@DonMiller I'm having some barometric pressure issues -- I've had to manually calibrate it to match other weather stations in the area. But the uncalibrated values are appearing on the Wunderground uploads.

I have one other weather station that I'm comparing things to also, but I can't share that information externally...

...or can I?

www.netatmo.com <-- if you choose to create an account, you can see my weather station called "Rexford Navarre".

@MartiAD  Thanks so much for reading all about it! We had a great time! We're moving to Colorado this summer, so my days of running @ WDW are winding down. I'd like to get some Disneyland races under my belt too, but I'm not sure I can swing a coast to coast.Great to have "met" you too -- although we could still cross paths before I leave. I've a couple more 5Ks on my scope. I had wanted to do the Fiesta 10K but we'll be out of town that weekend.Yes, McGuire's was crazy crowded, it's going to be my next blog post.

This photo album will give you an idea of how I did it.  I think I bought the silver shimmer dust at a craft store where cake decorating stuff is sold.

@MaryannTiaEngelGoldman  @DonMiller Kudos on the soaking of the beans and the cooking of the carcasses.  I've been doing that for years and it's a profound difference in flavor (not to mention the collagens that come out of the bones). I want to crack the code on beef broth -- I picked up some marrow bones at Publix and they cooked down really nicely, but didn't taste like beef broth. This question is more for Don: Dave wonders where -- nutritionally -- you get the energy for running. With so little sugar and carbohydrates, does the energy get tapped from fat reserves?  Protein reserves?  He's very nervous about going against doctor's orders regarding the cholesterol. He's getting it checked every 2-3 months and is on medication to control it.  So to go back to eggs, sausage and bacon for breakfast every morning...with a cup of whole milk...scares him considerably. In other news, I found out last week that the WIC Program in Nebraska doesn't ALLOW using their vouchers for whole milk.  What do you think about that???

@MaryannTiaEngelGoldman @DonMiller Lots of questions for you:  You could easily answer these ones:1.) Are there any fruits of vegetables that you *don't* include? For example we could easily cut the white rice/bread parts of our meal, but do you eat cooked corn? Potatoes?  Sweet potatoes? I know you've served mashed cauliflower before, I've never made that, but I think the kids might be willing.

2.) Brown rice?

3.) Oats? Oatmeal? Granola? Dave is now under doctor's care for high cholesterol, so oats have been a very important part of his diet lately.

4.) How did you do during that week in D.C.? Did you bring a lot of your own foods? Or stop at grocery stores instead of restaurants?

5.) What's the name of the doctor whose methodologies you're following? I have an AF friend in San Diego who I was talking to about your (successful) changes and I could NOT remember the doctor's name for the of me.  She's interested in learning more.

Thanks for your insight, friends!

@MaryannTiaEngelGoldman I remember pointing 100 Days of Real Food to you (you might have seen it before, but I remember putting it on your page last spring).  I read that ENTIRE BLOG when they were actually doing that first 100 days and it was most fascinating. When I need to do is take the time to do this right. Much of my failure at this is related to not taking the time to plan my meals.  I need to learn to pre-cook things like bacon, chicken and beans to use later in the week when things get hectic. Many folks don't realize I did the Atkins Diet in 2000 and it worked like a charm. But that's a more extreme example, where even eating carrots would turn off the "ketosis" effect that no carbs does on your body.  I was miserable, but skinny.

@DonMiller My cooler wouldn't have fit all those fish whole, that's for sure.  One of the parties with us had a HUGE cooler in the car and he ran to the car to get it and just tossed in his whole fish.  I might have been able to fit 1-2 whole fish into my own (smaller) cooler.

@FrugalKiwi So far so good -- I'm not convinced w/ the automatic dishwasher detergent quite yet, though...that post is forthcoming, I'm giving it a couple more days to give it a chance to work.

Thanks -- as a military family, it's a tough decision to make -- what stays and what goes.  And things that go will go forever.  It's sad.  I had some suggestions to keep a digital copy of our favorite artwork...maybe that project is forthcoming.  But not this year :-)

Thanks for the input, ladies!

I need to look more into keeping the boys' work digitally.  After all, more and more of their work is done digitally -- both boys have already had to do Powerpoint-type presentations at school, would you believe it???Little do their teachers know that Dave and I are both POWERPOINT WARRIORS and have been teaching our kids all kinds of fun stuff with animations, embedded You Tube videos, etc.

Mua ha ha haha!
