I've never used anything other than yarn really, but I would like to try using plastic bags. I always use the recyclable bags when I go to buy groceries so I think it would be cool to use plastic bags to make some. I just need to find someone who knows how to make the yarn because I have no clue how to do that. I think there are some sites that tell you how to do it. I I imagine it takes a lot of cutting and twisting though, if only I had the time! Some other things I would like to try are wire, and jersey. You can make some cool jewelry crocheting with wires. And I've seen people make crochet things from old tshirts too.

I usually like making things for people when they aren't expecting it. Most of the time I'm happy to take requests but only if its something I would do for myself too, and then it takes me forever to do because I wont do it until I want to. I hate when people say "oh you crochet, can you make me this thing." Even if they pay me, it turns it into a chore and I don't want to do it anymore. I'd much rather teach someone to make something than make something for them. If its a surprise gift though I usually don't have a problem because I get excited about imagining their reaction upon receiving an unexpected gift. I don't think I could sell things either...repetition just kills it for me. I have to be doing something new each time. I guess I just enjoy the process just as much as the product. Some people are different though.
