It’s clear to see that over the last few months series eight has somewhat split opinions

Doctor who is always like that but I would have thought that it was less so with this Doctor. I feel he has taken the Doctor back to basic original style. Every now and then someone says "He Is Dark" Well I just think he has decided not to be a human in this incarnation and act more like a timelord. Also the humour is fantastic, I find that at the end of some episodes this season my cheeks are sore from grinning the whole way through. Love him

@ElyotWren I may have picked series 4 as it's so wonderfull until the end. I couldn't believe what had been done, For one of the best companions ever to lose everything she knew about her life with the Doctor was horrible. I honestly thought it was a fate worse then death :(

Something that would surprise us :)

So why, I ask, do these same people take selfies with the Cybermen when they emerge from St Paul’s?

They were undercover Unit operatives

Well I've watched it 4 times now and come away feeling different about it each time. The first half is a bit slow but the last half is absolutely riveting.  I must say that the scene when the Doctor trys to find Galifrey and it wasn't there is amazing. It was so terrifying seeing the Doctor with that intense face bashing his fists against the console, I have never seen do anything like that. Then there's that wonderful reunion where they both lie to each other successfully.

Clara: Why don’t you like hugging, Doctor?
The Doctor: Never trust a hug, it’s just a way to hide your face.
Clara: Yeah.

Overall even though the Cybermen were poorly utilised again, Osgoods death was just because Moff said "Why Not" and The Brig was shown as a Cyberman I still rate it quite high.

8/10

My favorite finale since season onemainly as there were no cringeworthy speeches from the Doctor :)

What he says is correct however the BBC would be more interesed in how it's faring against the opposition. If less people are watching Doctor Who when it airs and more are watching some reality show then they will consider ratings have dropped :)

Personally I don't care as long as it keeps going

I'm not sure about her, It seems like instead making the part her own she is emulating John Simm. I just don't find I can take an insane Master seriously, He/She is supposed to be the Doctors equal.

I have to agrree with most of what you say, It's seems that Moff was a too ambitious and tried to squeeze to much in here. For example Osgoods death scene was bordering on ridiculous. As others have said why is Missy left conscious(The Master secured by a pair of handcuffs only?), Why when she threatens Osgood did she not check her restraints? and above all those 2 guards behind make no move to stop her which is a real headshaking moment for me.

Cyber-programming being overcome by love was saccharine in “Closing Time,” but now it’s hackneyed, especially when the plot point is used twice in the same episode.

Don't forget that Cyberconversion has been defeated before and not just by love but also "Duty to Queen and Country" by the very ineresting Yvonne Hartman :)

I've been wondering about the Seb character and it just hit me that maybe he was like the Osgood character a fan of the Doctor but not just a fan maybe he represented us the internet fans. When the Doctor makes it to the Tardis Seb say's "Permission to squeeeeeeeeee" and Moffat pulverises him through Missy :)

I have a feeling that Missy's weapon may not pulverise people at all, It didn't really fit with the whole "Using the dead for a new race of cybermen" scenario.

In Planet of the Daleks she sneaks into a Dalek base and spys on them without getting caught, real edge of the seat stuff when your little :)

This episode gets 9/10 from me for making me go WHAT! and for that entire scene with Clara.

The Doctor: You betrayed me. You betrayed our trust, you betrayed our friendship, you betrayed everything that I've ever stood for. You let me down!
Clara: Then why are you helping me?
The Doctor: Why? Do you think that I care for you so little that betraying me would make a difference?
