@Captain Administrator yes, but Doctor Who has established countless times before that it relies on the Like Reality Unless Noted meaning that while some of the fantastical elements may be allowed (fiction), it may bend things from time to time, but should still follow it's own internal consistency. The DW world works like our world, unless noted.

@stargazer0118 I think what we should take away from this article is: Fire the Scientific Consultants on Doctor Who. They are clearly useless.
@SonicTheHedgehogRules @Gustaff @The Finn, Agent of SPECTRE @ilyootha, agent of C.L.A.R.A. ah. OK. I just thought of SU when he gets booted from Robotic's ship and fell back to earth.
@yoshfiction I love the bit where the Doctor basically called us humans morons, implying we'd forget something like the Forest taking over Earth.
Just what is his opinion of us anyway? Through the freaking floor I think.
@SonicTheHedgehogRules @The Finn, Agent of SPECTRE @ilyootha, agent of C.L.A.R.A. was that a Sonic Unleashed reference?
@supermoff @Gustaff @Antee991166 agreed.
@supermoff @Gustaff @Antee991166 Narm is a moment that is supposed to be serious, but due to either over-sappiness, poor execution, excessive melodrama, the sheer absurdity of the situation, poor grammar or spelling, the drama is lost to the point of surpassing "cheesy" and becoming unintentionally funny.
@Antee991166 @The Finn, Agent of SPECTRE and the world just listened to a podcast made by a bunch of children...give me a break (and a slice of reality)
@supermoff @Antee991166 complete and utter NARM!
Scientifitically accurate huh?
Taken from TV Tropes as I don't want to write them all out again (I helped add some of them in the first place):
1) Solar flares are electromagnetic radiation, not fire. This
means they do not require oxygen to produce heat (otherwise, how would
they survive the journey through space?). The Fireproof trees depicted
in the episode would be useless against radiation.
2) The atmosphere is not what shields the Earth from flares, but the magnetosphere which is generated by the Earth's iron core.
3) No attempt is made to explain where the trees got all the biomass they needed to cover the Earth, or how they managed to cover the oceans.
4) Basic chemistry tells us that even if photosynthesis swapped out every CO2 molecule in the atmosphere for oxygen, levels of O2 would only increase very slightly, as carbon dioxide makes up only a small fraction of a percentage of Earth's air.
5) Enriching the atmosphere with oxygen is the last
thing anyone should do to prevent a fire. Removing oxygen would be much
more efficient (but of course, that way all animal life would choke
instead of burn to death).
If you'd set this episode on an alien world with an alien, unusual atmosphere completely opposite and bizarro to Earth, then this episode would've worked just fine. No complaints. If Earth science doesn't work within your story, just invent a world on which it does. Simple as that.

@The Lazy Cat @Gustaff @supermoff I think the only ones I dislike are the Silurian 2-parter, but that's mostly because of Elliot's mum.
3 days, 15 hours ago on No Series 9 Story for Neil Gaiman
@The Lazy Cat @supermoff Hour, Angel 2-parter, Vampires, Amy's Choice, Lodger, Vincent and Pandorica 2-parter.
@Huknar @Gustaff @VictorWong1 Besides Toby is such a marvel to watch, regardless of the role. He needs to come back, this time wearing a cardigan.
@Huknar @Gustaff @VictorWong1 I mean you don't 'even' have to think about it that hard in order to make the story work. It could even be a Noodle Incident that gets the ball rolling.
@Huknar @The Lazy Cat I like the Cybermen in this, but the Maitlands killed it for me. Gaiman said 'annoying bratty children' was his aim, congrats, you succeeded and helped ruined a story that had a lot of potential.
Why create an annoying character? They're still annoying even if you successfully accomplish your goal.
@Huknar @Gustaff @VictorWong1 not even. Invent a scenario where the Doctor's Dream Lord aspect separates from him and finds a way to achieve corporeal form. In this state, he has the power to make dreams manifest in the real world.
Think of the possibilities.
@VictorWong1 I'd like Simon Nye to pen another story. Dream Lord was awesome. We need a sequel.
Yeah! We want to know what happened to Gus.
No, we need NEED to know what happened to Gus.
We need a tiebreaker from him. One loved by fandom and one despised.
Come on Neil!
@Notsosmartguy @Gustaff @Calebxy @yoshfiction you want to talk villain, I'll take psycho over bonkers any day. Probably the saddest X-Mas episode ever. So much for the holidays.

