My vote goes to Flatline, hugely because of the Boneless. Most effective and memorable effects I've seen on Doctor Who. Really well done. A special mention goes to In the Forest if the Night.

YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is just so much I love about this article. What a great thing to wake up to in the morning (morning in Australia). Firstly, Toby Whitehouse. He is one of my favourite Doctor Who writers, I love every episode he's done (Vampires not as much, but is still great). The God Complex is one of my favourite episodes of all time, mand I would really love a return to the creepy tone of that episode. Secondly, a two parter! And having a two parter early in the season suggests (to me) a return to the season 5 and Russell T Davis format. That is something I would be really happy with. I love two parters, and it means episodes will have more breathing room. Thirdly, the two parter is scary. I love scary Doctor Who episodes, and especially when they are two parters. Fourthly, a big guest cast. Even though I barely know these people, a big guest cast could easily mean a bigger scope, a more epic feel to the episode. Also, that could also mean a big body count. In conclusion, I'm really happy and am looking forward to series 9!

My wish list for Doctor Who series 9:

Ep1: Steven Moffat (you all know!) - with a cool, action packed episode set in the Industrial Rvolution.

Ep2: Neil Cross (Hide) - with a scary episode that will give us nightmares. In the far future on a barren, uninhabited planet except for a team of scientists. Featuring an immortal, ancient monster that was the former king of the planet before it fell to ruin as the villain.

Ep3: Robert Shearman (Dalek) - an episode with a sinister robot on a spaceship. Possibly an evil A.I similar to 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Ep4: Tom MacRae (The Girl Who Waited) - the first part of a two parter. The Doctor and companion lands on a majestic far away planet, which has a sinister secret.

Ep5: Tom MacRae (The Girl Who Waited) - the second part of a two parter. The secret is that the planet is secretly Mondas and is ruled by the Cybermen. They plan to move the planet back to where it was before, next to Earth, where they will also try to convert all humans on Earth. The Doctor has been kidnapped, and it is up to the companion to save the day.

Ep6: Toby Whithouse (The God Complex) - an episode with a scary tone and a claustrophobic location. Must be intense, and has a scary monster hunting down the characters that we don't glimpse until the end. Set in the past, possibly the Industrial Revolution. Mixture between Midnight and The God Complex.

Ep7: Matt Jones (The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit) - a companion-lite episode with a lot of danger and peril, on another planet. The Doctor is separated from his companion, and must navigate his way through a perilous world full of monsters.

Ep8: Jamie Mathieson (Mummy on the Orient Express) - the first part of a two parter. The Doctor and his companion land in future Earth, which is suffering through its second ice age. The Doctor and his companion begin investigating a string of murders, and discovers that the Ice Warriors were the ones who have covered the world in ice, and are plotting to make Earth their new home.

Ep9: Jamie Mathieson (Mummy on the Orient Express) - the second part of a two parter. The Doctor and his companion race against time to stop the Ice Warriors from killing humanity to make Earth their own.

Ep10: Simon Nye (Amy's Choice) - A cheap episode set only in the TARDIS console room, where the Doctor and his companion are being messed with by an evil presence.

Ep11: Steven Moffat (you all know!) - exciting, epic part one of a two part finale.

Ep12: Steven Moffat (you all know!) - exciting, epic part two of a two part finale that concludes the series arc.

Christmas Special: Steven Moffat (you all know!) - his classic Christmas special. Will be emotional and epic, as it is Moffat's last episode as show runner before he gives it to Toby Whitehouse.

I was surprised after watching the episode, to go and see what other people thought about it, to find out that most people (to me) disliked it. This was very strange for me as I though it did almost everything perfectly. Oh well. I think many people are trying to find its flaws instead of it's pros, which slightly depresses me. The worst I've ever given an episode is 5/10, which goes to Fear Her. Yes, I gave Love & Monsters 6/10.

Danny - any scene with Danny was heartbreaking. I'm so emotional right now.

In a lot of ways, these two episodes are very similar. They are close to the finale, they have an overall dark tone, they have an evolved sort of human (Futurekind and Cybermen) as the enemies, they have a huge cliffhanger, and they both have a totally awesome Master reveal at the end.

Despite their similarities, I pick Dark Water.

Danny's 'death'

Clara's dream sequence

The Cybermen reveal - knew it was coming, but was cool, creepy and clever.

Danny's past revealed

The Missy being Master reveal - was good...

Cons:

The whole episode seemed to be a cliffhanger for what is to come

Clara - I'm a huge fan of Clara, and this is one of her best episodes. Loved how she acted the part of the Doctor!

The shrinking TARDIS - it's adorable

The Doctor - as per usual

Tone - started kinda cute and harmless. Then became an intriguing mystery. Then became full on horror! And it didn't feel out of place.

The climax - like many episode, the ending could have been bad. The monsters could have been too easily defeated. An un satisfying pay off. This episode wasn't one of those.

Pros:

Frank Skinner - nuff said

The Doctor - acting harsh and being investigative. Awesome.

All the other supporting characters - most episodes the last few years have had really forgettable supporting characters that I couldn't care less about. This episode had some of the best.

Clara - once again being awesome while looking lovely

The Mummy - always wanted something like this, and I loved all it's powers and mysteries, and I also liked it's resolution.

The plot twists - I didn't see that coming with the passengers being chosen by a higher power to solve the mummy problem. Really loved it.

The Orient Express - memorable location

The writing/dialogue - among the most witty and memorable of dialogue I've seen in Doctor Who. I also loved the references to the past. Particularly the jelly babies and the Doctor saying "are you my mummy?" right in the face of the Mummy. Loved it.

Cons:

The resolution of the Doctor/Clara problem too easily fixed

The first death with the Mummy didn't work for me

Overall: this series is, in my opinion, one of the best on New Who. The episodes continue to deliver high quality, and this in no exception. 9/10!
