@ilyootha 2013, 2013.. I remember typing 2012 and thinking it sounded wrong but I completely forgot!

Went for Sheree Folkson. I think we can all agree that In the Forest of the Night had its flaws but one of its strongest features was the impeccable direction. Loved the way Folkson utilised the TARDIS set!

An excellent piece, Mark. In the Forest of the Night next, perhaps? It's had a lot of flak for having spotty science - seems like a good place to start :D

@supermoff @Planet of the Deaf Totally in agreement. There's something so gratifying about coming in from the cold of the autumn and settling in with Doctor Who..

To be honest, the Daily Mail have a point. The bit they highlighted (“Clara Oswald is stalked by an alien life form in a sequence that would not look out of place in an adult horror film") is genuinely terrifying. Like, proper scary movie stuff.

@TheOncomingHurricane @PK-S I know. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said - I feel like I'm showing off. But it's not as good as it sounds. It's like opening your presents early... it just feels.. wrong.
I have to agree with every word - it's a terrific episode and this reviews just sums it up!
@AlexanderofAlzarius I'm really not sure to be honest. It sounds like something to take up with Duffy, really - it features the Greek Muses hence why I said it featured Greek mythology.

@Gustaff Oh, thank you, Gustaff - you're so lovely and so encouraging with comments like this. This appears to be the last of the Time Trips alas but there'll be more new Who lit to review next year!
@The Finn Thank you! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did..
@Deus_Ex_Machina They're short, bite-sized little stories and while the likes of Engines of War and the Virgin New Adventures are vastly superior, they're lovely little things to while away half an hour or so..
@Tardis Boy Well, Greek and Roman mythology really - I should have specified! Thank you, this was one of the more interesting stories!
And the moral of this story, kids, is that you.. GRAB YOUR PITCHFORKS AND MARCH!

I'm not the biggest fan of DIM/EotD myself but when I set out to write an episode, I wanted to incorporate what Who did with New York into it and other than The Angels Take Manhattan, DIM/EotD is the closest you'll get :-)
Thank you again!
@The Genie Uh oh - I predict a furore in the 2nd Opinion comments.. ;-)

I get the feeling that we'll find out who Missy is at the end of 'Dark Water' and that the preceding episode will be the clue-laden build-up to it..

An interesting review, Clint and I'm glad you share my feelings about this episode but was it really necessary to explain what perspective is? Otherwise another excellent review and I look forward to your thoughts on the finale.
I think the big question here is why Missy is wearing fruit in her hat.

@ilyootha, a proud member of C.L.A.R.A. Surprisingly easy one - the Puffin e-books. Purely because they've been of a higher quality and less erratic than the Time Trips - they've also been more fun and had stronger Doctor/companion characterisation.
@Deus_Ex_Machina Seems bizarre why they haven't already. Someone get George Mann on the phone..
@Notsosmartguy's got no strings on him But that wasn't because of her gender? Any screenwriter - male or female - that agrees to write for the show knows they are opening themselves up to criticism. Just because the only female writer of the show received a bad reception doesn't mean other women won't come forward - it was the content not the writer.

@MrRazza is wittily changing his name for each week Yeah, if you look at the recent Time Trips series then a few of the authors there managed to completely fail at Doctor/companion characterisation. And these are for duos that have been around for decades.
5 months, 2 weeks ago on Silhouette Review
@Gustaff Sadly, this is the lot (in part I'm not complaining because I've had to read these three books at a quicker pace than I would have liked) but, if memory serves me correctly, Richards said they were finalising plans for next year. My dream line-up is Jonathan Morris, Jenny Colgan and Steve Cole but Colgan seems unlikely (she's bogged down with her own sci-fi novels now). As @zkotkami says below, Holly Black's Lights Out is out next month and I've done a review for that, which you should see round the publication date.
@Chris502 Exactly, and if you don't like it then so what? DWTV said it was a cameo after all..

Smashing review, DWTV. Of all the previews on the Internet, these ones always help adjust my expectations. One quibble - you've written Voyage of the Demand as opposed to Voyage of the Damned. Oops. In your third paragraph, you're basically alluding to the fact Clara is in Mummy on the Orient Express (says so in the synopsis) but you can't say. Since the comments are - sort of - off the record, I'm not sure if you can say.. Anyway, terrific review. What are your initial thoughts on Flatline from the 'next time' trailer summed in.. oh, let's say.. 3 words?

So, according to the AI, the best episodes of series 8 are Time Heist and Into the Dalek in joint first place followed by The Caretaker and then Listen, Robot of Sherwood and Deep Breath. Some fans are not gonna be pleased..

@sontaran17 Oh, are you the new reviewer? :D
6 months ago on Time Heist Review
An interesting review, Clint. Not one I agree with, really, but then again, it's always fun to read reviews that clash with your own opinion. "Fairing worse than Miss Delphox is Clara, who has never been written more poorly than in this episode. Examine Clara’s role..." is a fair criticism but Clara has, essentially, been the main character in the previous four episodes. I was delighted by Time Heist because it didn't give Clara much to do as I felt she needed a week off. Also, your line about Miss Delphox left a pretty bad taste in my mouth.
@sontaran17 @Gustaff @TardisBoy And it's never explicitly said that it's on Gallifrey in The Day of the Doctor. All signs seem to point to it not being Gallifrey. Then you've got the whole.. why use a device thats burn up a planet on said planet? O.o
6 months, 2 weeks ago on 12 Great Moments From Listen
A splendid article, you two. Great choices. Regarding number 1, I just adored that speech. Good God, Steven Moffat can write well. "Fear makes companions of us all" is a line from An Unearthly Child and it's mild fan-service like that that makes me love Moffat every week.
@Planet of the Deaf As a creative exercise I tried writing some 12/Clara stories and I found it surprisingly easy. You just have to think 'The Doctor is mean, he's irascible, he doesn't put up with nonsense' throughout and it flows onto the page more or less. However, that's me after three (nearly four) complete episodes. Poor Tucker must have really struggled because, as I say, Capaldi is a glowering physical presence and hard to capture on paper.
6 months, 2 weeks ago on The Crawling Terror Review
@ Notsosmartguy @supermoff is alone. Listen... Engines of War is a gem and Touched By An Angel is terrific despite the fact it's light on sci-fi - and Joanne Harris' recent The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Time Traveller is astounding for a short read.
