I actually find Sky Smith cringe worthy.
Dislike: Sky, George, Cyril, Lily, Chloe, Angie, Artie and Courtney.
Like: Amelia, Kazran, Merry Gejelh, kid-Danny
Also let's not forget kid-Nyssa and kid-Tegan from Mawdryn Undead. Those two were flatter than a sheet of paper.

They're not always bad, but when they are, it can be more deadly to a story than a bullet, especially since we only get 14 episodes of DW a year.
I remember Emily Hirst giving the absolute best child actor performance in The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. Her portrayal in that film was one of the most spectacular and heartwarming performances that I have ever observed. I cried BUCKETS and she was only 15!
11 hours, 26 minutes ago on Won’t Somebody Think of the Children!?
@The Finn @Gustaff @sontaran17 Nah, the telepathic circuits weren't really referenced at all during the Classic Era save maybe two or three. I'm also having trouble remembering the story if it was explained.
One of the oddest examples of translating had the Doctor land on a planet where the population communicated via smell of all things. The TARDIS had no trouble translating that both ways.
As far as I know, the only things in our universe the TARDIS doesn't translate is Gallifreyan since that would be redundant.
16 hours, 29 minutes ago on Conversation @ http://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/discusswho/062014/
@The Finn @sontaran17 I believe the line is "You taught me!" Doubles as fridge brilliance since she was talking to the TARDIS there, but it sounded like she was talking to him at the same time. If she had went "But Doctor, you taught me", then I might be inclined to see it as an inconsistency.
The reason some example why Beast's language wasn't translated was because it
pre-dated the known universe. Anything from this universe can be
translated by it.
But the Doctor said that no one has ever translated the writing on the cliff face. Just because nobody has ever succeeded does not equate that it is untranslatable. I doubt anyone has ever attempted to land a TARDIS in it's vicinity.
Also, keep in mind that Flatline had the Doctor saying that the TARDIS can translate anything in our universe. Again, the Beast's text for example predates our universe = not part of it.

@supermoff, agent of C.L.A.R.A. They used that already for Into the Dalek. They are only allowed one line like that per season. My predictions:
S09E07 = greatest challenge
S09E13 = most dangerous place in the universe

@doctorwhotvuk I believe them. You are obviously one of those people that will not watch the episode even thought you got it before anyone else and just make stuff up instead. You are pointlessly cruel that way.
Some people are idiots I swear. I mean seriously! Who thinks a site of this magnitude reviews something based on a 20sec promo?
Perhaps you need to consider making the who site invite only. Just imagine the braincells we could save. Or how about you make a special post explaining that:
1) You do actually watch the episode (multiple times from what I read) before you review something and
2) You do not run DW
People seem to get those two very mixed up. Maybe add a thumbnail picture of a character with egg on their face or a very stupid expression - you know, just to help get the point across.
Also, dont breathe, dont touch the walls, avoid shadow, dont look under the bed...etc
1 day, 14 hours ago on Neil Gaiman on Hopes for Capaldi Episode
One of my all time favs. I have an obsession with that story. It's fantastic. I'd even put it as the best Sontaran story in DW history.
Without angie or artie, I'd bump it up to a 9/10
Raynor is the only new who writer that have written the Sontarans effectively. Everyone else has robbed them of their clonehood.
I'm fairly certain that this was the worst Sontaran impression I have ever heard which is a shame as it is coming from the Dan Starkey himself.

@Djornad @Gustaff No. Haven't played telltale. Honestly though, I want the Japanese to make the next DW game. English writers, Japanese makers, American budget. That's what I'm holding out for.
2 days, 15 hours ago on Conversation @ http://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/discusswho/062014/
Just heard from a buddy in the UK. The Doctor and the Dalek = dud
Seems I was right. Just some random dialogue from Peter Capaldi with no real story. On the gameplay, the guy told me that it was 'indeed made for CBBC' as it is ridiculously easy to solve and just reeks of education.
That doesn't surprise me as it was what the game was designed for, but I also get that there are quite a few games that hide their 'education' within the game to make learning unnoticeable. TDATD unfortunately is not like that it seems.
I get this is a family program, but there are also quite a lot of mature viewers. How about making something worthwhile for the WHOLE family and not just the under 13s? I really don't mind spending money to buy the game so you don't have to make a cheap freely available one. I'll settle for an expensive good one also. Out of the two games I was looking forward to (the other being Legend of Korra), both turned into a letdown. In Korra's case, I lost money since I had to buy it and it was just the endless runner mini-game that was good.
This is why I stick to Final Fantasy. Takes a hell of a long time to make, burns a hole in your wallet, but they make 'em good! They make 'em great!

