NBC is wasting a great opportunity of assigning Darren Pang as analyst.  He's a lot of fun to listen to, he's very much into the game he's calling and is far above the "here let me educate you" attitude of Engblom and McGuirre.

The NYY and the Dodgers unis are far far better than that of the Cards.  If the Cards' is number one is because it's a subjective list and the author had to pay tribute to his favorite team.. Thanks.

The Bills.  Just send the memo early to the Pats: "don't make it a blow out so we can keep the tv audience."

People also gave the Pats for dead and the Packers as champs after their match up at Lambeau.

These analysis read like the same tired stuff of years past plus some gratuitous enthusiasm for the new faces.  It seems that the writer doesn't really bother to listen to any other team than AM/CC of NBC.  Anyway it's all subjective.

I get why the Miracle broadcaster gets so much love, but in my view, well... I don't even listen to him anymore, so I'd be doing the very thing I'm pointing out.

Whether  to "sign a journeyman quarterback such as Jason Campbell or Brian Hoyer, but is that option more appealing then trying to develop Manuel...?" or not, a defensive head coach leading a team that shows a big inability to score TDs is unlikely to bring the Bills to a higher level than they already have, but that's better then nothing.

I managed to go through the whole season without watching SNF or MNF, (even with my favorite teams playing) and I'm glad I did.  Then I watched the Steelers- Ravens play off game and Collinsworth came up with his Goodell's integrity comment.

FOX underappreciates the talent they have around.  Demoting Kenny Albert was a clear sign of that.  His team improved this season, I found Goose's comments at the beginning of the games to be right on the spot most of the times and he also refrained from making inane comments just for the heck of it during the games.  Moose only needs to loosen up a little bit and add a little fun to his comments, Kenny certainly has a knack for that.  Kenny as always calling a great game, in a concise, emotive way, always on top of every play, for instance, he wasn't fooled by the Rams trick plays against Seattle.

Buck and Aikman are good at keeping a fan interested in a game, but I doubt fans make any clear sense of what they say.  They are the number one team because of their names.

That's just about as much as FOX has to offer in terms of booth talent.  We also saw Brian Anderson (FOX Sports Wisconsin) work for TBS and CBS this last season, while FOX keeps giving us the Myers, Brennamans of the world.

And that guy Justin Kutcher, he's a sickening  Chip Caray sound-alike.

CBS teams are the best, except for their "number 1" team.  I watched only two games called by them, one TNF game and the game between the Pats and the Packers.  Nantz doesn't put anything into calling a game.  They built up such hype for the NE-GB match and when it started Nantz induced a few yawns from me.  Simms doesn't add anything to the broadcast that a regular fan doesn't already now.

Their best team is that of Harlan/Gannon.  They are a lot of fun to listen to, they get along very well and love calling the games, it shows on their broadcasts and it makes for a great watching experience.

The Bird and the Beard didn't improve much from previous seasons.  Eagle has a very nice voice and style, and Fouts doesn't need to wait for the replays to tell us what happened on a play, which shows he's really good at his job.  The addition of Jenny Dell made for a more pleasant broadcast. They certainly deserved a play off game, but NBC took two games this year.

The teams of Dedes/Wilcotts and Catalon and the Steves are very good and deserve a greater window.  Wilcotts did not work very well when he was paired with Harlan, but now it seems he found his perfect fit with Dedes.  Catalon calls a great game and the Steves don't step on each other's lines.  I think Tasker deserves to be featured on his own regular team maybe with Brian Anderson.

Speaking of which, it seems that the CBS broadcast teams were not deep and good enough so they brought Brian Anderson for a couple of games late in the season!  Shows how much FOX underappreciates the talent they have around (for they demoted Kenny Albert also).

All in all CBS blows away the competition.

The "anonymous person" that evaluates broadcasts is obviously not doing a great job evaluating the rest of the broadcasting teams.

And Aikman dropped another gem in that interview:

"When it [the Dez Bryant play] happened I did not think for a minute it was not a catch."

I don't disagree with that.

Why should the team worry that specifically Burkhardt and  Lynch don't call the team by their nickname?

As if the CBS broadcast teams weren't good and deep enough, they add Brian Anderson now.  CBS definitely blows away the competition.

Mattingly should not get fired.  Yes he made a blunder in the game the Dodgers were eliminated, but it's not his fault his ace choked (twice), or that the bullpen didn't perform or that the offense was so anemic.  This big contract, big ego team needs to come down to Earth and just perform like their bay neighbors.

I didn't get to see this  report on FOX since I get the MLB International feed.  I don't recall what inning it was when Gary Thorne broke the news, but as he was reading the note he clearly became more and more unbelieving of what he was reading.  Rick Sutcliffe was very sad too, and they could hardly say anything, it was very difficult for them.

@mremis  Agreed about the bottom ticker, it's to wide and distracting, they also have that on the NFL broadcasts.

On the other and, it seems that no matter how many cameras they have in the arena, they use the one in the center about 90% of the time.

Calling Puig a "superstar" and saying that Mattingly "foolishly" benched him sounds like cheerleading.

Puig is way too focused on himself, on being the hero, and on showing off his great arm.  He hardly thinks in team terms.  I don't know whether Gonzalez's and Uribe's advice go in one ear and out the other.  If there's a good oportunity to strenghten the bullepn by trading him, I'd say go ahead.

The "face" of the Dodgers?  That's a certain left hander who got beat twice in the division series.
