I can't wait for the follow up to drop, Stage IV Melanoma Mom.
Good news is he won't be able to see his reflection in the mirror.
@Chromag FINALLY, a cop that actually practiced at the range! I saw a LOT of direct hits.
He was a very frugal suicide, using the stores ammo and firearm to complete the act.
The only people that are listening are the protestors.
COMMIT to the tackle, son!
@ecupirate so the pics can "leak"
did Jaime even bathe prior to taping?
but can they say "cookie"?
@peon it's a popcorn movie, but that whole Asian casino scene could have been cut without notice. Most definitely the worst part of the movie. Overall, I enjoyed it for what it was, a Bond film.
Another musical icon that made a major lasting impact on so many artists in just a brief, but brilliant, time.
Me chinee, me play joke, me put peepee in your coke
@Rorschach7 I hear you on that, that's why I usually pick Tuesday early matinees(unemployment has its perks). If its not IMAX, i have a much better viewing experience with bluray at home anyway.
I think Peter Jackson et al did a magnificent job of bringing Middle Earth to life. All of the locations from the book were spot on! I thought the 48fps 3D was excellent and the detail was wild, like the pattern on the back old Bilbo's vest. If you go see it, see it in 48fps 3D for a radically new experience at the movies.
@ipd02 I'm not making an absolute judgement. I'm not making any judgement. I was alluding to the fact that mental healthcare is even more difficult to access than routine medical care. Even people with "decent" health insurance find it difficult to be adequately covered for proper mental healthcare. I was also, rather weakly, pointing out how up in arms people would be about forcing someone to take their meds for the patient and society's safety.
In the case of Sandy Hook, the perpetrator did not even own the guns, so all of the gun laws in the world would not prevent it. Just as the current gun laws do not prevent all the gun violence in our major cities such as Chicago(with some of the most restrictive in the country). That being said, if the owner had properly stored the guns in a safe and had trigger locks...
We also need to pause and reflect on the last major rush to judgement which resulted in a mostly ridiculous waste of time and money which is the TSA (and let's leave the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan out this).
I am, as I would hope everyone on here would be, horrified of the events of last week. I would hope that some good could spring forth from this tragedy. I would also hope that emotional and reckless decisions would not be made for the sake of "doing something." Have rational and intelligent discussions to help prevent further tragedies such as Sandy Hook. Can we eliminate tragedies like this from happening again, certainly not, but we can definitely mitigate the number and severity.
It is difficult if not impossible to comprehend evil and irrational acts. So the finger pointing and name calling start boiling up on social media. Traditional Media fans the flames by providing entirely too much detail and coverage. First they rushed to put a name on the perpetrator. Then they rushed to put a face on him: "Oh, this great," said the segment producer. "The perpetrator pic looks like an average all-american kid." Then they rushed to find the heroes of the situation(I'm glad they did this). Now they milk this story for the next few weeks until the ratings take a dip or new horrific event takes its place.
The signal to noise ratio in this country is so out of whack, I'm afraid all that will come out of this is something that appears to "do something" when it really is just regurgitated repackaged form of what already exists. I hope I am wrong.
Just seems like both sides are perpetuating the tragedy by pointing at an obvious and emotionally charged scapegoat - guns. It is the tool that was used. But just as in most of this horrific incidents, it comes down to mental healthcare being difficult to access.
It is much easier to take someone's firearms under current and established laws than it is to force someone to take their medication so that they can function within acceptable societal norms. "How barbaric to infringe upon that person and force them to take their medication." That's where the real heart of this issue should be focused.
Lady GaGa, utterly mystifying that she is famous.
To clarify, It was 17 kids that attended the schools at which I worked. There were MANY more than that during my time.
I worked in Philly Schools for several years, its stunning the ease of access to ILLEGAL guns to the students. In my little under a decade of time in Philly Schools, we lost 17 kids to street violence, mostly due to stupid beefs which ended is gunfire. The immensity of the problem is Herculean and quite frankly nothing of merit is being done about it. It burned me out.
Most crimes involving guns(not involving murder/attempted murder) the gun gets negotiated out of the situation prior to trial. This is important because gun involvement requires mandatory sentencing so they pretend it didn't happen. Philly's response is to blame the guns because it is much easier to do than to actually start to fix the underlying social situations that are the true issue. The DA's office has also done a poor job of protecting witnesses in violent crimes and therefore very few step forward to help convict the pieces of shit that are destroying lives and neighborhoods(FUCK DON'T SNITCH in these situations).
@Foggy_Otis Uber works well down here in Philly and the cabs are pretty reasonable, just negotiate with your cabbie.
