@JMK8363 Perhaps Glass got more ice time and played better than Carcillo?  I just don't know... all I know is that when Carcillo was playing, except for that disastrous suspension.... he played very very well....

Again.... Carcillo was an impact player.... he has evolved from a pure goon to a pest, to a pest who can score.... I would not write him off so easily...

@Josh-CK McDonagh's an outstanding player, but he is not a leader.  He is a quiet introverted guy... nothing wrong with that but that is not the criteria for leadership.

@Josh-CK  I don't care what he did in the past.  It's how he performs now.  We should learn from trading away fierce warrior type players who want to win.  Didn't you watch the Kings in this year's Stanley Cup, or were you following the Yankees?!

Nice... Martin St. Louis.... no one would dispute that....

But the most incredible thing watching the videotapes, was DUBINSKY STANDING UP FOR TEAMMATES..... He stood up against Carcillo and Crosby... right in there in their face.... I miss Dubinsky... he has really emerged as a tough, exciting really good hockey player.

Agree totally with BobDunne.... For all the negativity surrounding Carcillo, he came up big at times.... he had more impact than half of our team... he is not a Wayne Gretzky.... he is a player who knows how to protect his teammates and who can surprise you with his offensive prowess.  Sure, he made a mistake by trying to free himself from an OVERLY AGGRESSIVE linesman during the playoffs... but frankly that is such a minor infraction compared to the goals and excitement he brought to our season last year...

Re-sign the guy!!!  Either that or go get Big Boy trouble-maker LUCIC.... he also has a temper and can protect his teammates, but costs five times as much as Carcillo... you work the math.

Great signing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Absolutely delighted that both parties agree... This is the type of win-win negotiations we should have had with Callahan, except that his lawyer  rep is a douche.  Having said that... it just goes to show that people are generally selfish and greedy, so each to his or her own.

There are the favorites, but I'm sure we will hear the echo of "Clean Slate" when it comes to securing a roster spot....

Good luck to all candidates....

@ObviouslyWeHadAGoodRun I agree with all the positive comments about Carcillo.... based on his on ice performance... that guy is better than Glass, Dorsett or any tough guy we've had for ages...

I don't know why we signed Glass and would keep Carcillo, unless Sather wants a fourth line of Glass, Moore and Carcillo....  or have Carcillo as a back up in Hartford in case Glass gets hurt/vice versa

When I read this, I just think of the possibilities and it sets my expectations... if the guy does not pan out, then so be it... if a guy turns out to be a superstar and we did not predict it, no problem.... no one predicted Lundqvist would be great either.....

Way too much analysis on a player who is not that important.  Moreover, your interpretations are subjective too.  If you are just trying to be argumentative, that's fine.  But I suggest you get a job flipping hamburgers at McDonalds this summer to relieve your boredom!!!  Better than trying to embellish a boring topic....

They are very very similar... maybe Glass is a bit tougher and a better fighter at this stage... but Asham in his prime was an excellent fighter...

I like the acquiring Glass... him, Carcillo and Moore form an outstanding fourth line... I like it better than Boyle Moore and Dorsett...  people underestimate Glass and Carcillo... these guys CAN score... and with a feisty Moore... I like it a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't imagine how difficult it is to sign Dominic Moore... his asking price is reasonable and he is a character, tough guy who is a leader and a competitor... do it Sather!  I do NOT want to be playing against this guy's heart!

Stralman is a very good player... he is worth say, $4.2 million?  Skates well, handles the puck well....

As for the rest.... EVERYONE including every member on this board, is replaceable in your job, unless you are a sole proprieter of a business without a brand name....

So, take heart.... we have a very very good coach who can make good dumplings out of sawdust.... he will whittle together whatever pieces we might scrounge up today... hell, guys.... we don't have any choice anyway, and even if we had all the superstars, it guarantees NOTHING.... just look at Pittsburgh!!!!!

Better give him his marching orders and get someone sensible in... otherwise he will turn into  a Gillis and really destroy our club.

....... After watching Dubinsky play in the playoffs vs. the Penguins, this is the type of player we need... yes, we do need skill players like Martin St. Louis, so let's get some YOUNG skill players.... it is a good mix.... skill players and ferociously competitive players and a couple of hard hitters.... that's it... forget about the OVER THE HILL guys.... the future is what matters, not the past... age has to be factored in....

