stuff. The last real time we got that was Captain Jack (nine years ago a few days ago, believe it or not!!!).
Too many doctors would have ruined it in my view. It was fine like this. In fairness, 1-3 are dead, 4 was in it, 5-7 weren't, 8 had a minisode, 9 wasn't and 10-11 were, so out of 8, 4 were a part of it!! Not bad really. Plus we got a new Doctor, and we still got the 'all twelve' moment, which then became 'all thirteen', so to say there weren't any classics isn't fair.
2 months ago on Smith on 50th Classic Doctor Criticisms
@giddir I hated Name, and Wedding was quite decent, but all the two-parters (and the three-parter) have been above these in my view. The worst was Name by far.
2 months ago on Two-Part Finale for Series 8
@Huknar I don't see why it cannot be done this series to be honest. In fact, I don't see why it was ever broken in the first place. Oh yeah, a series split over two years for some stupid reason. Genuinely, there is no reason for it to be a slow process of going back to that true method. But I do agree, then is better than not at all.
@MatthewButcher It's very unlikely. More than anything the writing styles may be completely different and the story may not make much sense, but I do hope that it is the case.
@TonySimmons Yeah, I cannot believe they're almost doing the same as last year. Would have thought somebody would have listened to the fans..
@Earthborn Well we know that 8 of the stories so far all have individual different writers, so unless the remaining 4/5 are actually two or three stories, then the chances are they are all single-episode.
@JFrance I felt that series 7 was horrific without two-parters. Also, it probably worked well given that it was effectively 2 6/7 episode series, so two-parters didn't get as much attention, if you get what I mean.
@Richy Woo It really would. So many people watch on Christmas day and they simply wouldn't have a clue what is going on.
Seriously? Only one two-parter. Not meaning to sound ungrateful or rude here, but has nobody at the BBC learned that the vast majority of people want a decent amount of two-parters, and are fed up of not having one since the middle of series 6, in 2011. Last series without two-parters just felt horrible having so many short stories like that. And we're going to have to do that again until the last story?
Well, Torchwood sort of went there, and I wasn't overly please about the end result. The show is global enough. Anything else could ruin it. I think it must be kept original and only British, and maybe spin-offs would do if one is desperate for another show.

2 months, 1 week ago on Comparing the Female Companions of Revived Who
I agree with everything here.
Also, there are no survival problems with them. It is known that there are cyber legions everywhere, and they have many forms and evolve, etc., unlike daleks which have their continuity completely messed up now. Finally, they have cybershades, cybermats, cybermice, etc., which are so cool!
I also think that cybermen stories are generally written better. Out of 5 cybermen stories (where they are the main plot) in the modern era, there is not a single one I think is not particularly good (I'm not a fan of Nightmare in Silver, but it wasn't a bad episode, I just didn't like it that much), whereas with daleks there are 8 stories, 3 of which (all the 11th Doctor ones sadly, not saying I hate the entire era though. It includes Time but not Day) I disliked.

Sycorax would be great, as we actually know so little about these beings. Krillitanes and Judoon are also good. Loved the Vashta Nerada, but they will become like the weeping angels if they return – not scary anymore.
But the idea of weepings and vashta vs doctor would be great, other than a high chance of poor execution of the episode due to the fact that there is physically no way to stop these things.

@RobertLythgoe @RoastNewt I didn't particularly dislike it, but it was nothing more than mediocre for me. @milquetoast In fairness to the article, it is about the bad points. And to be honest, I found much of said scene to be rather cringeworthy (my opinion though).
@trenzalew Now you say that, I have just realised how right you are.
I can just imagine different types of cybermen (classic mondas, cybus design mondas, new mondas, etc.) all messed up, struggling to walk, and accidentally shooting each other. That would have worked so well!
Completely agree with every sentence! Even the dalek's existence itself is questionable: going from "they always survive" to suddenly a massive fleet of daleks with insane ones that were all supposed to have been destroyed. It makes absolutely no sense. As for the daleks forgetting the Doctor, at first I liked this, and was excited to see where Moffat would take this idea. Only for the next time they appear (excluding the time war daleks), they just extract some memories from somebody and as if it never happened. Very poor writing.
I felt that Amy and Rory divorcing was just an unnecessary thing, that in most ways actually ruined their story.

