@Amy is Hannibal  Yes, The irony of the fact that "everyone lives" at the end when they are standing in the middle of the blitz is very very good. It's my favorite Moffat story and also his first, I would say he had been thinking of this story for a long time:)

You are correct, Your idea of dark is very different from mine:)

If deaths are dark the classic series must have been black

I always get the feeling that Moffat dislikes fans, Some of the criticisms are pretty bizarre.

wittering on about calling him the Third or the Fourth Doctor – which is actually quite an unpleasant thing to do

I cannot for the life of me understand what's unpleasant about it

@EvolutionOfTheDoctor What's wrong with Tegan? She was a strong independant character who even though the Doctor wouldn't/couldn't return her to heathrow still bravely protected the Doctor at every opportunity. :)

I always thought the Tardis interior was created by the Tardis itself as a reflection of the Doctors personality and I think the 9th Doctors is the best looking. Having said that I wouldn't say no to any of them :)

Use of the Sonic to save the day is just lazy writing and should never be done. Personally I don't like the way he carries it around pointing it at everyone like it's a gun and sometimes he clutches at like a security blanket. It's also way too big. I remember the 4th Doctor udes it sparingly

When Liz passed, Apart from being overcome with more grief than I expected I felt sorrow for all of the young actors. It was an incredibly tragic way to lose your job. I would love for all of them to be included in a story but I can't imagine how they could explain the absence of Sarah without it being a bit disrespectful to the family. I sure however that Liz would have loved the idea

I thought the RTD theme tunes weren't too bad but every year it keeps deteriorating. Some of the soundtracks intrude too much and make certain scenes quite cheesy which is inline with the Classic series anyway I suppose. IMO nothing comes close to the early theme tunes from the 60's-70's, Some of them make my hair stand on end :)

Great article and I agree, I think longer stories would be fantastic. All those stories you mention are near the top of my list and really do represent what I feel Doctor Who was all about. I dislike that word "Blockbuster" I feel that it cheapens the show and it certainly doesn't allow for character development or even a decent resolution to that story.

@NeutronFlow  No offence taken mate. I thought he was the darkest because he actually participated in a war which seemed to be going for his entire generation. He has that little speech at the end of The Day of the Doctor

WAR DOCTOR: I won't remember this, will I?
DOCTOR: The time streams are out of sync. You can't retain it, no.
WAR DOCTOR: So I won't remember that I tried to save Gallifrey rather than burn it. I'll have to live with that. But for now, for this moment, I am the Doctor again. Thank you. Which one is mine? Ha!
(He goes into the shabbiest Tardis. It dematerialises.)

I never liked the stomping cybermen especially when one manages to sneek up on Mrs Moore and the Doctor. The delete, delete was demeaning to them and us and the thought of Daleks just grabbing the Doctor because they need his help was ridiculous and I don't want to think about a Dalek begging for mercy

I've always thought they have been overused but when I read your timeline of the Classics I'm amazed how uninventive the producers/writers have actually been. There are so many classic monsters to chose from and why can't they come up with new monsters that aren't immediately overused as well?