Good points, Say my Name.... difficult to pity anyone making over $6.0 million and playing as average as these two guys did...

Both Nash and Richards were brought in to deliver the Stanley Cup.  Both underdelivered drastically... yes, they had "good games" but you have to be an offensive powerhouse.  Look around the league at guys making over $6.0 million and look at their production.  I'd say Richards and Nash were at the BOTTOM of that list.

We need to rely on young ferociously competitive players who are hungry... enough of the Scott Gomez, Bobby Holik types, who were decent players in their prime but dropped off the cliff in skills, contribution and passion when we signed them...

Outstanding series only eclipsed by the fact that we did not win, but the level of play and entertainment was terrific....as I read below, the series hinged on so many close plays, pucks that hit the post, stopped at the goal line, horrible calls by the refs that turned the game around... but at the end of the day, our big guns - Nash, Richards and a few others simply did not  deliver.  I also can't understand what happened to Girardi.  If our "super stars" delivered, and if the refs been a bit better, we easily could have won the Stanley Cup.... but those are big "ifs" and "ifs" don't win games, reality does.

Credit must go to the Kings as well.  Damn that team is relentless.  Absolutely never gave up and kept coming.  And, most importantly, although they had played so many 7 game series before the finals, they seemed to overpower us with strength... we were not resilient enough... they bent but did not break...

I suspect Richards and Nash will not be New York Rangers next season.  They are getting paid way too much and they must deliver, but they did not.  Richards is too old.  His legs are gone... he was terrific 6-10 years ago and  I'd like to shake his hands, but it is time to hang it up as a superstar... maybe a couple of more years as a third line player, but that's about it.... and not with New York.  Nash also disappointed us.  Yes, he played well, but he is being paid to score.  He has NOT lived up to his billing.... he is damaged goods, I am afraid...    Let's get some young, hungry athletes in here, like Kreider....

Thanks  Kevin, great blog and a wonderful venue for all to share our thoughts, criticisms, dissing and trolling.... you embrace freedom of speech and add your own deep insights... everyone here adds value, to some extent.....

Again, I agree with your point about the officiating... that gaffe really turned the game.  Normally I'd say, the Kings were going to win anyways, but not in this case.  We are actually the more skilled faster team... and it would be nice to have stolen game two.  In fact, had we stolen game two, this series would be very close and we'd have the edge.  It's not over yet, and if we can play the rest of the Cup this way.... frankly, it is anyone's series to win!

Take heart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now, to give the Kings credit.. great goal by Doughty... but other than that... nothing superlative... just a hard working team... Our speed is mezmerizing... if Hagelin skates with purpose, he will drive the Kings crazy... Honestly we are a NIGHTMARE team for the Kings to match up against....  Quick was good in game one... but Quick has Fleury disease... he has a tendency for gaffes... so, let's see what happens... We'll get there.... but tomorrow, I shall post my first dissing the Rangers post for good luck...

Absolutely spot on.... hey, if we can bring our A game for 15 minutes, we certainly can bring it for 60 minutes.. frankly, our A game is better than their A game... now, the score might not be 6-0 if we played our A game the whole time, but damn we were dominating the Kings...   I thought after watching the Rangers score the first two goals that we were going to win the Stanley Cup for sure....

No, Carcillo is not Marion Gaborik, but he is not expected to score anyway... .the surprise is that HE CAN SCORE and he is TOUGH IN FRONT OF THE NET... so he provides a problem for the Kings to match up....

@FullamChris What is your point?  He is a hot head but he knows how to play, knows the Kings and can be a huge contributor at the right time.  That he is scratched half the time is irrelevant.  He is used when he is needed and usually he contributes big time.  Your post is meaningless.

I've watched every game between Chicago and LA, and honestly, LA is tough, but they are no tougher than the Rangers.... We are a faster team... LA has Kopitar and Dougherty who are good, no doubt, but we have McDonagh and a host of forwards with blazing speed...

Honestly, Hagelin has got to be one of the scariest forwards for LA.... he can skate circles around defensemen and when he decides to play hockey he is dangerous... Zuc... well, we all know the story here... St. Louis - probably one of the most dangerous forwards in the league..... I cringed every time he had the puck when he was playing against us in Tampa.

Gaborik was great... and I'm glad he has had a rejuvenation of his career, but strangely, I always thought he was a bit slow?!!!  Just like he had taken a big crap in his pants as he was skating???   Just looked awkward to me...
