Not really.  Per reports, no one will pay Semin 6.7 to stay in the NHL.  This isn't entirely about money, or Semin would go to the KHL and earn 10 million.

Many people are suggesting that Semin is worth 4 or 5 tops.  I think anything less than 5.5 is low-balling that will be rejected out of hand.  I think 5.5 million/one year with performance bonuses for extra pay and years is appropriate given the market on Semin.

Here is a thought: 1 year, 5.5 million with 0.5 in performance bonuses, and an automatic 5 year renewal if he hits 40 goals or 80 points.

Enough low-balling.  We have the money.  Semin has the talent.  I don't expect him to be the team's savior, but if we want him, we need to pay him.

I'd offer Semin $5.5 to 6 million, 2 years.

This is another agreement.  I don't mind spending high to get someone.  But spending high just to break their budget is a low class move.  Kenny should only make an offer to get the player.

I agree that Yandle is hardly a saint.  But do you really equate something like Malkin's post game fight or Yandle's trip with Weber's assault (which he joked about afterward).  But my point with this was our locker room.  There is no reason to think there is extra heat between Yandle and Z.  But Webers attack was viscious and recent. Can they co-exist in the same room if Weber signed?

I am torn about this idea.  First -- Weber should be a last resort option after proving how dirty a player he is by assaulting Zetterberg.  Do we know if he'd be toxic in the locker room? I'd rather trade for Yandle.

Second....12 million for a one year rental is a very questionable move.  I seriously question whether a year in Hockeytown will get Weber to re-sign for a more reasonable 7 or 8 million.  Nashville has $30 million to sign six players.  They could match a 12 million offer sheet and have 18 million to divide among five guys.  It's doable, and after losing Suter; they can't afford to lose Weber at any cost.

Let's sign Semin or Doan, and use our depth in forwards (Mursak, Emmerton, Abbie's rights, Miller to trade for Yandle.

I know Coffey is less likely. But we don't have a lot of alumni defensemen i'd like to see. Can Fischer play a game?

This has the potential to be an amazing game. There are so many former Wings still around that any roster would leave off some who deserve to wear the Winged Wheel again. That said....i'd love to see:

The Captain's Line: Yzerman, Shanahan, Kocur

Grind Line: Draper, Maltby, McCarty

Legends Line: Marcel Dionne, John Ogrodnick, Mickey Redmond

Fourth Line: Larionov, Doug Brown, Dallas Drake

Defense: Mark Howe, Paul Coffey, Rafalski, Chelios, Larry Murphy, Reed Larson

Goal: Osgood and Vernon

Bowman to coach.

This would put 7 hall of famers, and three former captains on the ice.
