Guys, have we all missed the most obvious and terrifying thing that Missy has already done? It's a no brainer that she was the woman in the shop and left the ad in the paper... What we don't realize is that perhaps we've compeltely misinterpreted the ad in the paper. Missy clearly lives or holds domain in some place she calls heaven... We keep seeing people die and going to heaven... the last episode is called 'Death in Heaven'... So why are we ignoring the fact that Missy left an ad for Clara (The Impossible Girl), saying "Lunch on the other side"? As in the other side of life... The ad in the newspaper was an invitation from Missy to Clara... to die and come to heaven... [Well that's what I believe anyway...]

The visuals in the titles are really good and interesting, far better than Series 7, but still feel a bit flat for some reason. Both these and the Series 7 titles don't feel very 3D if you get what I mean? Frankly Hanshaw's animation was better.

And let's be honest I think the good majority disagrees with the OP on the music, I personally like Smith's first music; a crossover with that and Howell's would be perfect. But the terrible screech is at the bottom of the title music for me among with Glynn and McCullogh (or however you pronounce it)

Easily The Eleventh Hour, my all time favourite story. Deep Breath really gave me a lot of amazing ness out of Capaldi and Jenna too but the story in itself is average. The Eleventh Hour was something entirely new that was amazing from start to finish. Never had I been so amazed by a doctor who episode. I spent $250 on the phone bill watching it 3 times the day it premiered while I was away camping.

I don't think 'Am I a Good Man' is an arc at all, I think it'll just be a one episode thing. His personality is definitely a thing, there'll be focus on him being quite darker. But lets be honest he's not that different that we think he is a bad person now and it'll be hard to try and sell that to us. He won't be like he was at the end TWOM. I also hope Moffat leaves when Capaldi leaves. The transition from RTD to Moffat worked perfectly because everything was new, Moffat was allowed to make a new era. It's pretty slack to start a tone and era for Doctor Who and then pass it on to someone else instead of allowing them to reshape Doctor Who.

@Romanadvoratrelundar @Oncoming_Badger Understandable, I suppose it's not up at the very top of my list because I felt it didn't meet my expectations but was really just a good story (Mainly cause of the lack of Classics, but also due to what I felt was just a basic Zygon subplot when I was much more interested in the Gallifrey stuff). Perhaps spectacular and memorable and it's understandable that it got that high cause everybody gave it a good ranking. But still read my comment in response to Seaborn. P.S. Just so everyone knows I still love Day of the Doctor and give it like a solid 9/10, sorry if it sounds like I'm bagging it out, it's just not my definition of a classic or perfect.

@Seaborn W Deadman Yeah it was fun and all, but Doctor Who at its best isn't just a pool of all the history of Doctor Who. It's the episode that create the history of Doctor Who. The well written stories that could be a movie in their own right. People keep asking why Blink is up there, it's not in my top 10 but it's easily understandable it creates it's own legacy as a punchy and original well-crafted story with a monster that has gone down in history. The Caves of Androzani is up there because it went from your Monday Night monster special to a terrifically shot Dark Sci-Fi story with stunning actors and a killer shakespearean style script. I'll say again Day of the Doctor is a fantastically fun story, but it's not Doctor Who at it's finest or what has created the legacy to such a monumental show.

@Malohkeh @Oncoming_Badger Ok Hype is the right word for Day, but you know it's just the more recently something aired the more extreme the opinion is on an episode. You know it kind of takes some time to see whether a few years later you still think an episode is that great or that bad and I think that over time both of those stories will have their positions change a fair bit.

3 months ago on The Top Stories & Doctors (According to DWM 2014)

I feel some of these 2013 episodes are going to be an inaccurate ranking as a result of episode hype still hanging. People will realize Rings of Akhaten is better over time and Day of the Doctor is great but it doesn't deserve #1, is it honestly the best episode of all time just cause it's the 50th? Shouldn't it be a story that was just part of its season that triumphed and showed the skill of an average Doctor Who episode? Interesting results but I don't believe it should be up there.

I'm sorry, but that's the reason there is still distance between me and the 50th. I sometimes ask myself why do I get so mad when people rave about day of the doctor? It's such a good episode! But I remember that, that was the chance to bring back 4-8 it honestly wouldn't have been as hard as moff said and we missed that chance and there's a part of me that will never get over that.

I really love Cold War stylistically, I think it triumphs in that area these excellent wet dripping claustrophobic corridors with light sirens in the background, it's very tense and beautiful. But Dalek is a stronger episode for the narrative style, the sheer unstoppable power of the Dalek and One of Eccleston's strongest performances.

While I'm happy that Day won, I don't have much respect for the BAFTAs in general the film ones snub a lot of terrific films including her which got no nominations at the BAFTAs this year and the TV ones are worse only nominated the cruddy soaps and never even giving a BAFTA to Matt Smith is a joke. Congrats to Who, but you deserve better than the snobby BAFTAs

Doctor Who wouldn't be Doctor Who without that theme tune, if you took it away it would be a stab in the back and a very slow death to a monumental show. I'm sorry but there's no way it would ever work, no matter what you made.

As brilliant as one part story can be I feel like we don't get the same cinematicly crafted and perfectly timed stories like we do in Empty Child, Parting of the Ways, Impossible Planet, Human Nature, Time of Angels, etc. I'm very much looking forward to a two parter, especially if it's the finale, The Wedding of River Song and Name of the Doctor are the two weakest finales cause they only go for 50 minutes IMO

I'm not all for the constant reuse of villains... The only two id like to see again are the beast and the dream lord, and I think the beast is such a powerful enemy any more uses than the one story he was in would ruin him. Sometimes it's good to just preserve a classic.

I think the best way to do a Doctor Who movie would be to kick off a new era. Say in 5 years Capaldi steps down and Moffat steps down at the same time. You have a new show runner, new doctor, new everyone, and you do a year long break before doing a big blockbuster movie that opens the new series. That would be the dream...

Easily A Christmas Carol, sorry but a 50th with no Classics and a crap Zygon subplot, regardless of how good it still is, doesn't stand a chance for me against a brilliant fairytale come to life, just the cinematography, production design and visuals for the whole episode are stunning and plays a clever twist on the Christmas Carol with Michael Gambon owning the stage.

The Trenzalore one does still make me scratch my head, but I have my own sort of answer for TATM. So much of Amy's Story is the Doctor sadly accepting that she'll chose Rory over him and TATM was finally saying he can't ignore it anymore she chooses him so he probably did work out how he could go get her, but he realized sadly that maybe it was time to let her get on with life.

The Impossible Planet easily. Matt Jones two parter is one of the most brilliant Doctor Who stories in it's entire history to date there is nothing like it. It threw the Doctor and Rose way out of their depths into a world far away from home and you kind of felt the intense space the enormous gravity in the danger of space travel and the absolutely bone chilling use of the devil as the enemy, not to mention this is Murray Gold at his finest as 'The Impossible Planet' is a hauntingly beautiful piece. The whole story is beautifully crafted to challenge not only the TARDIS crew but also the viewers and give a really engulfing image of what space travel is really like it is absolutely one of the best pieces of television I've ever seen in my life.

Straight out, 42 is one of the best episodes ever because it felt so of it's time like a proper scary action space blockbuster confined into 42 minutes. We don't even have time to get to know the crew everything we learn is extremely under pressure and on the clock even the Doctor is terrified and the scenes where he goes to save Martha or is possessed leave you gripping your seat when your half way standing up. Then the idea that the sun is sentient and in pain from being scooped out. Possibly one of not only the best Who episodes ever but one of the most underrated who episodes ever.
