Perhaps (and I'm just spitballin' here) the carriers could provide true unlimited data to those who did pay retail for their smartphone.
If paying for an off contract phone would cut the cell bill then I believe far more would be choosing the option. However, those who paid for their phone in full pay the exact same rates as those whose phone was subsidized. The carriers would love to see someone pay full fare and then not have to subsidize a phone.
Part of the reason is manufacturers and service providers do not like that ICS allows endusers to "disable" their bloatware that Gingerbread forces the consumers to "deal with".
Why hurry with ICS if the numbers of slaves to VZW Navigator; V Cast, etc are freed?
Why go to ICS if the user will be easier able to load a new ROM and get rid of the manufacturer UI designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator of teenage girls?
I hate the 9-game suggestion. Just because lesser conferences do it does it make it more plausible. It's simply unreasonable to have half the league have 1 more home game than the other half. Then with the teams that have an annual neutral site game, that gives them even more of an advantage.
The only way to make 9 work at all is to keep the divisions and let entire division have the extra game and alternate every season. Then force the neutral site teams to suck it up and play home-home.
Keep it at 8 games and make it work.
