I'm going to toss my cookies. I haven't even had any cookies. In fact, I'm going to go home and have cookies, just so I can toss them!
I know Doctor Who aims to be scary, and creepy - and at times it succeeds. But to ask whether it's actually suitable for kids anymore is beyond ridiculous IMO.

@doctorwhotvuk Damn. Was quite excited for this episode. Although the robot from the trailer (forgot the name) did look a bit silly but I hoped it wouldn't be symbolic of the episode's quality.
I'll see how it plays out. I'm hoping that at least the dynamic the Doctor's presence creates is enough to make me enjoy.

I watched '127 Hours' again today and I implore you to watch it if you haven't already. It's a genuinely perfect film, I'd perhaps even call it a masterpiece. James Franco is amazing and translates Aron Ralston's struggles and bravery wonderfully. The cinematography is stunning and he soundtrack is perhaps just as beautiful as the film. Listen to the tracks 'Touch of The Sun' and 'If I Rise'.
It's one of those films I can watch over and over again and never get tired of it. Seriously, give it a watch!

Another great addition, Mark. Some great picks! Thought "Shut shutitty up up!" Should have been in there too ;)
@TheBiPunishment I hope it's not all completely meaningless either. I want some death that actually has impact one way or other.

@YaelMoise @TARDlSkey It's kind of silly though. I mean, clearly it wasn't intended to be interpreted that way. Basically, every time Clara has been going on a date, she's shown to put a lot of effort into it. The Doctor's noticed and probably wonders how she's so determined to impress somebody like Danny when dinner with him will be nowhere nearly as exciting and amazing as so much as a little hop in the TARDIS. It's not a romantic-intent. It's just the Doctor's competitiveness showing. It actually reminded me of the scene in TPoT when the Doctor looked down on Rory's job in comparison to an adventure with him.
Really, you can chose to see it any which way. But if you really did enjoy the episode, I wouldn't let something as simple as that ruin it.

Now this looks particularly fantastic! Love knowing he's using his John Smith alias again, I don't recall Matt using it very often. Still hoping for an Ian cameo/reference of sorts.
Can't wait to see how this episode plays out :D

It was fun! Not spectacular, but worked as a standalone episode and some nice moments between characters too. I think the whole 'love story' (I guess?) worked better here than Hide.
7/10 for now.
@NightRises @TARDlSkey Exactly! It feels so subtle, yet so in your face too... if that makes any sense? The fact that it's also been referred to in Moffat-penned episodes is all the more interesting.
It seems like a very 'Moffat' thing to do as well; subtly referencing it so that it will likely go unnoticed and then it becomes a whole thing at the end.

Does anybody else thing a death for Clara may be potential or at least a 'close call' for when she leaves? I doubt myself that's the route they'll go with her departure since Amy & Rory kind of, sort of left by death and it may be a bit soon. But it's been teased twice so far in series 8 and both times Clara's responded by not wanting to know. Strax was interrupted when he said "expected lifespan..." and even though he said she was going to do quite well, he was basing it off her health - not by event. Then in Listen, the Doctor said after she was connected to the TARDIS, her whole timeline will be accessible from birth to death to which she replied with "Which I do not need a sneak preview of".
It's probably nothing, but the fact she's so adamant not to know a single thing about how or where she dies and the potential of seeing the end of her life has been brought up twice is intriguing. To me at least.
Personally, I'd actually want to know how I'll cob off.

Great review again! I'm really looking forward to this episode, surprisingly more than I ever thought. I'm not getting too excited, but I don't want to dampen my anticipation so much that I'm barely looking forward to the episode at all. Lately, despite enjoying the episodes and looking forward to them, there's things that have been lessening my excitement and enjoyment. It takes a second rewatch for me to fully experience the joy I'd normally get by watching it the first time.
Anyway, it'll be interesting to see how this episode holds up to Thompsons' previous scripts.

So Mummy on The Orient Express and Kill The Moon have gone up on my most anticipated list. They both sound amazing. Orient because of the "lots of deaths" and the fact it has to be aired later due to the Mummy being deemed too scary and KTM because of the apparent big moment between the Doctor and Clara.
Such juicy, juicy info! :D

Hi! Some time away has actually helped me gather some things together. Still things left to do, but I'm actually feeling a lot better, as if a weight's been lifted. I thought I'd pop back on to see how things have been going and it seems that stuff's happened? O.o
Anyway, just saying I'm back and it's been the hardest thing possible to watch Listen and not come here and talk about it! I was having DWTV withdrawal symptoms!
I'll be taking some time away for a bit. Things are going on right now in my life that's sort of getting me down and affecting the way I come across and treat people - which may or may not have been noticeable lately, I don't know. But I need some time away to gather myself and dedicate my attention blah, blah and I don't really want to come here to get away from those things and accidentally offend or bring people down. I'm just letting you know so that it's not like I randomly vanished.
Don't know how long I'll be gone, guess you'll know when I'm back. As of now though, bye bye!

I know Capaldi is really the actor getting the key development; to ground his Doctor and basically 'fit into his skin', but in a way, S08 is recreating Clara too. In all three episodes so far, she's been written perfectly and Jenna's continued to give a stellar performance. The thought that she'll be growing with Capaldi's Doctor; developing further and becoming a more 'real' character, the worse the thought is she could be leaving by the end of the year.
After the last three episodes alone, I hope she sticks around for at least most of S09! Really hope she's characterised just as brilliantly or better (if possible) throughout the remaining series. She's made her way to becoming one of my favourites. She's already in my top 3.
@Mark McCullough Not my favourite just yet, but he's found his ground I think. He's probably made his way into my top 5, though!
@Swozor @TARDlSkey Ah. Hadn't read it fully. Silly me.

So, this was replaced by the falling scene? I like both actually. This would have been more climactic IMO.
Pretty good overall, though I'd say Robin and his Merry Men were packed with cheese that could have been toned down. But I'm able to look passed it, I guess. Will gather my final thoughts upon a few more rewatches, but I definitely invested into it more than Into The Dalek :P

@Scribey @TARDlSkey @TheOncomingHurricane @ClassicWhovian Yeah, he did the Sky Arts Playhouse Presents and he said that directing's really peeked his interest. I'd like to see him branch out to different roles.

@TheOncomingHurricane @Scribey @ClassicWhovian I thought he wanted to direct an episode?
@The Finn @TARDlSkey I genuinely would love to!
@Ladydetemps This should explain it: http ://youtu.be/8JePguX_Vis
@ClassicWhovian I really think the Doctor will be a perfect balance between cold harshness and skeptic comic. The whole scene of him saying, "No damsels in distress, no pretty castles, no such thing as Robin Hood" before the arrow hits the TARDIS, and his reaction, feels like the Doctor will be very balanced which I'm intrigued to see.
