This is BRILLIANT news! Seriously, this got me excited enough to jump out of bed and get to school and tell everyone that the inimitable Kevan Brighting is going to add "his dulcet tones" to Doctor Who! Yay! The Stanley Parable is a postmodern masterpiece brought to electrifying life by Brighting's voice work - he can do Hitchhiker's Guide style narration, gentlemanly wit, biting sarcasm, oh-so-English confusion and even villainy. This is excellent news! How can we possibly wait until August??

@Gustaff this is brilliantly written - I haven't listened to Jago and Litefoot, but I suddenly feel I need to! Will you be doing an article on Dalek Empire?

And now I am sad ... I'm sure it would've been beautiful

5 is my favourite series of New Who definitely - 4 comes close, but the very final episode lets it down. Series 5 keeps up a remarkable pace and atmosphere that is hard to beat.

Now should that be read in Matt Smith's voice or in Peter Capaldi's?

But ... what will happen to Character Building? Hmmm?

Oh look - I'm defending my favourite monsters for what must be the billionth time! Overused? No - Hartnell and Pertwee had a Dalek story almost every season. They have been mis-used; the arc villains in series 1,2,4 and 5 - and much too easily defeated in series 4 (massive letdown!). They were brilliant in Day of the Doctor, and, although perhaps not necessary in Time of the Doctor, they didn't disappoint (Tasha Lem certainly did!). New Paradigm? They are still recognisably Daleks. The colours have been darkened, the shape looks fine from the front, interesting (in a general way) from the side and their new height is impressive. They still look cunning and dangerous. It's just RTD and Moffat don't give them enough of a chance. And neither do we. It's criticism after criticism. Watch a classic Dalek story. Listen to the Dalek Empire audio spinoff. Remember why we love the Daleks as such brilliant villains, and let them have a moment of 50th glory, rather than quibbling like Gallifreyans over the cover design. Seriously - the Daleks deserve better.

@WellSpokenMan @Huknar @Friend of the Ood Well spoken indeed haha! The Time War Daleks aren't a patch on the 60s ones!
@GooberMan Hartnell and Pertwee had a Dalek story almost every season FYI. Which is a lot like ... let me think ... oh yes! Tennant and Smith! If RTD hadn't used them as the arc villain nearly all the time, I doubt opinion would have turned against them.
@NeutronFlow @Moxx Certainly got a lot against the Paradigm Daleks don't you? I think they have just as much in common with the classic daleks - if not more. Blue, red and white are traditional Dalek colours (I agree, orange is not the best choice - but they toned it down for Asylum!) and the shape has not changed too much from the front. From the side, yes, there is a hunchback - but it adds something new, something almost Machiavellian when cast in shadow. But the original design is best - not the Time War, or the New Paradigm, or even the 1970s Daleks. Hartnell and Troughton's Daleks are the best. Pure, alien terror.
Brilliant article mate - some of the best speculation I've seen on this site. And thanks for not bashing the Daleks like everybody else seems to want to.

BTW, the figures in the photo are a fan design - that's what Lego CUUSOO is all about - approving and publishing fan designs.

LEGO's great - but the Character Building range is really good - all 11 doctors with numerous characters and aliens. Just as their range is picking up speed, LEGO steps in with an announcement like this. If it's released, everyone will be in awe of the LEGO stuff, and the excellent CB stuff will fall by the wayside no doubt. I love my LEGO - but surely whoever granted them this licence would have known about the other stuff :(
@GaryKingston you should listen to Jubilee - the audio (by the same writer) that was the basis for Dalek. 10x better, easily. Give it a go :D