@MrRazza is regenerating @Gustaff Those people have some great PR departments. Even the Doctor was
scared. If I was him, I'd let the thing roam free. Not as though it can
kill a planet full of moving people. Maybe if they all stopped, he'd
have a shot. If anything, Blitz should go into demolition.
3 days, 17 hours ago on 2nd Opinion: Flatline
@Mikeyboss182 He met that soldier guy in Mummy and didn't seem to mind.
Speaking of the Blitz monster from Caretaker...anyone else wonder how a robot described as the most dangerous killing machine ever created only managed to hit one target all episode - and that target was STANDING STILL!
@sontaran17 @Gustaff I have read the book. But given the choice of Briggs or Hurt, the answer will always be Hurt. I don't think we're ever going to get any more with him as the Time War incarnate.
3 days, 18 hours ago on Conversation @ http://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/discusswho/062014/
Well, I am partly devestated and I'm afraid that it is now up to me to partly devestate you lot:
John Hurt will not be voicing the War Doctor in the BBC audio adaption of Engines of War. Scheduled for Dec 18 2014, the novel will be read by Nicolas Briggs.
I'm pretty sure we all wanted Nick + John to read/act out the story since now we'll only get Dalek voices, but no War Incarnation voice. I feel like a fish that's just been gutted. It was a long shot obviously, but still when one hopes this much, hurts like hell (pun intended).

@doctorwhotvuk Well, apart from the obvious that this site does not run DW, the man makes a good point. I can't see any companion living up to that bar set, nor do I want to as I've seen with Clara - doesn't work for me.
Though others will claim 'I will never compare the two', most will end up saying 'yeah, but Clara did more than [insert future companion]' and will judge the new person because the shadow cast is just too enormous to live up to. There have been lots of brilliant companions who did nothing *important* for the Doctor and ended up being fan favorites. I want one of those types to be the next person in the TARDIS.
@doctorwhotvuk So one episode splitting fans wasn't enough, they had to go for two?
Does Danny at least confront Clara about her lying? How about the Doctor? Do he and Clara have a standoff about her lying about Danny to him? You know - the stuff that usually end realistic relationships or are all these things handled off-screen...again?

4 days, 19 hours ago on The Doctor and the Dalek
The Doctor teaming up with a Dalek? Not sure how good that is going to be.
I do hope that this game features a lot of dialogue that progresses the story and isn't just one of those games with a brill VA attached, yet you have to read most of the story and they have like four lines. The Adventure Games balanced gameplay with storytelling nicely.
Along with Legend of Korra video game, this is going to be just as much fun to play I hope.
@TARDlSkey @Gustaff @LGwalchmai95 Well, we know Moffat is staying for S9, so maybe bring Mathieson back for 2 (no 3 more episodes) next year and then hand over the keys to the TARDIS. Nice little transition, though I don;t want to see Moffat go.

Now we approach the Dark Horse of Series 8: In The Forest of The Night.
Penning Mummy and Flatline back to back has really raised the bar for an episode that was already fighting just to get fan respect. Majority don't like the whole 'kid' episode idea so ITFOTN will have to pull a miracle to beat it's immediate two predecessors.

@Scribey @Gustaff @stargazer0118 The more knowledge you obtain, the harder TV becomes.Trust me.
Also, that is about as inaccurate as you can get.
I haven't heard the thing about the 70s though.
@LGwalchmai95 @Mark McCullough I always assumed it was predestination or destiny. I believe in destiny - except when it travels back and inspires the Doctor from childhood. Everything else, might be destiny.
@stargazer0118 @Gustaff @Scribey This is a problem. What inspires someone to watch something if the driving force isn't appealing to them?
@Scribey @Gustaff @stargazer0118 I;m not joking. Worst technobabble ever:
The "scientific" explanations in this story gets steadily more and more
insulting, from the Doctor's early blatherings about "strange matter" to
his ludicrous statement that "if that asteroid exploded, it would set
off a blast of gamma rays equivalent to a supernova", but the worst
example (before the Technobabble Hell of part 4) is the Doctor's "I
broke the second law of thermodynamics". The idea that a fundamental law
of the universe could be violated imply by using the wrong kind of
plastic in an experiment (!) is laughable even for Pip and Jane Baker.
When something manages to crush my suspension of disbelief, they've lost the fight and I can endure a lot before my SOD fails. I do enjoy McCoy and 'Mel' conversations though.
@stargazer0118 @Gustaff @BollingerKnickers huh? I meant the scene at the start where he forces her to ask nicely. I find scenes like that very entertaining because it subverts normal DW tropes.
@stargazer0118 @Gustaff @Scribey I'm not a fan of 9 (biased because of Chris' treatment of the show) and I haven't seen that much of 3 - only his highlight stories.
I can understand giving us a very 'bad' character that isn't easily likable, but it feels like it's being shoved down our throats. That I don't like. Don't MAKE me dislike him. Trust me, I'll find something that I disagree on.
@Scribey @Gustaff @stargazer0118 Time and the Rani features some of the worst technobabble ever that just f***s with science on a molucular level.
I got Leisure Hive as present. Apart from Tom and Lalla, not much else saves it for me. Though Delta and the Bannermen is moderately better than Paradise Towers.
@stargazer0118 @BollingerKnickers He does have his moments. I like him in Into the Dalek where he told off that soldier in his TARDIS at gunpoint.
@stargazer0118 @Scribey They pulled a Colin Baker on half the fandom it seems. Pulled a Colin Baker (that's trademark now)
@Scribey @Gustaff @stargazer0118 Masque of Mandragora is awfully boring,
Time and the Rani,
Mindwrap (because I hate what they did to Peri),
Revenge of the Cybermen,
The Hand of Fear
Face of Evil
Nightmare of Eden
The Leisure Hive (0/10)
Four to Doomsday
Invasion of Dinosaurs
Both peladon stories
The Time Monster
Those are some of the worst. Complete waste of my time and money
