@jennifl I'm with you. Some treadmills can be better than others at switching speeds efficiently. If intervals are completely new for you, I'd recommend something along these lines:
Repeat 3 times through.
Having the walk in there will help you find your bearings each time through, and from there you can move on to more advanced HIIT workouts when you start feeling a little more comfortable on the 'mill. Here's a handy guide with a couple more workouts you can try! http://greatist.com/fitness/interval-training-for-newbies/ Let us know how it goes!

@thescrewisloose The nutrition facts are for five jumbo shrimp via myfitnesspal: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/food/calories/kegs-shrimp-cocktail-5-jumbo-tiger-shrimp-w-martini-cocktail-sauce-4478387. But yes, this count does seem a bit high! For your average-sized shrimp, it's looking more like 2-4 grams of protein a piece. Thanks for keeping us on our toes!

@Nick Goodall Oh right, I remember coming across this one. Great perspective. Thanks! :)
@Nick Goodall Yeah, everyone's so different. If you happen to still have that article on hand, I'd love to give it a read!
@Nick Goodall I hadn't heard about how breathing is taught for army training specifically, but it's definitely worth looking into! Thanks for the comments, Nick!

@50by25 Good question! Based on Kellie's research, ideally those soles will be hard and dense, so my guess is that a worn-in shoe wouldn't qualify. Once the integrity of the sneaker has been compromised, it's probably time to retire those old running shoes for good. What do you do end up doing with all of yours?

@ElyssaAlbert I think soy milk comes the closest in terms of taste and consistency, although will all these alternatives they can take a little getting used to. Almond milk is also a great option, and many of the unflavored varieties can be lower in sugar than regular cow's milk which, for me, is a plus. Hope that helps!

@Aldo Biondolillo Hi Aldo, If you're looking to add some dried fruit to your salad, dried cranberries (or craisins) are a popular choice. Those can up the antioxidants and add a (small) amount of Vitamins E, K, and some dietary fiber, too. Just be sure to look at the sugar content, and if that's a concern, opt for brands without any added sugar. Thanks for reading!

For those who are already injured, you're right, it's best to proceed with caution. Depending on the injury, barefoot running could very well aggravate the injury more. But if barefoot running is still something you're set on trying, I'd recommend consulting with a certified physical therapist or running specialist first. Stay safe, and thanks for reading!

@RocktownRosie Yeah, it's definitely no joke, right? That's awesome that you got through it, though, and made key adjustments along the way! We had to do it in sand, so at times it was tough to keep up. Going at your own pace seems like the way to go. :)
