Zacha has tons of talent, no doubt about that. He played against the men in the Czech ExtraLeague at the age of 16 (and actually scored 8 pts in 38 games with very limited icetime) but he may be risky pick for the Leafs. Wherever he played there were dressing room issues, not because of the kid, but because of his father who pushes the kid through the system and constantly clashes with coaches, managers etc. Given Zacha obvious talent he gets his way most of the time. My gut feeling is telling me that Zacha Sr. would not be happy if the Leafs let Zacha jr. develop in Juniors and than in the AHL for 2-3 years. They would push for making the NHL as soon as possible. The father did that all the time in the Czech Republic with regards to making ExtraLeague, U-20 squad atc. Hence Zacha Jr. got troublemaker-label which may explain volatility in his draft rankings.

it is very encouraging to see the Leafs adding scouting personel from different leagues. I had no idea Yevgeny Namestnikov is employed by the Leafs. Excellent news IMO. The Leafs got this Nikita Soshnikov kid for free and you never know. Anyway by finding these undrafted/unsigned guys the Leafs are widening their pool of players which can never hurt.

Two must wins ahead for Marlies against Lake Erie and Rochester tomorrow and on Saturday. Both teams are bellow the Marlies in the standings.

Leafs should play both Orr and MacLaren. They are done as NHLers, perhaps also as hockey players, why not to give them some games and show appreciation and respect. I think it would be nice gesture. If they help tanking, even better. Players like Kozun should be helping Marlies to make the play-offs.

@Dogger give Willie more time, Kadri came from OHL while Willie from overseas and had to adjust his game. Once completely settled into North American game, he will be even better.

Unless you get at least one solid NHL regular and one servicable player out of every draft you are seriously screwed. Leafs missed on so many occasions. No wonder they are in such a mess.

I do not like it.

I agree the leafs must deal with it, but internally. Sit Kadri for whatever  number of games, talk to him, but publicly announce lower body injury and that´s it.

@Jay31 What matters is his AHL stats, which give best possible NHL comparison. 12 pts in 19 games for 18 years old Nylander is pretty impressive.

@HHT I actually want Phil to score at least 7 goals in the remaining games, he needs to keep his 30+ goals season streak alive

@MaxwellHowe With this D, Leafs will face 40+ every second game and Reimer who is best when facing that many shots could have a tendency to steal some games, whereas Bernier will let tons of goals behind this crappy D

Do not mess with Marlies call up ECHL guy, that would be real commitment to tanking :)

Leafs should send all eligible players to Marleis to help them in their playoff quest and replace them with Colton orr, Frazer MacLaren etc. First it helps tanking but most importantly getting Marlies into playoffs should be top priority for the Leafs. Brown, Leipsic, Nylander, Gibson/Bibeau, Loov and company  making playoffs and having that experience is crutial for the furute of this team.

3 weeks, 3 days ago on Sunday Mashup: Kadri sent home by Horachek

@Great Dane @Stop! In The Name Of Loov yup, with exception of first rounders (Colaicovo, Schenn, Kadri) I am not sure if there was a North American player Leafs drafted in recent years who made the team. Reimer and that´s it. Whereas European scouting produced significantly more.

Leafs need strong management group to deflect some of the attention, talkative people - GM and coach, or at least assistant coach to give media hords something so the players are somewhat free of constant media attention.

I am glad that the Leafs got some bodies  back (Brewer, Lindstrom) so young guns can play all together with Marlies. Their playoff push is far more important than the Leafs. Time to boost the roster, get some chemistry and make the playoffs.

@TuckerForPunishment easy fix - losing games in high scoring fashion 7 to 5, 6 to 5 etc, which gives you losing record to get better draft pick and yet enables Kessel and company score tons of points
