@JayBaer Thanks! Yes, this is a topic near and dear to my heart. Currently researching the implications of internal influence on organizational development for an HR conference I am speaking at in Oct. I think we will be hearing a lot more about internal social relationship models and emergent leadership frameworks in the near future (of course I may be the crazy one). I also just realized that you are in Bloomington. I am in Indy. Maybe a coffee sometime?

Great post. Not crazy at all. In fact, I think this shift also warrants a discussion on "Influence". We are not far from (and in some cases already starting to see) Klout-like scores for internal company influencers. Scores and badges aside, to be influential requires consistency and value add, which often comes in the form of content. I like to suggest that this may start out as companies insourcing their content, but will evolve into employees using content creation and promotion to increase their influence and value add to their organizations.
Great post Rocky. Informative, to the point, and a good reminder that I need to start applying Tip #4!
