Best episode of series 8 yet, in my opinion.

Loved the War Doctor reference (although I wish I hadn't found out about it on here before the episode). Clara Oswald once again proved why she is one of the greatest companions of all time. It was scary, which I thoroughly enjoyed. And the Danny plot thickens. Can't wait to find out more!

I'm Norwegian and watching through crappy livestreams with terrible sound quality and I have no problem understand what Capaldi is saying.

Tought one, but I had to go for The Crimson Horror. Loved that episode. Robot of Sherwood is my second favourite of his.

Definitely my favourite of the series so far! Although, I have a feeling "Listen" might knock it down from first place - creepy episodes are my favourite!

I love the sound of this. Unfortunately for me I am following quite a few spoiler happy people on Twitter who have watched the leaked episode and are posting about it, but I'm excited nonetheless.

I had to go with The Eleventh Hour. After watching Matt's first episode I instantly felt like he was the Doctor. I didn't get that feeling for Peter in Deep Breath, although I really enjoyed the episode and his acting.

I hated the 10/Rose romance and 11/River was even worse. Amy/Rory was fine, so I'm interested to see how this romance works out.

I'm sort of neutral too. On one side, it might be the only way for me to watch the episode legally in my own country (I'm Norwegian and Doctor Who isn't broadcast here, no news from cinemas yet though). On the other hand, although the episode is special, it's not THAT special. So yeah. I'm neutral.

I absolutely love Clara (well, duh, just look at my username) and she's my favourite companion of all time. And yes, I have watched a lot of the classics, so don't go all "well, you've probably only watched New Who" on me. Now, I will admit, I was a fan of Jenna BEFORE I saw anything of her in Doctor Who, so am I biased? Maybe.

What I love about Clara is her down-to-earth, normal, brilliant but flawed character. She's a skeptic, she doesn't just jump in the TARDIS and leave everything and everyone behind. She knows she has responsibilities, she knows that one day the adventure will end and she's doing her best to maintain a somewhat normal life on Earth. She's useful, intelligent, brave and loyal - everything I want in a companion. But she's far from perfect (a so-called Mary Sue). She's quite proud, she's a control freak, bossy, sometimes a little shallow, possibly even a bit jealous and quite naive in my opinion. Those flaws add depth to her character - more depth that I've seen in Amy, for example.

I'm having a hard time understanding why people DIDN'T like her "Impossible Girl" story arc in series 7 part 2. For me, it was the greatest arc we've had since the "knock four times" theme in series 4. The timing was perfect what with the 50th Anniversary and all. She's basically the Doctor's soul mate, she's the only reason he's got his TARDIS and is travelling around unharmed. She looks after him, but she never asks anything in return. She just cares that much about him and he loves her for it. I have a feeling a lot of Clara haters are Ten/Rose or Eleven/River shippers who think that the Doctor shouldn't love anyone else. That's just immature. He loved his companions before Rose/River and he will love his companions after Rose/River and yes, Clara.

I think Clara has brought new life to the show. A new energy, new dynamic and lots of great moments. In some ways, she's the most important companion we've ever had and I'm so grateful to have her in series 8. I love Moffat for having created her and I love Jenna for portraying her perfectly.

Okay, my long opinion comment is done.

@FMOB11 I know the Doctor is ancient, I just wanted to see that baby-faced old man triumph over the enemy once more before he would be gone forever. I wanted to see MATT SMITH as the Doctor, not Matt Smith in a mask.

I enjoyed reading this article a lot.

I was so disappointed after watching The Time of the Doctor on Christmas Day. So disappointed that I cried myself to sleep. I felt like my Doctor had been a completely different person the whole episode, that his relationship with Clara was all but destroyed and that Matt Smith deserved better than to wear an "old man" mask for half of the episode. It didn't feel like Doctor Who to me, and that made me so sad. There wasn't really a proper story to the episode, it just served as a way to answer every single question left by previous episodes. I realise that emotions were already running high even before watching the episode, but to this day I still don't like Moffat's way of sending off Matt.

Now I will say, I haven't rewatched it yet. I just can't bring myself to do it. I bought the DVD as soon as it was released, but it has just been sitting on my shelf unopened. I'm scared to watch it again, but I know I should. Loads of people have told me that they were able to appreciate The Time of the Doctor more upon rewatching. So maybe I will. One day.

I agree completely about Rose, but not the others. I really, really dislike Rose's character. She's immature, jealous, self-centred and sort of useless in many situations. That being said, I'm a huge fan of Billie Piper. She's an amazing actress.

My absolute favourite new Who companion is Clara. She won my heart within seconds of appearing and I loved the Impossible Girl story arc. Before Clara, my favourite was definitely Martha. Maybe because I feel like I can relate to her, everything from my studies to my family situation is similar. But I sincerely think she has a lot more dimensions than any other RTD companion. Yes, they wrote her in a way that encouraged people (especially Rose lovers) to dislike her, but by the end she finally got to prove what an amazing character she was. Brave, intelligent, strong and definitely not a damsel in distress.

To sum it up, from favourite to least favourite:

1. Clara

2. Martha

3. Donna

4. Amy

...

887,305. Rose

-93,298,249,084. River

Rose and RIver just don't appeal to me at all.

Brilliant article. Clara quickly became my favourite companion, taking the top spot away from Martha. I fell in love with Jenna and her personality as soon as she was announced in 2012 (I hadn't heard of her before because Norway is a bloody stupid country and has never let Jenna graze the Norwegian audience with her talent and beauty).

In my opinion, Doctor Who simply became better once she joined the cast. I wasn't expecting it - actually, I was afraid we would get a River clone after Amy and Rory - but THANK GOD we got this Clara instead. She's amazing.
