@sontaran17 @Gustaff Thankfully I had Agents, Forever, Castle and Scorpion to fall back on.

For me though it was so bad, it's meh. It's not worse than most other sitcoms out there I suppose, but I wouldn't go out of my way to watch it again. It's good, but more in the view that if I happen to need to watch something while I'm eating or there's nothing on TV except Selfie, then I'd watch it.

Beautiful look-back article on the Ponds BTW. I was out so I only read it once the buzz died down.

I actually read this one. Loved the bit where the Doctor acknowledges that for unknown reasons, his current incarnation abhors soldiers. Makes the whole anti-soldier thing people are going on about nicely link up with the television series.

Personally though, I see it as a character flaw that will get straightened out the further we travel with the 12th Doctor.

Score for the book is same as yours, but I will add that Big Finish already did the whole 'Doctor inmate' thing in the 2010 story Doing Time. Though the Blood Cell is notably more entertaining.

Sad to report that Karen Gillan's new show 'Selfie' is bad. Despite being a 'sitcom', it feels more like a drama, but every scene feels like the people writing the show have no idea what they want. The protagonist is extremely stereotyped. There are like three jokes funny enough to force a laugh, but the constant pop culture references and social media jokes just killed it for me. At least when Psych did it, it was funny.

I can't see Karen's new show going beyond one season.

It's just a bit inconsistent considering they have portrayed him as hyper observant before (Deep Breath). If he's not as good as 11, then have him find the villain some other way and make it part of his persona.

I find it so unrealistic that the man who could spot the villain just from which was the person was going fails to see a 90% resemblance. Major issue.

If we're ranking the companions' companions, its still:

1) Rory "Chuck Norris" Williams

3) Mickey "The Idiot" Smith

I was in Danny's side until he mocked the Doctor just to spite him. Great conflict resolution Danny. Way to take the high road. I'm back to the Doctor's side after you proved that you're just as childish and immature as him. Difference: He fought a war for 900 years plus another 800 years. How long did you fight?

As for Clara, twice in as many weeks I have no issues with her. More real than before. Although I am wondering how Danny still goes out with her after she showed that foreknowledge of his identity. Obviously my brain works differently than Dany's, but if that happened to me, I'd be more than a little 1) freaked out, 2) suspicious and 3) insistent on an explanation before making out with her back at my place. But that's just me. 7.7/10 for me

@EternalDoctor @Gustaff @TARDlSkey I know what you mean. I'm not fond of Numb3ers or TBBT, but Scorpion does have an origin story which creates a lot of tension between the two leads which just drew my attention and kept it there.

I know what you mean about how much stuff is on these last few months. I have: Agents of SHIELD, Doctor Who, Castle, Scorpion, Forever, Elementary, Constantine (iffy about this one), The Flash, Arrow, Legend of Korra, Gotham, A Certain Magical Index, Fairy Tail and Atlantis.

What you looking forward to?

Also, any idea when Atlantis starts up again? It's only a 6.7/10 overall, but I hate having to catch up.

@Calebxy Five. Multiple incarnations describe Five as the nicest to the point of actually being annoying. I know Six, Seven and even Eight found him irritatingly nice.

I agree, not about the irritatingly nice bit, but he is the nicest of the Doctors in my opinion.

Think Numb3rs meets The Big Bang Theory and then watch the space. Will be up shortly.

Staking the three, it goes:

Gotham: 9/10

Forever: 7.5/10

Scorpion: 7.5/10

Curious, any idea when it airs in your region?

Actually, when they round to getting the license, I need Big Finish to do the otter story. 4 parter. First episode the break up, in the second episode the Doctor discovers a conglomeration of otters whose teeth can soothe heartache. He stays with them for a month and learns their mystical otter ways.

In episode three we introduce the villain, Jim the Fish returns to enact revenge on the Doctor for ruining his dam. Episode four features his defeat and the make up of River and the Doctor.

@RUAZ I love how that's now like an unwritten thing: Pulling an Eccelston.

DOCTOR WHO TERMS:

Pulling an Eccelston: (v) an act by which an actor decides to prematurely leave the titular role of Doctor Who and disappoint millions of admirers. Destined to catch hate for the decision. e.g "Capaldi is totally pulling an Eccelston at the end of Series 8"

@Clara Laurinda @Mark McCullough It's true only in his mind. For the rest of us, the 11th Doctor died of old age.

Though my headcanon says he died because of the new regeneration cycle being given to him. A time lord's body can only store 13 packets, so when he got a new set, he had to regenerate to make the transition.

The thing with the same set being used over and over again, I agree. It's used again with the vent shafts, but also humorously lamp-shaded by the production team. They used it so many times, but nearly all the vents have 'No entry under any circumstances' written above it. They were aware of it...even joking to the audience about it.

Great read guys

@TheDreamer I think the big flaw of this episode (which isn't for me) is that people still don't understand the 'why break into a bank when it's already broken into' part. The Doctor needed to complete the paradox from his end.

Plus the bit with the storm was obviously a Back to the Future reference!

@supermoff is your new lodger- I mean, caretaker. The Doctor being the Architect I knew from his first scene. Hood and changed voice! Even if he switched to a weird American accent, it was obvious. Karabraxos being the same person I didn't see coming. Although I probably should've considering her gender I believe is made reference to before her reveal.

1 week, 1 day ago on Time Heist Review

Reply

@RUAZ @Battlion The Doctor guilted Karabraxos into phoning him and he could only do that by completing the loop. This isn't a case of a past Doctor falling into a future Doctor's schemes, but a past Doctor leaving clues for his future self.

As for detecting him the first time, either the Teller was in hibernation or he did detect the Doctor, but there wasn't enough time to react. Though if that were the case, I think we wouldve had a comment about an 'intruder'.

As for why the Teller didn't detect Psi and Saibre, the fact that the guards leading it need to wear full body suits imply that the suits are resistant to the Teller's powers. Again, a comment would've made it much clearer.

I'm not very excited about The Caretaker. The whole Clara coping with two lives doesn't make much sense. How can you be exhausted when you have a time machine?

Here's a thought: Sleep on the TARDIS after an adventure and then return to your old life so you don't get tired. It's not that difficult and nothing to whine over either. Bonus points because the solution to the balancing two lives is so easy. Normally when this comes up in fiction, it's a problem because there isn't enough time for both, but with a time machine, you do have more than enough!

I think it's a useless side-plot to humanize Clara, but because she never struggles at anything, the writers have to invent a pathetic reason to have her struggle. Like Amy and Rory's divorce. Serves no plot purpose.

Speaking of which, they never seem to have that problem in Series 7. Want to know why: Because they sleep on the TARDIS. They are clever! They balanced their lives fine and decided to just pick one, not because they had to, but because they grew up and realized that the reason they started doing it isn't the same as the reason they are still doing it.