@Mark Mc I AGREE!!!!!!! His ending was brilliant, and he saved The Doctor ultimately, but bringing him back could ruin it. If every 5 or so years we just keep getting The Master back it will get very repetitive and boring. That said, if we got a story about The Master ending up at the end of the universe, thinking he is a human, I would quite like that (so essentially getting an old (or younger than previously) Master). This would not interfere with TEoT and The Master's ending or story.

@theultimatebadwolf Yes. Surely Time created a type 2 plot hole as it contradicted Clara entering the time stream.
4 months, 2 weeks ago on The Actual Plot Holes in Doctor Who
Having just watched Journey's End an hour ago I can explain that The Doctor even explains in about a sentence about the other universes having stars go out. Not really a plot hole, just something you cannot tell what happened. And the meta-crisis Doctor is similar, in that it was explained (he was born in battle), so this is enough, and the rest should be for interpretation. Also, are you kidding me? 10 plot holes in modern Doctor Who. Really? There are more than that.

@CoolSlitheen Only bring back the Vashta Nerada if there is a really good story for them, and not for the sake of it. They NEED to continue to scare the hell out of me (and not become like the Weeping Angels).
@trenzalew Davros is, like the Master, one who has appeared too recently for his appearances in the past to be ruined by an appearance now. I personally say give him 5 years at least.
@Leighmumford And it could end with the Master in the TARDIS using the chameleon arch, and maybe even stealing the Doctor's watch. I must say, having just commented about not wanting to see the Master again, I wouldn't mind this as it wouldn't ruin his previous episodes.
@craig33 Why wouldn't he? 7 came back to do a regeneration scene in the movie, and 8 came back for a minisode. Why wouldn't Simm want to come back to finish off his character properly. I'm pretty sure that he loved the person he played, and would want to respect it. Anyway, the BBC would most likely offer him some incentives.
One thing I've always thought about returning is the Vashta Nerada. Obviously this isn't the sort of thing that should just be put in for the sake of it, but I think somebody should be able to come up with a fantastic, and really scary (change of trousers scary) story with them. I personally am not keen on seeing the Master return. I loved his character, but for me four years after The End of Time is not enough. It would seem somewhat wrong.
@Antee991166 I too like Hungry Earth! While I felt at some times it was too slow, it would have been too rushed in a single 45 minutes. I completely agree with what you say here. If you think what could have been in this episode... I didn't like Nightmare in Silver that much, but I reckon that if it had remained a two-parter it could have been epic. As with this episode.

5 months, 2 weeks ago on “I will always remember when the Doctor was me”
@YgorVale @Xisco Lozdob But in Day, they weren't pleased about Gallifrey being frozen, and would have rather returned there and then.
@YgorVale I see it as if the fixed point was created around 11's timeline, so therefore it did not exist during 10's time.
@Me and Stuff @lp229 I think that it would be in the newspapers actually. Maybe not the front page, but it would be in many somewhere. It's not minor, it's a big deal. The showrunner has as much impact on the show as the actors themselves. Doctor Who TV for some reason I am unable to insert new lines in my comments, and it sometimes comes up with an error message not letting me post.
5 months, 2 weeks ago on Steven Moffat on his Doctor Who Future
@lp229 I have to completely agree (other than I really don't like Gatiss' Doctor Who stories, he is my least favourite Who writer). Although I like 45 minutes (it feels right for Doctor Who), 2 part stories are better than 1 part only, and they are indeed more logical. The Library and the Sontaran episodes are perfect examples of this.
@Petrolheaded Wholockian I thought this too, but I came to the conclusion that as there were a few seconds before the fez and the Doctor coming through, it may be that the Doctor remembers the fez appearing.
5 months, 2 weeks ago on To Know Thine Self: What can or can’t the Doctor know about his future selves?
@TakeTheType40 Ah well we know he has regenerated because of the ears line, but not much else told us that really. A simple solution would have been, instead of sandshoes, chinny, and granddad, it could have been sandshoes, chinny, and ears or something like that, and then he was just checking.
5 months, 2 weeks ago on What if… the Ninth Doctor was the War Doctor?
@Rule27 @JJ2000 Yes, I was wondering the same. I felt there were a lot of things which could have been better, but on the hole it was brillinat in my opinion!
I think the thing is with Moffat's writing is that it was very different when he was able to spend so much time doing a single story in a year, and where he was able to just do whatever he wanted in a single 45 minutes / 1h 30m. Now he is lead writer there is a lot more to do.
I personally like all of the episodes in series 4 the best, so if many of these writers were doing episodes it would be great.
