Thanks again to the "Science, Bitch!"-Neil DeGrass Tyson worshipping jerks of the internet for trying so hard to look smart about a science-fiction show about an alien who can change shape and flies around time and space in a box. And to top it all off they were wrong!.......really can't wait for them to pick apart Star Wars in a year

Ok seriously, am I the only one who actually liked Nightmare in Silver? Angie aside (let's face it, Artie wasn't that bad himself), I thought it was great. The upgrade of the Cybermen made them seem more threatening.....and can we talk about how genius Matt Smith was as the Doctor/Mr. Clever? I also thought it was a nice penultimate episode for Clara that season because she really took charge, as if she'd finally gotten the hang of this whole time travelling saving worlds thing.......AND freakin Warwick Davis!.......Also, anyone who says they didn't squeal when he said "Allons-y" is a liar.

I do think that the show is rooted enough now that we don't necessarily need to "see" ourselves in the companion. They can be more alien or from a different time.

Ok so HFM was zapped by Missy......but did the Doctor push him??? I actually don't think he did, because this whole series was about wondering if the Doctor was really still the Doctor and finding time and again that he was

I don't think Tom Baker's record will ever be broken. I'm sure Doctor Who was also pretty demanding back then, but I don't think it was anything like what it is today. I expect Capaldi will be with us for another two to three series, although personally I'm hoping for longer!
1 month ago on Capaldi Doesn’t Plan to Regenerate “For a While”
Here's the thing about The Name of the Doctor.....seeing all the old Doctors being chased around by Clara, the reveal of Gallifrey "A very long time ago....", seeing the TARDIS before it was a police box, the creepiness of the Whisper Men, ALMOST hearing the Doctor's name, the return of River Song, seeing all the Doctors run around his time stream, and the reveal of John Hurt.....my mouth was agape the whole time. And when it said "Introducing John Hurt......as the Doctor"....ask my dad I literally jumped up and went "WHAT?!!" .....and all of that as a lead in to the 50th. I think all of the finales were good stories, but this one definitely had more fandom/emotional bang for the buck

C'mon people, let's have a little bit of mystery! Half of what spoils any show or movie these days is knowing who's contracted for what. Just enjoy the ride!
1 month ago on Moffat Can’t Confirm Jenna Coleman for Series 9
@12th's Sonic now wants a crossover with FNAF. @JLS1138 True, but it was just a variation on a theme, much like Capaldi's is on Smith's.
1 month ago on Capaldi Hoping for New TARDIS
Tennant was in Eccleston's for the entirety of his tenure, which wasn't a bad thing but hey, I get where Capaldi is coming from. I think we can give this set another season or so before majorly modifying it. And, if we do go back to the Roundels, the set designers would hopefully figure out how to give it that 60's roundel flare without making it look like a small set as it was back in the day. It might also be cool to see a Classic console, almost like the one now just without the main time rotor column.....and, for the record, Smith's first console is my favorite. Something about it seemed so grand and alien and wonderful.
@stargazer0118 Agreed. Jacobi was amazing in the brief time we saw him as the Master, but it it was just too brief. Simm was brilliant and the perfect match for Tennant. I would love to have seem him go up against the older Twelfth Doctor. But, that said, Gomez is just the perfect mix of clever and crazy and more than an equal foe for Capaldi. They compliment each other so well.

The thing about seeing Simm regenerate that people have to remember is that they have to pay an actor for, in this case, what would ultimately be a flashback. If they want to do it justice, perhaps they should do a minisode (Night of the Master?)

I think the children in this series have done very well. They are written as actual children, not what some adult writers perceive as how children should be (happens way too often in TV). They all had unique personalities that made them seem more than just a group of kids. This episode reminds me of when I took my cousins' kids on a walk with my dog. I constantly had to watch out for them, answer questions, and hope that no one ran off.

