I think anytime the Doctor refers to the numbering, it's for the companion's sake. Also, I think we need to separate when he counts his regenerations ("eleventh" to Craig, "number ten once.." to Clara, etc.) from actually calling himself "The Eleventh Doctor". As for TNOTD, Clara said "you're the eleventh Doctor"...a) she could have just been talking about his regenerations, using a small "e" for eleventh, and b) She's out window into this world, so she would arbitrarily number him like we do.

@BazHood @JLS1138 I'll take your word for it Baz! Perhaps that's just his low, serious voice as opposed to his "holy crap I just regenerated and we're crashing" voice

So, to my (American) ear he seems to have lost his Scottish accent from the closing scenes of TotD. Anyone on the other side of the pond care to weigh in on that? It could just be we only have a few snippets of dialogue to go on.

Am I the only one who thinks the red console lights in 12's console room are more menacing than "adding some warmth"?
And since everyone's doing it...my favorite has to be 11's first console room. It really felt "bigger on the inside"

I think it would be interesting to see John Simm's younger Master go against Capaldi's older Doctor....but a Dance/Capaldi battle of wits and glares would be epic

Doctor Who's truest champion. Thanks for fighting the good fight, RTD!

Allegations of racism....on the INTERNET?!! Well now I've heard everything! Seriously though, I think it made sense for Mickey and Martha to get together because they both had a shared experience in being companions AND in unrequited love thanks to insane circumstances.

I love the idea that we're going back to the original TARDIS crew, but with a new twist!

There might be more activity in the TARDIS than during the Fourth/Fifth Doctor's time and the Tenth Doctor Reunion Tour

I wonder if the "coincidence" of multiple Capaldis is not some grand plot like we're all thinking it is. There might be a nice, neat, simple, explanation that doesn't have to span three Series.......and yes, I'm just as surprised as you that I didn't write that ironically

@colincreevaz As Amy said below, I think anytime 11 talked about regeneration at all, and especially in Nightmare in Silver, he was bluffing out of necessity.

Hm, do you think River got so upset with him because she KNEW that he was on his last body (at the time anyway)?
Amen RTD! It's a peculiar thing about fandoms (any of them) that some people spend so much of their time hating the things they love. Don't like an aspect of a show? Fine. Duly noted. But don't make it seem like those aspects ruin the entiiiire show for you. Stop watching then.

When I was a teenager I had a dream that I was stuck at my karate school in the dark and a voice said over and over "I am the Prince" .....which is pretty much why I still can't watch "the Satan Pit" because of when Toby screams it to Rose in the shuttle,

As if there's even a question...A Good Man Goes To War. That said, I do really like the Rings of Akhaten and don't know why it gets dumped on so much. Not a huge fan of 42 but overall a solid Episode 7 list

Also...Idiot's Lantern....any scene with the grandmother thumping on the floor and the reveal of her non-face still makes me shiver
As much as I would love to see McGann back in the TARDIS, no Doctor should have to share more than a special episode with his former selves, it's just not fair to the actor. I feel like he'd get Donna Noble'd in the sense that Donna had to share her season with Martha, then Rose, then the Tenth Doctor Reunion Tour.
4 months ago on How To Bring Back McGann
@Master Michael Moon @Baker Street I dunno Michael. Eccleston left because of problems behind the scenes. If Capaldi is happy with everything on and off set, and coupled with his unbridled love of Doctor Who, I think we'll see him in the TARDIS for at least 3 years.

The robot looks cool. I do hope he gets his own Sonic eventually. It felt right for Ten to keep using Nine's, but Eleven's just seems like it should be solely his own, as if the TARDIS made it specifically for HIM in the Eleventh Hour. But like everyone has been saying, I'm sure he'll have his own one day.

Something about the Eleventh Hour just calls to me. The stark departure from the RTD era and everything we ever knew (and loved). The mystery of the crack in the wall, and the story of the Raggedy Doctor. It was perfect.

Anyone have a good/reasonably priced resource for the Doctor's crombie coat (in the US)? Obviously the actual Crombie's are way too expensive, and I've found some ones that are pretty close (with the only differences being a top pocket and the actual pockets are more towards the front, not on the sides), but I want to be as exact as I can without making any alterations. Nordstrom's website has a some good options.
I still remember sitting in my office early that morning and suppressing a scream as Paul McGann's face popped up on my screen.

I think you hit it on the head with the fact that McCoy wouldn't have any heads up on the production process. That said, I'd like to see Simm return and square off against an older Doctor

I always love the professor making a point to sing "Hungry Like A Wolf"....I always thought there was a connection between Clara and Rose, but perhaps it was just an allusion to Bad Wolf/The Moment.

I'm starting to think he has two hearts in real life. What a class act. It seems like throughout the history of the show they cast really awesome people in all the roles, especially when it comes to how they deal with younger fans.
4 months, 3 weeks ago on Capaldi: Matt Smith told me to look after Doctor Who
Ya know it's so funny to hear how "played out" the Weeping Angels are when you consider how infrequently they actually show up. Blink in Series 3, then not again til Time of the Angels in Series 5, and then not again until midway through Series 7 with the Angels take Manhattan. And, each time, something new was added to their mythology. Their presence in TNOTD was quick, but effective because there was a moment where you thought "is he going to lose ANOTHER companion to them"?
5 months ago on Best of Matt Smith: The Angels Take Manhattan
@Richy Woo That's kinda freakin briliant, Richy. Although I would love to see the juxtiposition between a crazy, young Master and a cool, older Doctor. The Rani would really make an excellent choice as well, especially for Capaldi. We could even see Kate O'Mara regenerate!

@shyx111 "MANGIA! YOU WILL MANGIA! OBEY!" Also the plunger is replaced by a wooden spoon (any Italian will tell you that's much more deadly)
Whoa whoa whoa wait....
Now, I had to look him up, and he does bear a striking resemblance to James Corden. So could he be Stormageddon all grown up?
As an American, a huge part of DW and Sherlock's appeal is its Britishness. It's a small peek into British culture and it helps make the show unique here in the States. I do, though, appreciate the nods here and there to the US (i.e. the episodes either shot here or that take place here) that are acknowledgements of the growing and strong fanbase here.

Huh....so much for the guy who ran in at the beginning of TNOTD. I do like the idea of a Rory-esque trial run assuming he'll be a regular in series 9. Barring any love story, I'm looking forward to what he has to bring to the show. Sidenote: Anyone got any good reference clips for an American who has no idea what the other shows he's been in are?

I think a great episode for Strax would be one in which he had to go up against his more ruthless siblings. It would allow him to show his, er, human side, is loyalty to his friends, and his military acumen against the ferocious might of a true Sontaran army.

@Shadowbomb Hm, I see what you're saying. I just don't know if we need any more Masters or Ranis running around the universe. I like the idea of the Time Lords coming back MORE pious and tripping up the Doctor from doing the thing he's been doing for millennia
5 months, 2 weeks ago on A forecast on Capaldi’s Doctor: The Frustrated Optimist
I was with you riiiiiight up until you wanted the Time Lords to be warmongering psycopaths upon their return. The whole point of freezing them in a parallel universe was to give them "hope" as Eleven said, so that they could return to their peaceful ways. And, indeed, in TTOTD (tttdd..dtod....) the Doctor said that if they came through the crack they'd come in peace. Personally, I always liked the Time Lords as noninterventionists with a stick up their butts. It made them a great contrast to the emotional, intervening Doctor.