@TheOncomingHurricane @Gustaff yes. I don't understand the need to put the line in. He seemed pretty sure of himselves in the climax. That's why it felt weird to me. Then I forgot about it because TOM BAKER showed up.
The magic of fanservice and nostalgia combined.
@The Watchful Guardian oh, no I checked my emails this morning. Nothing there, but I just wondered since feature articles is open.
@AlessandroArsuffi @Gustaff well I'd like them to end Jack's Time Agency storyline.
@TheOncomingHurricane @Gustaff The Doctor did not destroy Gallifrey, so logically if it's not destroyed, it's okay. It's lost, but not destroyed. I don't understand why they made him think he 'might have destroyed it'. The resolution seemed pretty solid to me.
@The Watchful Guardian um, where is WD on this new decor anyway?
@Notsosmartguy @yoshfiction @Gustaff @YaelMoise @Calebxy DWTV is the only Doctor Who site I visit. Imagine 'Don't Mess With The Zohan' scissor in knee. My loyalty there.
@YaelMoise @Gustaff @Huknar I cry during Last Night. Always.
@Last christmas I gave you my kidneys... @YaelMoise @Gustaff @The Watchful Guardian i see what you did there. That is memory my friend.
@Notsosmartguy @Calebxy @Gustaff @yoshfiction Man in Yellow Suit got my blood pumping. All the way. I haven't felt like that since Day of the Doctor!
@YaelMoise @Gustaff @The Watchful Guardian that's dark, but surprisingly close to the truth I imagine
@Huknar I always thought Last Night was that adventure.
@YaelMoise @Gustaff @The Watchful Guardian wow, it sounds like you've thought this thing through.
@Huknar @Gustaff @The Watchful Guardian no. Because I'll name what I dislike, then a bunch of fans (not you) are going to attack (disguised as trying to help convince) me that it's not true.
Fight fight fight. I lose my temper. They lose theirs. Pretty soon it'll start an argument which won't go anywhere and some of us will leave this forum in a bad mood.
Let's just leave it at I have a few disliked that alienate the character from me.
@The Watchful Guardian the whole budget is probably going into his bank account. Only way we'll get Chris to don the leather jacket.
@Huknar @Gustaff @The Watchful Guardian Actually, I started off liking her in Series 7 until I started to notice a couple of things that turned me off. Could never 'unsee' them and it's gotten worse I'm afraid. I usually always find something to connect to with every companion - even Adam!
@Notsosmartguy @Gustaff @The Lazy Cat the problem comes in when it goes on for so long that you just don't care about coming back. That's the real danger.
People seem to forget, it's much each to break something than it is to build it. Much easier not to care than it is to give a damn.
@Huknar @Gustaff @The Watchful Guardian me? I hate the character so much the current terms to describe them have been deemed 'understatement' by the Oxford dictionary.
@The Watchful Guardian You just spoke the holy words my friend.
Can you hear the angels? They're singing to you!
@Notsosmartguy after that Arrow episode, I imagine both their characters will get a lot more to do.
@The Lazy Cat I just accept that in some era, something comes along that you just hate. You can't please everyone all the time and I'm really upset that it's my turn to watch the show to 'see if things change'. I imagine a lot of fans have an era like that.
@YaelMoise @Gustaff @yoshfiction @Calebxy Sorry, Mummy and Time Heist. THOSE TWO are my favorites. Don't ask me to pick one over the other.
@Notsosmartguy @Gustaff @yoshfiction @YaelMoise @Calebxy It's the only episode Clara didn't grate my nerves. She was normal for once, which must have felt so weird for her.
@The Watchful Guardian If I could remove ever Clara scene in Deep Breath, it would be a 9/10 easy. But I can't so...
@yoshfiction @YaelMoise @Calebxy @Gustaff Don't forget the magical 'Forest'. You should turn your brain off for that one.
Time Heist was my favorite. It was normal, fun and adventurous.
@yoshfiction @Mark McCullough he unknowingly opposes the basic premise of Doctor Who which is that 'all of space and time, every moment that has ever been or will come around, where do you want to go'.
He's like: I'll stay home and call my girlfriend out for wanting to see the universe.
That's how he comes across to me.
@YaelMoise @Calebxy @yoshfiction @Gustaff I've recently disagreed with some of his decisions. This coming from someone who is generally ridiculously easy to please. They just don't seem to improving. In fact, it feels like it's tailspinning in the opposite direction.
@Calebxy @Gustaff @yoshfiction lol you do realize you can't put 'current' and 'of all time' in the same sentence.
@yoshfiction @Calebxy @Gustaff in the immortal words of Tegan Jovanka's aunt Vanessa: If it stops being fun, give it up.
@Calebxy @yoshfiction @Gustaff it's rough. I am grateful for audio and other shows (Flash/Arrow etc). I'll still watch the show, but it's been replaced as my fav.
@yoshfiction @Gustaff I'm sorry to hear that. I can probably guess which parts did that to you.
