@Wilbur The Leafs should do well against the Habs then, as the smurfs are not bigger, stronger, or harder. They seem to be more determined though. And of course the refs love them.

I have read that management is the problem many times, and yet we are trading all the players. Here is what I would do if I could be owner for a day.
Fire Nonis and appoint Shanny as the interim GM. Tell him to answer the phone and only take a trade if it is a win/win. With the vultures circling there will not be many of those coming.
I would start looking for a GM to hire before the end of the season. No trade deadline worries, etc. Give the GM time to evaluate the organization from the Leafs on down before the draft.
I would have that new GM hire his own coach before the draft. They need to have time to sit and discuss what direction they are going TOGETHER. Then the resignings, trades, drafts can happen. Too many times I have seen the comment that the coach isn't the guy the GM hired. Here is a chance to fix that.
If the problems start with management, so how about the Leafs fix that first.
I don't know who is available, etc in the realm of GMs. I am not in the business, and only know what I can Google and what I can see on the sports pages. I am sure the President of the Toronto Maple Leafs must have an idea who is available and who they want.

You see hundreds of those every year not called icing. Yup, good call all right.

@traNsplantEdneWfie I would triple like that if I could! He is such a suck up.
Healy is over the boards to blow Karrelson!
I think if they can go .500 the rest of the way they still make it. I feel sorry for Reimer because the guys out front now will be squeezing the sticks every time he is in net, trying their best to protect him, and not playing looser. 3 posts, any one of those could have turned the game. It is tough losing to the Habs anytime, but we needed this bad.

Backhanded compliment from Healy, he can still choke on a hot dog.
@rockydundas @Keon_is_my_Captain Not really.
@rockydundas @Keon_is_my_Captain I would not say that the hit from behind was a dive. That is pure bullshit. All I hear is shit chucked at the Leafs, every fucking Saturday night, good nights or bad, all they do is chuck shit at the Leafs. Healy can choke on a hot dog and turn purple on TV and I would cheer. PJ Stock is just a moron with a great gig, and Weeks? WTH is it with washed up goalies on CBC? The best thing they could do is fire Healy and move Hrudy to the big show, he seems to know something. And next year we get Stromb-zombie. I may go back to turning off the sound and putting on music again.
What a bunch of idiotic talking heads.
@traNsplantEdneWfie Nope, I saw that movie a couple of years ago. This has a long way to go for that one.

So tell me again, how is slashing the goalie stick out of his hands not a penalty? I am sure there is something obscure in the book that I missed, like that delay of game thing Saturday.
@ingy56 @Keon_is_my_Captain True enough I guess. Just a frustrated fan here trying to figure out how the players can be standing around at the start of a game, and look so bad. As rustynail says, especially vs the Habs!
11 months ago on Shark Club Game Day: Game #62, Maple Leafs at Canadiens
Considering we are the worst 3rd period team for goals against you would think Carlyle would emphasis a good start. Not sure how that happens game in and game out, but the first 10 min of almost every games seems to be a sleep walk.
@ingy56 @Burtonboy Exactly!
@Belfour20 LIke the Islanders game? You don't spot teams by being lazy or stupid, or both. There seems to be a work ethic thing missing with the team at the start of every game, what the hell is up with that?
You beat smurfs by pounding them on the boards. Like the team that played last year. Fu*king HIT SOMETHING!

no way, no flippin way. that is just wrong
If I can see that the opposition has figured out that our d will ring the puck around to our winger every time, why doesn't Carlyle see it? How many turn overs because their D pinch down and beat our guys to the puck? FFS do something different.
Cursed, right? Must be cursed to have this crap happen almost every game.
@Jay_Berg Coaches don't need to be their friends, they just have to find the right buttons to push to get the best out of the players. Hard but fair is better than what we seem to be seeing right now.
1 year ago on Game Recap: Game #45, Canes – Many vs. Leafs – Very Few
@Jay31 @Keon_is_my_Captain I thought that he did that in Vancouver, his team played a great transition game and it was a speed game.
What do you think about Marc Crawford? I think he could right this sinking ship. The talent is there, but they don't believe in the coach's system, as seen by this latest follies on ice. Since you can't fire the whole team, it makes sense to shake up the team with a coach who can put into place a system that the talent on this team could follow.
I knew the team was in trouble when I saw Carlyle's response to the comment that Trotz made that the Leafs were a rush team. We need a coach who can take a rush team and structure their transition and response. And Carlyle isn't that guy. He is too rigid and to set, and will not change.
Ah, all we need now, our normal shitty reffing.
1 year ago on GDT: Maple Leafs at Hurricanes (7 p.m., Sportsnet)
@JMAC17 Nope, that seems to be the cry all the time. Wilson out and Carlyle in didn't change the team. I think the team needs a new GM. 2 years ago we knew what players Carlyle needed, and NoNo didn't get those players. We need a rush coach, and Wilson wasn't that guy I guess. Also, the players this year seem to have to grit. Last year there were finished checks, this year, bleh.
Every player that is traded from the Leafs kills them. Every fvcking one.
@Mind Bomb @Keon_is_my_Captain Actually, Davie Keon is my all time favorite Leaf. #retire14now

Calling up Ashton and sending Holland down... maybe they want to give Holland more minutes?
@Yaknowwhat Still beats Healy all to shit though.
1 year ago on GDT: Islanders at Maple Leafs (7 p.m., TSN)
@hometeem They should pick the team based on putting the best team on the ice regardless of where they play or where they are from. And the media and people from the other leagues should accept that.
