@The Lazy Tiger Has Scared Off The Lazy Cat Back in August, Moffat said there'd be a betrayal in the finale. With that teaser and Clara not being welcomed by the TARDIS (which can see into the future), I guessed that Clara would betray the Doctor. Looks like that's actually what's going on now, too...

@Antee991166 Have to disagree about the CGI. The perspective is off in a few shots. Would have made sense to shoot Clara's scenes first, then match the angle of her scenes when filming Capaldi's, (shot through a little window rather than with just a camera), then combine the shots. Re-angling 2D video shot head-on does not have the same look. Don't know why they did it that way. It doesn't look bad, but it could have looked better.

@The Finn That, and Moffat's Radio Times teaser hinted that the Doctor will do something that causes Clara to... well, I won't spoil it for those who want to go in blind.

@Master Michael Moon Yes, and he pretty much disowned that incarnation. Even if he acknowledged that the War Doctor had his heart in the right place, he's always regretted his actions as a soldier.

@Miss Bosswald wants you to nuke the Moon. Not to mention that Series 8 has had the running question of whether or not the Doctor, 13 incarnations in, has changed too much.

Why does the BBC never use commas to separate clauses? There press releases are so often packed with grammatical errors. I don't understand why this is so persistent. Sorry, it's been annoying me for years.

Laws of time were broken when the TARDIS safety was turned off, crossing the Doctor's timeline and jumping a time-track to an earlier version of reality to a pre-Time-War Gallifrey. Just like what happened in "Time Crash" and the book "Prisoner of the Daleks".
1 month ago on Listen: Breaking the Time Lock?
@stargazer0118 Here's your explanation: Galllifrey was removed from all of time and space as a result of the Time War. In "The Sound of Drums," the Master said he couldn't find any sign of Gallifrey at all anywhere in the universe. Everything that happened on Gallifrey still happened, but in an earlier version of reality. Since the Time War, the events regarding the Time Lords and Daleks leading up to it are forbidden to time-travellers. It's the same reason the pre-Time War Daleks aren't in the universe anymore, as referenced when Captain Jack remarks that the Daleks suddenly couldn't be found by the Time Agents anywhere in time and space, and the Ninth Doctor explains this is because of the Time War. The Tenth Doctor book "Prisoner of the Daleks" does see the Tenth Doctor facing off against pre-Time War Daleks, but it's only because the TARDIS malfunctioned and jumped a time-track into the earlier version of reality. Two time-tracks also collided when the Doctor met his pre-Time War self in "Time Crash". He accidentally crossed his own timeline when he left the TARDIS safety systems offline and the universe was almost ripped apart as a result. The same thing happens in "Listen" when the TARDIS is driven to travel along the Doctor's personal timeline, jumping a time-track in to the earlier version of reality because the Doctor turned the safety off, and the results are potentially catastrophic as the Doctor indicated more than once in the episode.

@Sherlockian @stargazer0118 The War Doctor said "There's still a billion billion Daleks up there attacking!" when they were in the barn. And the War Doctor couldn't leave Gallifrey in the TARDIS because of the time-lock. It has to be Gallifrey.
@supermoff is playing Grand Theft Karabraxos... It'll be the first time we've has 4 consecutive episodes by the year's first-time Who writers since... "The Doctor Dances" - "The Parting of the Ways"

@Alice_Khromenko Because the TARDIS was at the end of the universe where, according to the Doctor earlier in the episode, it was not supposed to be. He had to turn the safety features off to even land there.
1 month, 1 week ago on Poll: Listen – Was there a Monster or not?
@MJJ That would be ridiculous. The Doctor can sense the presence of other Time Lords, and he saw that Clara was born to two humans.
1 month, 1 week ago on A Surprise Ending for Clara?
@Gustaff I think she's gonna betray the Doctor. Moffat teased a betrayal in the finale and also teased we'd find out why the TARDIS doesn't like Clara.
1 month, 2 weeks ago on A Surprise Ending for Clara?
@The Listening Cat I think the teased betrayal is Clara somehow betraying the Doctor, and that's what the TARDIS saw in her that it didn't like in Series 7.
@DawnTime Those are all too crazy. I'm thinking the betrayal teased in the finale is Clara betraying the Doctor and it being unclear if it will dissolve their friendship or not.
@'Cos Guess Who? Ha! It might just be a quirk written in for the Twelfth Doctor to make him unique and maybe take advantage of Peter's artistic talent every now and then.

