Our last six goals and none of them have been 5 on 5 (empty netter was 6 on 5 but obviously doesnt count as a special teams goal).

@Bring back Langdon ...I think you mean we have guys who can distribute the puck but no one who is a pure goal scorer. Aside from Nash (who isn't cutting it) who else can score goals?

So. I know there's time left in the season before we really have to start worrying about this but. What do you think happens to Stralman? I'm curious since with the cap not projected to go up as high as we all expected (hearing 68 mill), and with having 4 defensemen already signed at 2.9 mill or higher, it's possible once we sign Moore (I think he gets resigned...still young and full of potential) for a bridge deal of less than 2 million I would imagine, Stralman could demand over 3 million. I think we either resign Diaz or hope Allen/McIlrath are ready.
That being said, I also believe picking up Klein gives McIlrath a couple more years to truly develop and be the defensemen we want him to be. Curious as to what people think about Stralmans future with the team.

So. It's nice to see the energy. But. This is just annoying at this point. If that penalty shot is the reason we lose...fuck.

I love Cally and at first glance, even at 6 million it's still a bit too pricey. Now. If history were different. If he had been able to remain healthy in previous seasons...this deal could actually be a bargain. Looking at his numbers from 2010-2011 he played 60 games and ended the season with 23 goals and 25 assists. In a full 82 game season, that would project to be 31 goals and 34 assists. In 2011-2012 he finished with 77 games and 29 goals with 25 assists. Again, that would pan out to be a 31 goal and 34 assists season. Then last year in the lockout he played in 45 games (most of them injured with a shoulder issue) and he finished with 16 goals and 15 assists. In a full 82 game season he would have finished with 29 goals and 27 assists.
The biggest issue with Cally is obviously that he cannot stay healthy. The guy has talent (...more than I realized actually) and he does all the little things as well. If Callahan can somehow avoid the injury bug and play at the pace he's shown he can play at...this deal may not be that bad. But there's still too many variables for me to feel comfortable with giving him 6 years for 6 million. If it happens, it happens and that's that. All we can do is root for the guy and hope something changes.

@gravey94 Brass may actually be a realistic possibility. He is a RFA next season so while Sather will play hard ball, I would imagine he would still listen to potential offers for him. Especially since Brass could try and demand a pretty hefty asking price of near $4 million.

@NYrangers79 @gravey94 Nope. He's an RFA.

@KreiderisTheChosenOne @JoshKaye As long as he doesn't want too much goddamn money. Sure. Why not.

In response to some of the posts about Stewart being in Buff. A friend of mine who follows the Sabres (poor soul) said Stewart will probably be traded as well with interest coming heavily from Ottawa. If Sather works quick, we can try to pick up Stewart and a 1st rounder for Cally and Buffalo can sign Cally to the extension he wants.
@NYrangers79 ...years are hardly the concern considering Cally wants $6.75 million...
I was thinking with watching Miller play, I get why he was put on the third line to take on Zucc's place instead of Dorsett. But do you think there's any possibility that AV and Sather want to see how Miller's game looks in the case of a Cally and see how comfortable Miller is taking on an increased load? Since it seems like AV is preparing for life without Cally which was made clear to me by putting Nash on the second PK unit with Dom Moore. It's an interesting situation that we're in right now with the trade rumors and everything.

1 week, 2 days ago on REPORT: St. Louis Still Demanding Trade, And Only To Rangers
@NYR44 MSL has expressed his desire to continue playing when his contract is finished. If he's still playing at a high level, we could even resign him if his time here has been going well for a one year deal and a not so crazy cap number.
...I get there are rumors and guarantees that Cally will be traded but the fact is he is still a Ranger and having him in the lineup gives us the best chance to win over Dorsett. Yeah, you risk injury. But you take Cally out while not having Zucc either...I'm sorry but it's a drastic difference. Until Cally is traded, he better be out there. As has been stated numerous times before, points are points and we're in a dogfight for a playoff spot.

Looking at this tweet makes me think it would have had to be someone on Canada-Sweden. I initially thought Gustav Nyquist could have been a possibility. Another name that's been thrown around is Marty St. Louis. Nyquist is my own speculation. St. Louis seems to be a popular one.

@Kevin DeLury @KreiderisTheChosenOne
I was thinking another Staal but Jordan. I just don't know if that would actually be a good trade. If it was just a skill player I would think possibly Skinner but I don't recall Skinner having much grit.
