I used to get all up In a huff about everyone insisting the Doctor got a gender change too but I took a long hard think about it and definitely after seeing Gomez I now have the opinion, 'What is there to worry about?' Only that writers won't write the Doctor in the same way, if anything at all I might even be a tad excited. But only if it's done in the right way if they just go 'right the next ones gonna be a woman' that would be a wrong approach but if an actress walked into the room and was the Doctor id be all for it! But not someone like Helen bloody Mirren, more someone like Natasha O'Keeffe or Natalie Dormer

I agree that it was the weakest of the Season, however for that to be the weakest of the season is a remarkable result and testament to this fantastic series!
Still think Kill the Moon is getting beyond harsh criticism... (How on earth did Rings of Akhaten get higher!? Perhaps I've given up trying to work out this fandom)

You know every poll I appreciate people's opinions and take on the story; this one I don't. Quite frankly I think the people who call it Clara Who are rude and obnoxious. What's worse is that these were the people who called her underdeveloped in Series 7. Are you upset she's been given depth? These people just want an excuse to hate her. I don't know if you've ever watched Doctor Who before but the leads are the Doctor and the Companion, and people saying Capaldi has lost screen time? What a joke! Capaldi has dominated the screen and they've worked together brilliantly. This view of the companion should be sidelined is the same view that was held against RTD for actually bringing human drama into the revival and depth to his characters as opposed to pure space. Honestly if these so-called Clara Who haters want to go back to a dull and misoginystic time where the companions were flat and just screamed for help or fetched tea, then they can do that and they can leave New Who alone. Because the show is written by excellent writers who realize the importance of the friends of the Doctor and our gateway into the show, and if you don't like that it's your problem not the show's.
5 months ago on Poll: Is Clara Overshadowing the Doctor?
Should point out at this point, yes I've watched all of Classic Who and it is excellent all actors included, but it's no secret (as all the actors talk about it on the commentary) that the companions were terribly written and there was a real lack of any human drama or emotion.
Where are the code crackers? Keeping quiet today, maybe the codes have to be translated between dimensions to be cracked...

Sounds super exciting! I just hope Moff doesn't use the concept to take a massive jab at organized religion. RTD liked to poke fun at it from time to time, I just hope Moffat doesn't make the same mistake.

Series 8 so far...
1. Listen - 9/10
2. Time Heist - 8/10
3. Robots of Sherwood - 8/10
4. The Caretaker - 8/10
5. Deep Breath - 7/10
6. Into the Dalek - 7/10

In Order so far.
1. Listen - 9/10 - Beautifully constructed, mind you if any of you get the chance look up the leaked version because I actually found the music in the opening and the closing scenes gave a completely different tone then the final version and I actually much more preferred it. Strange I know, but look it up if you get the chance.
2. Time Heist - 8/10 - I love Steve Thompson's Who writing and this was another cracker, fast paced and off-world excitement. I love the architect being the Doctor, great twist, I just wish it would have had more time.
3. Robots of Sherwood - 8/10 - Fun and absolutely hilarious, one of Gatiss' best.
4. Deep Breath - 7/10 - The monster plotline was a bit dull, but Capaldi was amazing and the handling of the post-regeneration was done gorgeously especially the end scene.
5. Into the Dalek - 7/10 - A Fun romp with nice visual effects, but nothing special, not one of those episodes I'd be too interested to rewatch multiple times.

@Hibernus That's so true! There's not an absolute classic out of his Who episodes. But An Adventure in Space and Time stood out as a masterpiece! Up there with the best of Doctor Who episodes. If only we could get gorgeous writing like that form every episode he does!

Actually in order:
1. Victory of the Daleks
2. Robots of Sherwood
3. Cold War
4. The Crimson Horror
5. The Idiot's Lantern
6. The Unquiet Dead
7. Night Terrors
Gatiss is far from my favourite writer, there are some not so good ones. But those first three are solid 8/10's for me.
Robots of Sherwood was potentially his best, but I think Victory of the Daleks just takes it for me.
Guys are we missing an obvious point here? Missy sent Clara an ad in the paper inviting her for lunch on the other side... As in the other side of life... Missy asked Clara to die and to come to heaven.

I really want Moffat to go when Capaldi goes, a show runner means an entire new era to the show and we can see that didn't work well when Tom Baker stayed an extra series. When Matt and Moff came together it was all new and a huge breath of fresh air I really want a new show runner to start with a new Doctor so we can feel the new era come into place.

6 months, 3 weeks ago on Interview: Billy Hanshaw on Series 8’s Title Sequence
Guys, have we all missed the most obvious and terrifying thing that Missy has already done? It's a no brainer that she was the woman in the shop and left the ad in the paper... What we don't realize is that perhaps we've compeltely misinterpreted the ad in the paper. Missy clearly lives or holds domain in some place she calls heaven... We keep seeing people die and going to heaven... the last episode is called 'Death in Heaven'... So why are we ignoring the fact that Missy left an ad for Clara (The Impossible Girl), saying "Lunch on the other side"? As in the other side of life... The ad in the newspaper was an invitation from Missy to Clara... to die and come to heaven... [Well that's what I believe anyway...]

