@Mark McCullough Not to hardcore fans, but the casual fans will probably go 'so, she's died before hasn't she?'.
I know because my sister tuned in for Snowmen after seeing Asylum and said that to me. She doesn't like DW and only caught it by accident. But I imagine her reaction is a good general one for non-hardcore fans.

@Mark McCullough Death is Cheap when it comes to Clara. Nothing fitting unless you want a Book Ends ending for her. She's died twice onscreen and x times off.

@The Watchful Guardian @doctorwhotvuk Technically Peter was the first Doctor I saw but it was a Time-Flight trailer on youtube and I didn't know about DW. Chris was the first Doctor I watched, but I found TEOFW so bad I changed the channel. Tooth and Claw was the next episode I saw and it got me hooked. Time-Flight has also imprinted itself on me like a mother chicken regardless of what anyone else says about the story.

@doctorwhotvuk I missed the poll "event" last night, but I did notice THE BIG RED WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS explaining the purpose of the poll. When will people get it right: There is no such thing as a bad Doctor. All the actors that play him are cream of the crop. It's like the equivalent of winning the lead in a dozen different major films.

Bit disappointed we didn't get any new Who content today on it's anniversary except for a couple of brilliant articles by the residents of DWTV. Kudos to you lot!

I keep hoping that Moffat will do something special today like release a Christmas trailer or a minisode or something. Feels kinda empty just saying it's DW's birthday. It's not an even number I grant you, but it's still worth celebrating.

Happy birthday you ridiculously awesome show.
Maybe Steven will give us a minisode as a gift today.

@The Genie I don't normally like Rose for her Anti-Sue persona, but I love that
Father's Day really showed us the 'If I could go back in time' flaw that
companions often have. The fact that the Doctor doesn't immediately
forgive her like he does with Clara feels more real. She is convinced
she's right until she's proven wrong and brought down even further when
innocents pay the price for her mistake. The Doctor is mad. That's
normal. I'd feel violated too if someone used me or my possessions to
commit crime or further their own causes. The fact that they show him as
someone who doesn't just go 'you made a mistake, all good' is awesome.

I understand why the 'minority' considering a change on this show doesn't get a weekly article as much as the controversial moves this season has pulled gets. It's not a case of prejudice, it's just nobody wants to write one because they are afraid of being attacked by the majority and boy can the majority attack. Rereading the comments on John's article, I will now implement a rule that if I find myself in the minority regarding anything whether it be Clara or Missy or funky Cybermen or whatever divides the fandom the week, I WILL NOT WRITE A WORD. I will take on the policy of a Time Lord and simply observe. I'll keep my mouth shut because in the past a single comment planned turns into a bitter war trying to survive whatever nation I've 'insulted'.
Bonus points: Whenever I do manage to make a valid point, my arguer just seems to die in front of his PC from shock or something as they never reply back.
It was annoying seeing it happen to other people, but it is especially grating having it happen to me. Probably why I spend minimal time in the comment sections these days. I've noticed through my feed that my comments over the last couple of weeks have severely diminished in number. A reflection of my subconscious desire not to come into conflict perhaps? It's really quite remarkable how I didn't notice it consciously until this morning.

@supermoff @The Lazy Cat's Soufflé Was too Beautiful to Live I think Jones came first. Not sure to be honest
4 days, 2 hours ago on Unpopular Opinion: Missy the Master
@supermoff @Gustaff No. I have just seen every incarnation of the Master in almost every one of his stories so I have a pretty good grasp of the character. Missy's plan was just plain stupid for a Master plan.
1) Rule the universe
2) Kill the Doctor
3) Extend his life whenever
1) Raise an army for the Doctor
2) Be friends with the Doctor
3) Kill people for no good reason.
@supermoff @Gustaff "Bring him down to her level". That implies the Master believes himself inferior somehow. Another un-Master trait. He believes he is the best in the universe. The Doctor is "almost" his equal.
@NotsoSmartguy @Gustaff @supermoff What's the point? They both already know that.
@supermoff She missed the main characteristic which is 'becoming Master of all'. For the first time in history the Master manages to create the perfect army and then...hands them over to the Doctor.
That is not the Master in any incarnation I'm afraid. The Master want to rule everything and kill the Doctor. Handing over your best army is just pathetic I think.
Great article John. You have some brace ones on you for writing this. I agree with every word, but you are going to see some serious backlash.
After listening to DE3 and to Alex MacQueen in the role I agree that you don't have the swap genders to make a character more interesting. You can find new storylines to explore without it. I'm not knocking the acting props though. Seriously, the only bad acting I've seen on this show is the Maitland kids so I don't really see 'bad' acting from the people on this show. When people talk about the right or wrong casting I have no idea what they're on about. This show doesn't hire bad actors and I don't notice it (except for the Maitlands) 99% of the time.
Also, there are a bunch of shows I like that use gender swap as part of the storyline that make it work:
Ramna - As a result of an accident during a training journey, protagonist is cursed to
become a girl when splashed with cold water, while hot water changes him
back into a boy. Hilarity ensues.
Avatar - Protagonists are reincarnated, often as different genders.
.Hack//Sign - Female protagonist unknowingly cross plays as a male game character.
Writing the last part of DE3 review. So much I want to say, so much I can't spoil. It's awful.

