I could not agree more. Apart from some stand out episodes from the earlier seasons (most of which were written by Mr. MOFF) it wasn't until the 11th hour that I really felt like I was watching the same Doctor I had loved as a kid. For me Matt Smith is one of the best Doctors ever, hands down the best of the modern series.

I think once the 12th Doctor is firmly established it would be awesome to see more of the 8th. Mr Moffat has said that there should only be one Doctor at a time, but if anyone can keep up with multiple versions of a character its Doctor Who fans. The fact that there are different versions of the main character is one of the biggest drawcards of the whole show. The 8th Doctor as an amnesiac companion to the 12th could be cool for a while.

How about Earthshock where the Doctor refuses to rescue Adric in the Tardis? Nyssa is all like "Why don't we just pop back and get him before the spaceship crashes" and the Doctor says "No! We can NEVER do that! Don't ever ask me to do that again." Even as a 5 year old I knew it was because Adric was SUPER ANNOYING and needed to stay dead. Plot holes rule.

I really like Clara as a companion but I would love to see more companions from other eras and other worlds. Contemporary Britain has been done to death.

I love this story. Everything I love about Doctor Who is represented here. A classic for me.

Why do so many people seem to think that series 6 was so flawed? What was wrong with it? I thought it was awesome.

Agreed. As a kid the 5th Doctor made me feel safe, despite what happened to Adric.
1 year ago on Would you travel with the Doctor? Pros and Cons
Rather than rating my 'favourite' Doctor I tend to think of which one I would travel with. The answer is probably none of them... 1 was too grumpy, 2 was too skittish, 3 maybe? 4 was too dangerous, 5 possibly? (Although look what happened to Adric) 6 too grumpy again, 7 too unpredictable, 8 almost but who knows? 9 too sulky, 10 too annoying, 11 just about but I'm not sure, 12 uh oh! Travel with the Doctor at your own risk. Stranded in time or space? Left in a slightly wrong suburb in a slightly wrong year? Killed/revived/killed/revived/stranded in time? "Someday I will come back!" (Except that I won't), "You were the greatest Romana of them all!" (There were two). "THIS IS NOT HEATHROW AIRPORT!"
Yeah and the Doctor travels through time and space by flicking switches too. Come to think of it I have seen plenty of rampant switch flicking in pretty much every science fiction show I have ever seen! It really is a problem.
I like to think that lots of characters are gay or bi, but we never find out because it isn't important to the plot. I try not to assume anyone's sexuality is default hetro. This is why I love Canton so much; he is not defined by his sexuality, he's just super awesome and he happens to like dudes. BRING BACK CANTON

This reminds me: where is Canton? He was one of the best companions in Doctor Who history.
I loved John Hurt as the Doctor but I would have liked to see more of the 8th Doctor in the 50th. He was excellent.

I see each regeneration as being different aspects of the exact same entity. Not death, but renewal. The Doctor is always the Doctor, no matter what body he wears. I don't think he is deminished by regenerating, just replenished. 10's speech on death can be attributed to his life condition at the time, perhaps being tired of changing or not ready to change, but at the end of the day, he did not die. He is not seperate from 11, he is exactly the same creature in a new body. 12 is also the exact same character, new regeneration cycle or not. It is hard not to get attached to any particular incarnation but it is important to remember that they are all one and the same and that no matter how many regenerations he has, there is only one Doctor.