@supermoff @Chris502 Saw it coming, partly. I knew the Doctor wasn't saving him. After his reaction to Kai's death, it's clear the Twelfth Doctor buries his emotions and doesn't let tragedy get in his way. I thought he'd given the soldier something to numb the oncoming pain, but the Doctor was actually not thinking about him at all...

@MeglosProductions I agree - It was CPR, not a kiss. Going by how relatively pointless the moment was and the random hearing-what-they-were-thinking, I guessed it was Moffat slipping a kiss in while technically making it not a kiss.

@The Genie Jenny, because she's the least useful and expendable (sorry, but that's often how things are), and by the Whispermen in "The Name of the Doctor." I thought she was actually killed off when she said, "I think I've been murdered." It was shocking. I felt a tad cheated when Jenny was literally brought back to life because a great death scene wasn't a death scene anymore. Either a more expendable character should have been killed in her place, or the line should have been, "I think I'm being murdered," so it doesn't sound like a done deal while keeping the stakes high.

@Gustaff I read the whole thing and learned some things I really didn't want to know. And this is coming from someone who read a little of each leaked script and saw clips of the leaked episodes. In my opinion, the ones you might not want to read are "Deep Breath," "Mummy on the Orient Express," "Flatline," and "Dark Water/Death in Heaven."

I wonder if Moffat's contributions are just him writing about Clara's normal life and relationship with Danny Pink. From filming and what the BBC released yesterday, we know every episode Moffat's co-written explores Danny and Clara's relationship to some extent.

@JoehWh0 I like this. Keep the bronze ones, but add variety. We could have Red Paradigm Drones bossing around the bronze ones, Blue Paradigm Strategists bossing around silver ones... I don't know. Whatever. Keep the bronze ones, though, but, by all means, they can add other ranks.
@Master Michael Moon Seriously. How dare people express enthusiasm for a show produced primarily in another country?! The nerve!

@gunslinger19 The producers and directors have the final say, but filmmaking is always a collaborative, poly-vocal process. Capaldi is completely within his purview to bring his own ideas about his character to the table. Matt Smith and David Tennant did the same thing.

@Huknar @Amy is Hannibal Vashta Nerada anywhere, really. A great monster many people want to see again.
3 months, 3 weeks ago on Are the Big Enemies Being Overused?
@Amy is Hannibal I'm gonna break up this reply with numbered points since this current comments system isn't very paragraph-friendly. 1) River does say she had some TARDIS-flying lessons from the Doctor in "The Pandorica Opens". 2) I also think "Bad Night" and "Good Night" have to go between "Day of the Moon" and "The Rebel Flesh" because Amy and Rory take no particular interest in River being right outside the TARDIS. 3) I think placing "Rain Gods" between "The Rings of Akhaten" and "Cold War" makes the most sense. The Doctor is definitely between visits with Clara between those two episodes. It really can't fit between "The Bells of Saint John" and "The Rings of Akhaten" because one episode leads directly into the next. The lack of waistcoat in "Rain Gods" means nothing, as the Doctor can vary his clothes as he likes, plus he went sans-waistcoat in "The Time of the Doctor". 3)I'd love Steven Moffat to give us a definitive River Song timeline that includes all of her appearances (except probably the intentionally ambiguous "Last Night" appearance).

I love the design of the River Song timeline! Shame about the small amount of errors :(