@DoustAlex I believe it isn't. And the cut is still in the episode. The sheriff is still human. No robot beheading.

@ilyootha @Gustaff I'll try to tease as much as I can without giving the game away.
@troughton who? @Gustaff @ilyootha he's scary eh?
@The Genie @Gustaff I am doing electro shock therapy to try and get rid of that image.
Also, maybe it's easy to just say this Master is an alternative version from a different universe or so mentally plastered that all sense of reason or being is gone.
I don't think it's a drag act. S(he) even referred to him as her boyfriend while the Doctor wasn't within earshot. No reason to keep the act if your audience isn't watching.
@The Genie @Gustaff That's just how my head is screwed on. I find the kiss disturbing enough, but the Master wasn't really evil. In her/his own twisted way he was trying to be kind which is not the Master.
Also, by soul I meant whatever drives us: brains, personality, soul whatever goes to heaven after we die.
@Deceiving Whovians & Torturing them Vigorously Are you trolling right now? I can never tell.
5 days, 4 hours ago on Face-Off: The Masters (Classic Era)
@ilyootha @Gustaff I'm sad to hear that. I'm reviewing it soon. Maybe get someone to buy it for you for Christmas?
@The Genie @Gustaff Personal headcanon: The body is female, the soul is male. It's 'his' boyfriend.
Unless of course you were mimicking Robert's habit of correct people. In that case: funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Lord Styro the Drashig Mostly because of the Etheric Beam locators joke. Can't believe we didn't get that in the series 8 finale. So funny.
@The Genie @Gustaff Agreed. You're only as good as the blocks you're given to work with. I think Roberts realized that camp was the only way to go with that script. He's still fairly down my list of Masters, but he still isn't the Master that tried to 'raise an army for his boyfriend' so he's not completely last.
@The Genie @Gustaff I noticed, but I was being honest with my point. Camp sorta worked for the Roberts Master. It's far from perfect but Paul hammed it up too in that movie.
@The Finn @The Genie @Gustaff And corrects your grammer and syntax!
@The Genie @Gustaff I don't hate him, all Time Lords have mid-life crisis and Roberts plays up the ham and camp well. I like it. Plus he actually goes for the brutal violent approach when talking doesn't work. All the other Masters seem to just take defeat.
@The Finn True, I love his encounters with Five and his team. Keeper, Logopolis and Castrovalva is a fantastic trio and great set of succeeding stories.
@The Genie You serious David? Is Roberts the best Classic Master or did you vote for Pratt?
@ilyootha @Gustaff I am so excited for you. You haven't heard DE3 yet. You are in for such a treat. Let me know when you finish it and we'll have this discussion again.
@ilyootha After DE3, Alex set the Master bar ridiculously high. For me, it's almost criminally insane to even want to compare any of the others to him. Beevers might have a chance in second place, but it's still not on MacQueen's level. Heck, it's not even on the level below MacQueen.
Delgado – The Suit
Pratt – The Corpse
Beevers – The Voice
Ainley – The Beard
Tipple – The Flash
Roberts – The Ham
MacQueen – The Other
Jacobi – The Professor
– The Psycho
I know the Gomez Master will probably win due to 'last episode syndrome'. Also a shame it's only 'on screen' since Alex MacQueen is the very best incarnation of this sociopathic Time Lord in my book. If UNIT Dominion didn't prove that, Dark Eyes 3 surely did.
Beevers! He IS the Master and I obey him.
He also has the best Master Story in any Doctor who medium: Master
