I haven't checked, but I just assume.

These episodes sound mad.
@NewWho2012 I think what it means, rather, is they're paying him to write two scripts.
They might not end up in Series 8.

@Malohkeh @supermoff My main problem with "Cold War" rested in the effects, really.
Skaldak's monologues were grand.
@Gustaff I prefer Patrick's shouting methodology to the paper, really.

Capaldi can do it.
If he can make a monster like Malcolm Tucker not only sympathetic, but likeable, he can do anything. I have full faith in him.

I love a Scottish accent.
It just flows quite well.

Of course, this isn't a Nimon, and it would be ridiculous to think that.
But the Nimon breathe ridiculousness.

@NeutronFlow I'd like to see an older gentleman in the Master's role.
Emphasis on the "gentleman". What I really love about Delgado's Master, for example, is just how absolutely evil he is, while maintaining a certain level of class and honor; not to mention charm.
11 months, 3 weeks ago on Capaldi: A Mod Man In A Box?
I'm envisioning Peter's Doctor as a blur of all the Classics.
Or all the Doctors in general, really. Matt had an excellent way of channeling all his predecessors at once, with his own childish glee thrown in. I could very well see Peter doing the same, with his own fire and steel.
All great episodes.
I wish they played them in America.

@Polyphase You've never heard of Donald Glover or Bryan Cranston?
I'm so sorry.
I don't like Thompson's Doctor Who output at all. (Let's not talk about Journey.)
But, The Blind Banker aside, his work on Sherlock is quite good.

@EricPavlat You have no idea how badly I want this.
And the new Peter has writing and directorial experience.
@The8thDoctor It's not really that JNT that tried to reinvent the Doctor so much as he tried to do it very clumsily.
I vote we just kidnap Gaiman.
@Oodkind @Sharaz_Jek No, no, don't be silly.
Clearly, he'll just turn into a snake made of goo.
1 year ago on Speculating on Series 8’s “Big Bad”
@Sharaz_Jek I don't know.
Yes, the Master hates Rassilon. (Always has - it's his fault the Master knows what the Brigadier's fist tastes like, after all.) But the Master also loves the Doctor; not, perhaps, in the often times unnerving (in a bad way) subtext of Simm's Master, but definitely in a brotherly way. That's the key difference between the Master and a lesser menace; he truly respects his enemies and holds a great deal of affection for him.
I certainly think the Master would die for the Doctor. Partly out of love, and partly out of the fact that - let's be honest here - Death has no power over him.
@Liana21 I think the Black Guardian is played out at this point; and while I like his arc with Five, I don't see him running well with the more morally ambiguous new series. (It's not impossible, but it's territory they probably want to avoid.)
On the point of Omega, though - Omega is so played out that he loops around and edges himself in that little corner between "stupid" and "really stupid" we call "amazing".
@NeutronFlow Unfortunately, in effect, she just seemed like an evil Master.
I think the Rani is a great character - not because of what she was already, but because of the vast potential that 80's Doctor Who simply could not tap into.
What the hell?
It makes so little sense it becomes amazing.

@Liana21 Yeah; I like Craig. I could see a Craig-type, maybe on a more regular basis.
1 year ago on A Few Thoughts On Danny Pink
@Amy the Consulting Commentator Is that Paradigm?
I didn't think it was, but now that I think about it, I can't place it in any other period.
@Venawesomeo Peter isn't old emotionally like William was, though; he has a daughter just out of her teens, is in the best position of his career thus far, and can run, hop, skip, dance, chew out a politician, and chase a Dalek with the best of them.
Times have changed. I think it's fair to say a 2014 55 is very different from a 1963 55. (Especially since William was very sickly, even for a 55-year-old.)
@Liana21 Well, if that's how you qualify a companion - but I think my meaning was conveyed.
He doesn't have to be in the TARDIS; or be in the TARDIS for long. The Brigadier only traveled with the Doctor (maybe) twice.
@Chris502 @VortexDan Hell, maybe Clara and Danny loathe each other. (But that usually ends in kissing on TV too, so maybe not.)
Or, maybe - and I know this is a stretch - maybe he's just a friend she has because she's an adult who could conceivably have friends?
We just assume he's a companion?
Can't he just be a guy who shows up? I mean, why does there have to be anything more? I'd prefer a recurring character over a new companion.
@SonicTheHedgehogRules That format, I think, was largely responsible for why the Fifth Doctor seemed somewhat "watered down" for a good bit of his run. I don't think he really got to shine until his last couple serials as a direct result of the companion focus.
Granted, that might be the Adric talking.
1 year ago on Series 8: Meet Danny Pink
I doubt he'll be a companion. (Yet.)
I think Series 8 is definitely focusing on Clara and Twelve; if Pink becomes a companion, it won't be until Series 9 - if at at all. We have no reason to believe he will.
Anderson even refers to them as a "duo".
I love Six because of his unpredictability, really. You can never tell what he's going to do; or who he's going to be, given his intensely mercurial nature. He'll never do what you expect; but he'll always do good.
He's somewhat like Four in that regard - except Four spent a lot more time on his sillier qualities, while Six shifted the focus to the Doctor's alien mind.
Besides, I just love how boisterous and bombastic he is; he's like Falstaff, but he can actually back up his claims.
I'd like to see Twelve like that, perhaps; but I think he won't be. I'd peg him closer to Four. This is based solely on Capaldi's past roles, really, but I think Twelve will be cold, distant, dispassionate - the exact opposite of Six. I want him to be, in fact.
1 year ago on Twelve is Equal to Six?
I don't believe it, really.
I doubt Moffat would.

@Moxx I don't know - perhaps as a result of the later broadcast here in the States, it's always felt like an end-of-the-day thing to me.
1 year ago on Summer Broadcast for Doctor Who Series 8?
I love a Doctor with a bit of mercury in his veins. (As you can tell by my profile picture.)
I think they all do, but it's harder to tell with some - Two, for example, very rarely got to display his dark side. Five, for another, hid it all behind a stupid smile.
But underneath it all, they're all still aliens.
1 year ago on A forecast on Capaldi’s Doctor: The Frustrated Optimist
@Notsosmartguy It's a pity, because I always thought Eleven and K9 would be legendary together.
I've never listened to anything with Braxiatel, and he's already one of my favorite characters.
As to why the Doctor ran - I doubt, at this point, even he remembers.

True, Two and Three didn't recognize each other in Three, but it simply might not have been installed yet. As for Day, the Moment probably suppressed it.
This is the episode that made a fan.
Of course I love it.

The War Doctor was the best route.
I like Christopher Eccleston and I like his Doctor, so don't take this wrong when I say it - but not only does it make a better story of both "Name" and "Time", but John Hurt's brilliantly-acted War Doctor is better than Nine. He's better than most.
