Time travelling fruit, not a vegetable.
Makes me nostalgic for all the multimedia stuff we got from 2005-2007, all of those flash games and tie-in sites!

I agree, you can hardly measure the quality of an episode based on how many people watched it on its first broadcast, unless of course they're time travellers. Some of the worst episodes of the show have had high figures, sometimes due to hype, sometimes due to luck.

A show that just came back from a massive world tour a few months ago, has gotten to the point where everybody knows about it, which one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood has expressed interest in featuring in and is reported in the news internationally in this year a lone isn't as popular as it was? Trust me, people aren't pointlessly justifying the drop due to catch up services, I know dozens of fans who only watch it on Iplayer and literally only three who watch it live, and people with a casual interest who watch episodes that end up widely talk about on these services later, too. These ratings are no different to last year's, the same year in which the anniversary special's cinema release sold out in cinemas across the globe.
Probably because a Time Lord legend trying to break into out universe to feed on time and reality sounds a bit too much like The Three Doctors. Would have loved to see it though, my mental image is sodding horrific.

No full print novels, I'm afraid. They seem to be doing a trilogy a year now. Still, you can hardly blame them with what the economy has been like of the past few years.

That voice was 100% Lalla Ward, no question. She probably narrates a small section on Gallifrey's history in character or something.

They have less budget this year due to the 50th, not more. That's why we're short one episode this year and had a split last year, so that they could put more money into the special.

Pharaohs were worshiped as Gods in Ancient Egypt, so if say, Queen Hatshepsut's mummy were aboard the train, she would be considered a goddess loose on the Orient Express.

SCP 173 was created before the episode was aired, but the episode was written late 2006/early 2007, so unless Moffat has a time machine, I doubt it. And the Silence is closer to Slenderman than any thing on the Foundation, and Moffat claimed to have no idea who he was back in when he had Twitter.

It's not too far off how they did it in the mid 70's... It could work.
Amy was a Kissogram, Rory was a Nurse, (both living in a small English village,) River was from the 51st century, Clara was a Barmaid in Victorian times, Entertainment Manager in the future and Nanny in the 21st century, later becoming a teacher. "hyper attractive middle-class professionals." Are you also saying Rose and Martha weren't as attractive as Amy or Clara?

BREAKING NEWS: DOCTOR WHO RATINGS DANGEROUSLY LOW FOR 9TH YEAR IN A ROW, LOCK YOUR DOORS, NO ONE IS SAFE!
Interestingly, in the leaked version (which I watched shortly after) Rusty was transmatted to the Dalek ship and destroyed it, using a combination between stock footage from Dalek (the self destruct sequence) and a green screen (obviously a stand in). I wonder why that was removed...?

Remembrance of the Daleks is probably the best of the best when it comes to making fans of the Classic series. You can't really go wrong with any 80's Dalek story, to be honest IMO.
The BBC really need to chose who they do exclusives with once and for all. We've had Wii/DS exclusives, PS3/Vita exclusives and now this. We're not made of money, as much as I'm sure we'd love to be, Auntie Beeb. :P

As pointed out in the episode, of course Tyrannosauruses were never that big in real life, (in reality they're no bigger than this one's head!) It looked to me like a sneaky reference to The Invasion of Dinosaurs and/or the novelisation of The Silurians, both of which feature unexplained oversized Dinosaurs. Also, to make a dramatic entrance at the beginning of a new season and a new Doctor.
Hartnell: Policeman walking in fog.
Davison: Oddly dressed bunch running from security at the Pharos Project.
Eccleston: Pan on a digital alarm clock.
Capaldi: DINOSAUR OVER VICTORIAN LONDON SPITS OUT TARDIS NEXT TO BIG BEN.
This is rivalled only by McCoy's entrance on the strangeness scale. I mean come on, TARDIS attacked by horrible laser beams uses its rainbow powers to crash land in a quarry, watched only by an oddly dressed yellow person in fancy dress who runs in a disturbing fashion, followed by a hairy, multi-eyed bat entering said TARDIS, prompting Sylvester McCoy to remove the wig of his Colin Baker costume with his magic wizard powers. "Leave the girl, it's the man I want."
Say what you want about Time and the Rani... It one heck of an entrance.

For Australian ratings Doctor Who has done insanely well, beaten only by X Factor, the various news and current affair programs that copy each other so much they heavily watermark their own stuff and a rubbish reality programme about people building houses.

I agree, I've never really liked the more moody Ace from the NAs, I'd have preferred it if Big Finish just didn't worry about making it in the style of the books to the letter, and instead worried about making a cracking 7th Doctor/Ace/Benny story.
