@ Notsosmartguy the dalek of Jersey

He had very little respect for human life especially non-British, His fixation with saving the British Empire above ending the wars quickly etc.

The Doctor historically doesn't get along with people like that

@twoheartsonemind There was a lot of reasons I didn't like it, The paradigm Daleks, The Spitfires in space etc. but it was the portrayal of Churchill that annoyed me the most. It's just too hard to imagine the Doctor being  friends with Churchill .

Deep Breath all the way for me, 11th hour is great but the ending is too corny.

Actually after 4 watchings in less than a week Deep Breath has become my favorite of the last 8 years :)

@9101112 I remember feeling the same way when my favorite Doctor left but it didn't take long for me to move on and accept the newer Doctors one and all. Also the same as you regarding Clara, I feel I know her a bit better and understand her idiosyncrasies :)

"It's covered with lines, but I didn’t do the frowning. Who frowned me this face?" And he wonders, "Why this one? Why did I chose this face? It’s like I’m trying to tell myself something. Like I’m trying to make a point. But what’s so important that I can’t just tell myself what I'm thinking?"

This has to be one of my favorite lines from Doctor Who, Absolutely wonderful :)

Looking forward to it, Marks scripts can either be great fun or quite dire. Also his version of history can be silly bordering on ridiculous, Victory of the Daleks for example

@XanderH I'm from Australia and I don't struggle too much with the accent just the poor sound. The music and effects are so loud I miss quite a bit of the dialogue. The Americans will cope like the rest of us, They will probably have subtitles, I've even seen that with Australian movies :)

I always amazed at the percentage of the British population that watch Doctor Who, Over 10%

Compared to Australia about 4.4%

Canada 4%

US  0.8%

Well done :)

It's not the only time they have struggled with scale. I The Empty Child the bombers over London were flying at about 500ft instead 15000ft which I found a bit silly :)

Thanks for the lecture but no thanks. Kissing in Doctor Who shouldn't even happen, There's enough soapy dribble on TV without this show going down that path. I find the whole thing even becoming an issue quite strange as I haven't come across any homophobic comments yet

@Doctor What @Polyphase Yes and yes. It was much closer to the Classic style. The characters had more to sink their teeth into and Peter himself was amazing. I saw him say in an interview that "I know the Doctor" and I believe him.

I have to say that it's seems like Moffat has tried to address some complaints about Clara's character. Firstly she gets alot great scenes in this episode particularly when the Doctor traps her with the clockwork droids, Absolutely brilliant

"Hello, hello, rubbish robots from the dawn of time!"

"Five-foot-one and crying. You never stood a chance." — The Doctor

Also the restaurant scene where they argue about who put the ad in the paper is a classic piece of dialogue and the Doctor states she is the egomaniac, great stuff

"That sort of person would be an egomaniac, needy game-player." — The Doctor, about Clara

@Ivegotkidneys is in a Dalek Yes when he is trying to remember what seems familiar about the SS Mary Antoinette. There is also the lovely end when he says Coffee or Chips and he says he's got no money referencing my other favorite new Who Doctor. Interestingly Clara goes for coffee unlike Rose :)

I thought they were better in this than any other appearance. We actually got a bit more character background which to me adds a great deal to the fullness of the story. I could gone without the kissing as I think a martial arts expert could easily hold her breath.

"I never bother with sleeping. I just do standing-up cat naps."
"And when do you do that?"
"Generally, when everyone else is talking. I like to skip ahead to my bits." — The Doctor and Vastra

After watching it a second time it was pretty obvious to me that he committed suicide, Atleast that seem to be the Doctors intentions.

The scene with the Doctor offering a drink to the half face was very James Bond and there are so many great lines

"I could use it to blow this whole room if I see one thing I don't like, and that includes karaoke and mimes." — The Doctor

OK I watched it again last night and I enjoyed it even more. I was alone so could really turn up the TV and actually hear what was going on. Peter did an amazing job of making the role his own. His controlled lunacy was absolutely brilliant and the line delivery was almost perfect, I found myself giggling quite a bit which hasn't happened since Tom was in the Tardis.

Current affairs even got a mention in one particularly hilarious scene

"Look at these eyebrows! They're attack eyebrows. You could take bottle tops off with these. They’re cross. Crosser than the rest of my face. They’re independently cross! They probably want to cede from the rest of my face and set up their own independent state of eyebrows. I am Scottish, I’m Scottish!"

Fantastic and for the first time ever an episde of new Who gets 10/10

The ratings for Australia are pretty typical, It's just not that popular here. Going by this a lot of people don't watch the ABC at all and it annoys me that rubbish reality shows are more popular.

1. The Block Glasshouse (Nine) - 1.641 million

2. 60 Minutes (Nine) - 1.259 million

3. Nine News (Nine) - 1.255 million

4. Seven News (Seven) - 1.176 million

5. The X Factor (Seven) - 1.115 million

6. Sunday Night (Seven) - 888,000

7. ABC News (ABC1) - 834,000

8. Anzac Girls (ABC1) - 758,000

9. Doctor Who (ABC1) - 710,000

10. Castle (Seven) - 493,000

@thatscottishguy I would say he has to tone it down a bit for the American audience. I'm from Australia and although his accent didn't seem too strong I still couldn't understand a lot of it but I think most of that is because of the rubbish recording.

I wasn't a fan of the way he kept bringing Rory back to life, I suppose when you think about it he brings just about everyone back to life eventually. It's good that he see that there can be problems with that. Really does sound like a return to the Classic era when literally everyone dies
