I think the children in this series have done very well. They are written as actual children, not what some adult writers perceive as how children should be (happens way too often in TV). They all had unique personalities that made them seem more than just a group of kids. This episode reminds me of when I took my cousins' kids on a walk with my dog. I constantly had to watch out for them, answer questions, and hope that no one ran off.

@LaraHarris Er...but it DOES say "pull to open" and the Doctor pushes to get INTO the TARDIS (getting out he pulls, but that's not what the door sign means, it means Pull to open when entering)

Um, I liked Nightmare in Silver a lot. Matt Smith as Mr. Clever was genius, I liked the idea of an abandoned amusement park as the scene of a battle (especially holding up in the castle). I love the new look of the Cybermen. And the only halfway annoying thing about it was Angie but it didn't deter too much from the episode. And freakin Warwick Davis!!......And anyone who says they didn't squeal a little when Matt Smith said "Fantastic!" and "Allons-y" is a liar.

And in terms of female writers...that's just one aspect of the show. There are plenty female producers, editors, actors, crew, staff, etc. etc. I get the point, that it would be nice to have some more women in the writer's room, but it shouldn't be the only thing that defines this show.

@The17thDoctor @JLS1138 I'd say Twelve started out leagues ahead of One in terms of showing his caring side, even if it's masked under some brusqueness. I also think a lot of people expect a full and complete picture of every character without giving them a chance to live out their arc.

The Doctor meeting Ian after all this time is right up there with him seeing SJS again and deserves, if not a full episode, then definitely a minisode as have some have suggested.

My favorite moment? The kid reading Pride and Prejudice checks out Clara's butt as she walks by to talk to the Doctor in the window. He is my hero.

Also, when the Doctor is wiping away "Ozzie loves the Squaddie" he says "Kids, what's the matter with kids today?" Which is a line from a song of the same name from the musical Bye Bye Birdie which, you guessed it, premiered in 1963.

And the Doctor's face when she says the other teacher isn't her type. (Obviously I'm rewatching it right now)

@TylerNightingale @JLS1138 Just threw it out there for fun, Tyler. Perhaps a Baby Angel would want to hide so it didn't turn to stone. It could then move around, remove the blanket, and then disappear without having to worry about being seen....but again, it was just a throwaway idea for kicks.

Number 2 is the biggest reason BBC won't pull the plug on Doctor Who anytime soon. So long as they're raking in enough money to fill the TARDIS, they'll be juuust fine keeping it where it is.

1 month, 2 weeks ago on Why The Decline in Overnight Ratings Doesn’t Matter

I think there was a monster, or perhaps a lost little alien (baby Weeping Angel?) because something was definitely behind Clara when it removed the blanket. And I think it was meant to be a counterpoint to the end of the story, as if to say "there are no monsters under the bed.....unless there are!"

While I love the idea of Nick Frost possibly playing another goofy Sontaran (my first thought on reading this) I really hope we get to see a confrontation in which Strax has to choose between his own people and the Paternoster Gang

Capaldi's best episode yet, and I'd argue one of the greatest of New Who. Character driven, the right kind of creepy, a few surprises and the BIG shocker at the end. Just incredible.

I also think we're clearly seeing "Question:" becoming 12's catchphrase. Ever the teacher (much like Clara).  So, with that in mind....Question: Did Clara give the young Doctor the army figurine? If so, how did young Rupert get it?

Other Question: Is Courtney really going to join the TARDIS team? In just two quick snippets she's already annoyed the crap out of me

I think it's tough to say right now. Deep Breath is still fresh in our minds and hasn't has as much time to marinate (for better or worse). Also, the Eleventh Hour can now be viewed in the entire context of the Eleventh Doctor's arc. Both are amazing, but I think Deep Breath was such a different first outing that it might juuust come out on top on my list.

@Planet of the Deaf I do like having one "go to" channel for things like Doctor Who, Orphan Black, etc. I just wish they'd put Sherlock on but hey, if I have to tune to PBS for one show for three weeks every two years, it's no biggie.

By the way...anyone think that "Missy" and this "3W" organization (hinted at in the episode descriptions in a previous article) control regenerations? Could explain why Missy has such an obsession with the Doctor and why she said "I like his new accent, I think I'll keep it"

I would absolutely love to see an episode where Strax is forced to choose between the Paternoster Gang and rejoining the Sontarans in battle (against the Doctor and the Paternoster Gang). I though they were getting played out but Deep Breath reminded me why they're awesome.

@ Notsosmartguy the dalek of Jersey I don't think so, Jersey. I don't think he has any control over it ("Regeneration, it's a lottery") but subconsciously might be influenced by people he's met.

I've said before, I think a 10th anniversary special is too much too soon (although they could certainly make that particular episode something memorable for the Twelfth Doctor). I do think, though, for Series 10 it might be cool to do a little something.

Here's the thing...I don't think it needs to be addressed BUT Moffat just had to pull out the convo he had with RTD and Russ' idea of how it could work. So, I think it's good that they'll address it in a low-key way and then move on.

Anyone else think this "younger/handsomer" thing is so typical of the Internet these days? We keep talking about how people won't like Capaldi because he's older and not as good-looking as Matt and David but, God's honest truth, I have not heard one single person actually make that claim. I think we EXPECT people to think like that, so article upon article upon interview talks about it, then we start believing that it's the prevailing mindset (I'm sure it's been uttered here and there, but not in a systemic way) and then we defend against it.

I think anytime the Doctor refers to the numbering, it's for the companion's sake. Also, I think we need to separate when he counts his regenerations ("eleventh" to Craig, "number ten once.." to Clara, etc.) from actually calling himself "The Eleventh Doctor". As for TNOTD, Clara said "you're the eleventh Doctor"...a) she could have just been talking about his regenerations, using a small "e" for eleventh, and b) She's out window into this world, so she would arbitrarily number him like we do.
