Being a HUGE Keeley Hawes fan, Episode 5 looks like my dream episode, but the entire series looks great. Seems we were right about the Dalek episode being episode 2, and the CGI-less episode 4 looks interesting, particularly as the description makes it sound like Midnight.. Series finale looks good, especially if the rumours coming from filming are true, this looks like it's going to be a great series, possibly the best we've had. Ever.1 month to go!

@The Finn I'm sure there's likely to be a small celebration, but no big special, 'Day of the Doctor' was big because it had reason to be big.. Perhaps they'll get the 4 Doctors of the new era (or 5 if you count Hurt) for some big convention...

The only problem I see with this article is the reasoning behind the Daleks learning of The Doctor again in Time. It was explicitly said that they 'harvested' the information from Tasha Lem, so there may not necessarily have been many battles between The Doctor and the Daleks between Asylum and Time. Apart from that, the reasoning seems about right! Good job!

@Amy the Consulting Key Ring Neil Gaiman, Simon Nye, Richard Curtis, Neil Cross and Steven Thompson have all written episodes under Moffat but not RTD, all other Moffat writers have written under RTD aswell. I don't see your argument.

@Americanwhovian John Hurt? Richard E Grant? Derek Jacobi? Peter Capaldi? Oh well.. I don't think he'd be as good a Doctor, I always thought he'd be amusing to bring back as The Meddling Monk..

A great actor, and truly excited for what he'll do, but as a diehard Keeley fan I'm disappointed that this now knocks her news story off the headline spot on Doctorwhotv! Roll on Series 8!

@Me and Stuff @KingoftheOod4450 Precisely. I'd just have to think back to 10's regneration energy covering a similar, if not greater, distance during The Christmas Invasion. Or the similar looking energy from Idris at the end of The Doctor's Wife. Regeneration energy has been shown to 'pass through the sky' before in Doctor Who, there was nothing new there...

My voting poll seems to only go up to 10/10. Naturally this isn't enough for an episode like this. Are the admins able to add options for those of us who think it deserved more than 10/10?

EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!!
@EllieBanks 'Amy Pond waking up in the middle of giving birth? And later losing her child? And she is not the least bit traumatized?' You'll forgive me if I didn't bother reading the rest of your comment, as you clearly didn't bother watching Asylum of the Daleks, which clearly shows Amy being traumatised by the events of Series 6...

I wouldn't necessarily agree with all of these. I reckon 9 is far more heart-making than heart-breaking. The discovery of Gallifrey's survival, said by the one and only Tom Baker in such a way that it was hidden under our noses the whole episode. I wouldn't call it a heart-breaker, it's SO much more than that...

@smallaustralian I'm struggling to see where it 'makes light' of LGBT people. I also don't understand why this article must be judged according to the article that preceded it, it's unlikely that people are going to make a connection between the 'Spoiler Article' about the returning monster/villain in Series 8 and the immediately preceding article about the Troughton episodes, coming to the conclusion that Salamander will make a return.

I've always thought the best episode (NuWho) to get someone into Doctor Who would be 'The Fires of Pompeii'. A good laugh, Donna's first proper trip in the TARDIS (meaning the viewer has the same experience) and answers the obvious question about using time travel very well. Throw in Davis and Capaldi and they'll be set. It's not a perfect episode, but that's not what you want to introduce people to Doctor Who. I think so many people had issues with The Time of The Doctor because The Day of The Doctor was so big, momentous (and perfect in my opinion). Show them a middling-to-good episode, then bring in Blink a few episodes later as an example of how good it can get..
I rewatched this episode in December and was absolutely convinced by it. I could almost imagine it as a classic H.G Wells or Iain Banks sci-fi novel. A brilliant idea, brilliantly executed.
Although, as with the original watch in 2010, I felt let down by the end, as it didn't really leave the Dream Lord open to a return. Which for a character I loved watching and imagining was a shame.

6/10A good episode on the whole, but when I came to rewatch Series 5 I noticed Matt Smith had a slight slump from Victory till about halfway through Flesh and Stone, so I can't mark it as highly as the previous 2 or how I intend to mark the rest of them. I appear to be in the minority who like the Paradigm Daleks though, shame really..
