@Amy is Hannibal The Amy and Rory thing is what bothers me the most. Moffat could have written in some lines where they ask The Doctor where he was during Miracle Day and explain it as being a fixed point in time. That or explain it as being erased by the cracks in time.

I don't know why he didn't mention it. He referenced Jack Harkness in Day of The Doctor and was planning on bringing him back in Series 6.

Capaldi should definitely be a Pertwee esque Doctor though. It's about time there was a Doctor who harkened back to Pertwee's take on the character. Since 2005, each Doctor has played the role like Tom Baker did.

There needs to be a change. Out with the boisterous personality and the silliness and in with a much more serious personality. The show should also reflect that by completely ditching the silliness and grow up some (and please don't give me that stupid Fourth Doctor quote). It should be like The X-Files meets Buffy and the spin-off Angel (Angel in terms of content) but Doctor Who style.

-The Seventh keeps too much information to himself and therefore can't really be trusted.

-The War Doctor and the Ninth Doctor are a bit scary.

-The Tenth is too melodramatic and obsessed with himself.

-The Eleventh seems like fun though but a tad bit dangerous. He seems to have a penchant for ending up in extremely dangerous scenarios compared to the rest of The Doctors. It's almost like he seeks out danger actively.

10/10. Tom McRae is a brilliant writer. Rise of the Cybermen was a classic and so is this. He certainly deserves every ounce of praise he gets. Also love the coat The Doctor wears in this story. Want one of my own.

I actually agree with this. I do love Strax but I'd jump at the chance to see a dark Sontaran story where Strax is forced to choose sides and is killed in a skirmish with his people. A story like that would give Strax a great exit. He's a funny character but I do think he's beginning to wear out his welcome.

1/10. Absolute drivel. Mark Gatiss is a brilliant t writer but how he wroe this pile of garbage is beyond me. His Sherlock episodes are so great and yet this was just awful. A schlock fest from start to finish.

I hope they don't come back. I'm sick of the Daleks and the Cybermen. Bring back the Autons or give the Ice Warriors another go. I know the nation Estate deal requires them to use the Daleks every year but they could just give them a cameo. If they are truly doing another Dalek story, they better let them kill some people. It's been far too long since they did.

6/10. Definitely not one of the better episodes of the season and definitely not one of Moffat's best at all.

I loved Eccleston's Doctor but it should have been McGann who did the series or even REG (Rochard E Grant) as the Ninth Doctor. At least he enjoys doing the show. Doctor Who is one of those series that if you sign up for, you'll be associated with for the rest of your life. All the other Doctors are fine with that.

Heck Pertwee loved it so much, he even did fan projects as The Doctor for free thirty years after he'd left the role. It's really a shame Eccleston won't be involved with the show as Series One was absolutely terrific in every way. I just can't help to wonder what it would be like if McGann had gotten the chance to play the role on TV again. As for my favorite episode of Series One, it's definitely the Unquiet Dead despite its terrible portrayal of Charles Dickens. In reality Dickens was a horrible man and certainly not the way he was portrayed.

@Moxx Well the Sisterhood of Karn could revive her. She is a different race from The Doctor so the effects would be different on her than him. He had to regenerate but maybe it won't have any adverse effects on her.

It's really a shame Cass had to die. She seemed like a really interesting character. Though I'm curious what race she is. She's not human and definitely not Gallifreyan. Anyways it seems like Emma is a lovely woman. Love that Sylvester McCoy calls her Doctor Killer.

@TheBritishCupOfTea @Lewis94.Sadly that couldn't happen with Who. As far as I know Doctor Who doesn't have the crew for that. Who doesn't actually have a second unit since the BBC won't give them the budget to hire one. If they could then filming wouldn't take ten months. It would probably take 3-4.

Definitely one of my least favorites. Saw this episode once and have yet to rewatch it. Writers on Who seem to have a big problem with historical and always feel the need to throw in aliens to the story. Should have been a straight historical instead of whatever it turned out to be.

@The MasterDoctor It was Fathom Events. I also would love to see these stories in theaters especially Enemy of the World. Sadly it's looking like it will never be released on DVD outside the UK so that would be my only chance to see it. I know it's on iTunes but I don't videos from them unless they were to become DRM free.

Completely agree. I didn't like Day of The Doctor either. I thought it was terrible and a pretty poor excuse for a 50th anniversary special. The War Doctor should have been the Eighth Doctor. It would have made for a much more interesting story. The Eighth Doctor started out as a man full of life. By the end of his life though he had become a shell of his former self and regenerated into a broken man.

@RichardWatson @DasManiacI'm fine with that. That's not what I meant. I wasn't aware that he didn't want to write TV anymore.

I would love Shearman to return. I understand that he didn't want to return during RTD's run due to differences between them but surely he must be willing to write a story for Moffat. He's a terrific writer and I really hope that if Moffat would want him back, could convince him to write another episode. It's rare to find a writer of Shearman's caliber. It's been almost nine years and we're still talking about Dalek. That says a lot about his writing ability.

Considering how little he had to work with he did a great job, especially on The Daleks.  I am truly amazed by the talent of a director who can actually make a story work with such little money, time, and space. The Daleks especially was one of the most well shot Doctor Who stories of all time.

@epicduda @DasManiacSadly the footage isn't on any of the DVDs as far as I know. I just remember I think Moffat saying in an interview that due to BBC America, they had the cut the episode down by 25 minutes. I remember him talking about what would have been in the episode if hadn't been cut. The Krafayis was a monster from stories The Doctor was told as a child on Gallifrey. Then also Vincent's illness would have been explored in much more detail. Don't know why the original cut wasn't at least aired in the UK though.

A masterpiece. Everything Doctor Who should be. It's a shame though that I can't give it anything higher than 6/10 for it's butchered Television Cut. If they'd simply release the original cut that was 25 minutes longer and expanded on several things in the story like Vincent's illness and the monster then It'd be 10/10.

4/10. I can understand taking inspiration from 1970's The Silurians but Chibnall seemed just to do nothing but retread that story. It's really quite a shame to see the Silurians not treated with the respect they deserve as one of Who's coolest species. I'd say this was even worse than Warriors of the Deep (and I like WOTD).

I totally thought there was going to be more to this article. Surprised you didn't mention the scene in The Five Doctors where The First Doctor asks which regeneration he (his future self that is) is on. Then there's also a Big Finish story I don't know the name of where the Seventh Doctor indicates he has knowledge of his future incarnations buried deep in his mind.

@Fez_Wearing_Dalek Would love to have him do Big Finish. Since Dark Eyes 2 is leading into the Time War, hopefully they can actually do the war. I'm sure it'd be good since nobody can really write the Daleks better than Nick Briggs can. Besides The War Doctor could return since he appeared in IDW's 50th comic with all the other Doctors.

3/10. It's definitely better than the previous episode but that's not saying much. Like with the Silurian episode, it's a lazy rehash of a classic. Gatiss is a great writer but clearly the Daleks are not his thing.