Yes! The Howell scream was so damn exciting at the end of each episode.
6 months, 4 weeks ago on Examining Series 8’s New Title Sequence
The visuals in the titles are really good and interesting, far better than Series 7, but still feel a bit flat for some reason. Both these and the Series 7 titles don't feel very 3D if you get what I mean? Frankly Hanshaw's animation was better.
And let's be honest I think the good majority disagrees with the OP on the music, I personally like Smith's first music; a crossover with that and Howell's would be perfect. But the terrible screech is at the bottom of the title music for me among with Glynn and McCullogh (or however you pronounce it)
Easily The Eleventh Hour, my all time favourite story. Deep Breath really gave me a lot of amazing ness out of Capaldi and Jenna too but the story in itself is average. The Eleventh Hour was something entirely new that was amazing from start to finish. Never had I been so amazed by a doctor who episode. I spent $250 on the phone bill watching it 3 times the day it premiered while I was away camping.

And just neatly shove Deep Breath between 1 and 2
7 months ago on Top Post-Regeneration Stories (5-1)
1. The Eleventh Hour
2. The Movie
4. The Christmas Invasion
5. Spearhead from Space
7. An Unearthly Child
8. The Power of the Daleks
10. Time and the Rani
11. The Twin Dilemma
I don't think 'Am I a Good Man' is an arc at all, I think it'll just be a one episode thing. His personality is definitely a thing, there'll be focus on him being quite darker. But lets be honest he's not that different that we think he is a bad person now and it'll be hard to try and sell that to us. He won't be like he was at the end TWOM. I also hope Moffat leaves when Capaldi leaves. The transition from RTD to Moffat worked perfectly because everything was new, Moffat was allowed to make a new era. It's pretty slack to start a tone and era for Doctor Who and then pass it on to someone else instead of allowing them to reshape Doctor Who.

10 months ago on The Top Stories & Doctors (According to DWM 2014)
@Romanadvoratrelundar @Oncoming_Badger Understandable, I suppose it's not up at the very top of my list because I felt it didn't meet my expectations but was really just a good story (Mainly cause of the lack of Classics, but also due to what I felt was just a basic Zygon subplot when I was much more interested in the Gallifrey stuff). Perhaps spectacular and memorable and it's understandable that it got that high cause everybody gave it a good ranking. But still read my comment in response to Seaborn. P.S. Just so everyone knows I still love Day of the Doctor and give it like a solid 9/10, sorry if it sounds like I'm bagging it out, it's just not my definition of a classic or perfect.
@Seaborn W Deadman Yeah it was fun and all, but Doctor Who at its best isn't just a pool of all the history of Doctor Who. It's the episode that create the history of Doctor Who. The well written stories that could be a movie in their own right. People keep asking why Blink is up there, it's not in my top 10 but it's easily understandable it creates it's own legacy as a punchy and original well-crafted story with a monster that has gone down in history. The Caves of Androzani is up there because it went from your Monday Night monster special to a terrifically shot Dark Sci-Fi story with stunning actors and a killer shakespearean style script. I'll say again Day of the Doctor is a fantastically fun story, but it's not Doctor Who at it's finest or what has created the legacy to such a monumental show.
@Malohkeh @Oncoming_Badger Ok Hype is the right word for Day, but you know it's just the more recently something aired the more extreme the opinion is on an episode. You know it kind of takes some time to see whether a few years later you still think an episode is that great or that bad and I think that over time both of those stories will have their positions change a fair bit.
I feel some of these 2013 episodes are going to be an inaccurate ranking as a result of episode hype still hanging. People will realize Rings of Akhaten is better over time and Day of the Doctor is great but it doesn't deserve #1, is it honestly the best episode of all time just cause it's the 50th? Shouldn't it be a story that was just part of its season that triumphed and showed the skill of an average Doctor Who episode? Interesting results but I don't believe it should be up there.
I'm sorry, but that's the reason there is still distance between me and the 50th. I sometimes ask myself why do I get so mad when people rave about day of the doctor? It's such a good episode! But I remember that, that was the chance to bring back 4-8 it honestly wouldn't have been as hard as moff said and we missed that chance and there's a part of me that will never get over that.
10 months, 1 week ago on Smith on 50th Classic Doctor Criticisms
I really love Cold War stylistically, I think it triumphs in that area these excellent wet dripping claustrophobic corridors with light sirens in the background, it's very tense and beautiful. But Dalek is a stronger episode for the narrative style, the sheer unstoppable power of the Dalek and One of Eccleston's strongest performances.

While I'm happy that Day won, I don't have much respect for the BAFTAs in general the film ones snub a lot of terrific films including her which got no nominations at the BAFTAs this year and the TV ones are worse only nominated the cruddy soaps and never even giving a BAFTA to Matt Smith is a joke. Congrats to Who, but you deserve better than the snobby BAFTAs
10 months, 1 week ago on 2014 BAFTA Television Awards: Day Triumphs!
Doctor Who wouldn't be Doctor Who without that theme tune, if you took it away it would be a stab in the back and a very slow death to a monumental show. I'm sorry but there's no way it would ever work, no matter what you made.
10 months, 1 week ago on The Theme – Time for a Change?
As brilliant as one part story can be I feel like we don't get the same cinematicly crafted and perfectly timed stories like we do in Empty Child, Parting of the Ways, Impossible Planet, Human Nature, Time of Angels, etc. I'm very much looking forward to a two parter, especially if it's the finale, The Wedding of River Song and Name of the Doctor are the two weakest finales cause they only go for 50 minutes IMO