@LaraHarris Er...but it DOES say "pull to open" and the Doctor pushes to get INTO the TARDIS (getting out he pulls, but that's not what the door sign means, it means Pull to open when entering)
1 month, 3 weeks ago on Neil Gaiman on Hopes for Capaldi Episode
@Notsosmartguy's got no strings on him Fan criticisms? Too harsh? Couldn't be!
Um, I liked Nightmare in Silver a lot. Matt Smith as Mr. Clever was genius, I liked the idea of an abandoned amusement park as the scene of a battle (especially holding up in the castle). I love the new look of the Cybermen. And the only halfway annoying thing about it was Angie but it didn't deter too much from the episode. And freakin Warwick Davis!!......And anyone who says they didn't squeal a little when Matt Smith said "Fantastic!" and "Allons-y" is a liar.
And in terms of female writers...that's just one aspect of the show. There are plenty female producers, editors, actors, crew, staff, etc. etc. I get the point, that it would be nice to have some more women in the writer's room, but it shouldn't be the only thing that defines this show.
@The17thDoctor @JLS1138 I'd say Twelve started out leagues ahead of One in terms of showing his caring side, even if it's masked under some brusqueness. I also think a lot of people expect a full and complete picture of every character without giving them a chance to live out their arc.

@allons_ywibblywobbly @JLS1138 Whovians: Hated the under-developed Clara of Season 7. Hate the Clara that takes charge in Season 8.......and seriously, like no one has ever had that one friend that they love, but holy crap can they drive you nuts.
Whovians: Accept that the First Doctor started out a grumpy old man. Cannot accept that The Twelfth Doctor isn't a cuddly teddy bear even though they wanted a darker Doctor.

The Doctor meeting Ian after all this time is right up there with him seeing SJS again and deserves, if not a full episode, then definitely a minisode as have some have suggested.

My favorite moment? The kid reading Pride and Prejudice checks out Clara's butt as she walks by to talk to the Doctor in the window. He is my hero.
Also, when the Doctor is wiping away "Ozzie loves the Squaddie" he says "Kids, what's the matter with kids today?" Which is a line from a song of the same name from the musical Bye Bye Birdie which, you guessed it, premiered in 1963.
And the Doctor's face when she says the other teacher isn't her type. (Obviously I'm rewatching it right now)

"Despite its title, the enduring mystery of Doctor Who isn’t the character’s name (though this episode gives a fairly large hint as to what that name might be)." ....Uh, you wanna share that insight with the rest of us? Didn't catch that in the episode.

@TylerNightingale @JLS1138 Just threw it out there for fun, Tyler. Perhaps a Baby Angel would want to hide so it didn't turn to stone. It could then move around, remove the blanket, and then disappear without having to worry about being seen....but again, it was just a throwaway idea for kicks.
3 months ago on Poll: Listen – Was there a Monster or not?
Number 2 is the biggest reason BBC won't pull the plug on Doctor Who anytime soon. So long as they're raking in enough money to fill the TARDIS, they'll be juuust fine keeping it where it is.
3 months ago on Why The Decline in Overnight Ratings Doesn’t Matter
I think there was a monster, or perhaps a lost little alien (baby Weeping Angel?) because something was definitely behind Clara when it removed the blanket. And I think it was meant to be a counterpoint to the end of the story, as if to say "there are no monsters under the bed.....unless there are!"
While I love the idea of Nick Frost possibly playing another goofy Sontaran (my first thought on reading this) I really hope we get to see a confrontation in which Strax has to choose between his own people and the Paternoster Gang

So here's what I've got on the criminal roster so far: 1-?, 2-?, 3-Cpt. John Hart, 4-? (looks like Troughton), 5-Slitheen, 6-Terileptil, 7-? (But creeps the hell out of me). Any ideas on the rest?

Other other Question: So what was actually behind them in Rupert's room? Something was definitely there and it vanished. Freeze frame anyone?
3 months, 1 week ago on Rate & Discuss Listen
@YaelMoise @TheWeepingSilence Bingo, Yael. Nailed it.
Capaldi's best episode yet, and I'd argue one of the greatest of New Who. Character driven, the right kind of creepy, a few surprises and the BIG shocker at the end. Just incredible.
I also think we're clearly seeing "Question:" becoming 12's catchphrase. Ever the teacher (much like Clara). So, with that in mind....Question: Did Clara give the young Doctor the army figurine? If so, how did young Rupert get it?
Other Question: Is Courtney really going to join the TARDIS team? In just two quick snippets she's already annoyed the crap out of me
@DWTV @JLS1138 Thanks DWTV. Welp, we can still hope!
