@ObviouslyWeHadAGoodRun TG apparently replaced Dorsett, who was making about $1.6...do I think the TG signing was sound? No, but from a strictly financial standpoint it is saving Sather a few sheckels

It won't happen, but the remaining RFAs should take a few pesos less on their deals to make sure we can squeeze a decent addition like Booth in....

The other aspect of this signing that has been largely overlooked is that those fans that own a Boyle #22 Ranger jersey get to keep them relevant ;-)

@gravey94 @Picaz77 at this point, if McIlrath can hold his own on the 3rd pair within the next 2 seasons and play like Klein with more toughness, I 'd be ecstatic. However, if Girardi/Boyle/Klein don't miss time due to injury, he may not got too much ice time, but not a bad problem to have...

@MikeBlue sather is horrible at signing free agents but almost never makes a bad trade....you can rag on him all you want and some of it is justified, but the last three seasons has been all his work and you should praise him

@dahjay we got the real boyle now...
@Hockey1982 @pkh33 omg i can't believe the love for the frightening all of a sudden...boyle is going to tip the balance of power in the east!!
@Sioux-per-man @pkh33 wait so by acquiring garrison, stralman and the lesser boyle they have vaulted over the rangers??? remember how montreal swept them....??! omg
@SmellyKisio boyle better play on that 3rd line in tampon bay or he's a liar...or yzerman is
@Bring back Langdon @KevinTheNYRBlog are the fish the lightning?
@IhateGaborik @Bring back Langdon @Josh-CK well worth it...to make that amazing run for the title would have been impossible without St.Louis!
@MikeBlue @upstate tom The West is too loaded, they can't keep outlasting the field out there...seasons change
@Say my Name Agreed.Looking forward to JT Miller to fill his void, but one thing Richards did well was NOT take dumb penalties, and Miller....not so much...
@rangersfan92 Vrabata would be optimal, but he's too much $$$
@Dminches if Pouliot and Stralman can take major steps in one season, why not Miller? He was a first-round talent...
@AnnoyingJoe youth will be served next season
@Say my Name Agreed, but AV has had Glass before and he sees him as half-full :-)
@_Jack read more articles
@upstate tom Dan Boyle has played at least 75 games in 5 of the last 6 seasons....injury concerns??
The Glass signing is a total mystery...AV seems infatuated with him, makes no sense....and 3 years~!!! This is Brashear The Sequel

@betweentheworlds 100% agree
@Josh-CK Just my gut, I think they sign Moore and Poops, and Stralman and Boyle walk.
@Say my Name I hate to speculate BUT I wonder if we could have convinced Yzerman to take Girardi instead of Callahan straight up for St.Louis, bumped both Stralman and Klein up a notch, started Diaz on the 3rd pairing...what might have been....we would still have a free-agent-to-be in Cally but probably both of our #1 draft picks...but as bad as Girardi played in the Finals, we might have had a parade in NYV last week...!
3 weeks, 6 days ago on Conversation @ http://nyrangersblog.com/2014-articles/retain-or-release-anton-stralman.html
@Say my Name The analysis above, as well as my own eyes, tells me that he must be hurt. A few of his mishaps were unbelievably gruesome and looked almost deliberate, almost like his head was elsewhere. While he's not stud D-man, he's above-average but G is more suited for 2nd-pair minutes and matchups (were he not right-handed, he wouldn't be on the first pair with McD, that's obvious). I was in favor of Sather trading him at the deadline, but I think he was asking way too much...c'est la vie. LGR!!!

The bridges, and the impetus behind them (money), look horrific, but I will wait until opening night to make a more informed judgement. But in a world-class renovation or new arena there should be NO obstructions whether it's the playing surface, scoreboard, other part of the arena,...this looks like something you might see in the USSR back in the 70s or something. Simply no excuse for the nauseating greed of cramming more seats in.

Is it too late to somehow have these idiotic bridges scrapped??? They might as well allow fans to just walk on the ice during games, an equally dumb idea!
OK, sounds good on paper, but how do you make that strategy work when Lucic camps his big butt right in front of Henrik??
1 year ago on Rangers Officially Name Samuelsson, Arniel Assistant Coaches
Appears to be a very good deal for the Rangers.
1 year ago on Rangers Trade Christian Thomas To Canadiens For Danny Kristo
When the core players stop playing for the coach, it is time for a change...hard for anyone to argue that point. As for if AV is the cure for what ails the Rangers, I for one am excited about what I am hearing, especially the part about how AV likes to roll 4 lines and not give any one player crazy minutes.

Slat is a genius when it comes to trading...just keep his checkbook locked up when the free agent store is open ;-p
I support Torts's decision to pull Henrik during the power play at the end of the game, it's a risk he had to take, since a mere one-man advantage wasn't going to get it done last night.

Clowe is EXACTLY what the Rangers need right now. From what my California connection tells me, he's Prust but with more size and skill - YES, please! This year, if the Ramgers play Ottawa, Clowe will be on the ice to provide Chris Neil with a more suitable dance partner :-p and if it's Boston, then Mr. Lucic better keep his head up. There, doesn't that put it in perspective??!! Draft picks are nice to have but I believe Sather stockpiled 3rd-rounders this year, and you have to give up something to get something in return. They need scoring, too, but let's face it, you're not going to get Steven Stamkos at the trading deadline lol.
1 year, 3 months ago on Making Sense of the Ryane Clowe Trade
He probably won't be a first-liner in the NHL, but would be surprised if he isn't a big contributor on a Cup-contending team.

@AG_Blue @KevinDeLury A nice pipedream, but with Nashville also losing Suter, they would want a D-man in return for Weber in any deal...

2 years, 4 months ago on Gaborik Voted 31st Best Player in the NHL | March
@KevinDeLury I think Sather won't cave...either he makes "his deal" or he walks. I don't think you will see him deal anyone more than Dubi or AA off of the current roster and JT Miller and/or Christian Thomas and picks. The Columbus GM has to know that Nash's huge cap hit is a giant albatross that neutralizes his trade value.
2 years, 4 months ago on Rangers Looking at Other Options | February
@cb1 Just from all of the Ranger blogs I have read...
2 years, 5 months ago on Melrose: Rangers Need to Be Concerned With Who They Give Up for Nash | February
I think all this speculation is interesting but i think it's fairly moot since Columbus wants a very good goaltender prospect, so it would seem LA and Boston are more feasible landing spots than the Rangers. I don't think Columbus would trade Nash before the deadline without getting a goaltender unless they are overwhelmed with the return, which hopefully is something Sather will not be a party to...
@Beckfan5 Sather has been a crappy free agent acquirer but a savvy trader, so I feel safer now than I would after the season is over. I think he is on the same page as Torts and that's a very good thing. My feeling is that he will make a trade to energize the offense but it won't be Nash . I would love to pick up Selanne, but it sounds as though he is staying put (rooting for the Ducks to lose!).
2 years, 5 months ago on Penguins 2, Rangers 0 | February
We need Malkin not Nash...
@JoshKaye Agreed, the guy is a stud, just listen to some of the comments the Ranger players made about him. It just comes down to his cap hit and the assets we have to give up to acquire him. Sather has been a very savvy trader, so hopefully that trend continues and doesn't make a move just for the sake of making a big splash at the deadline.
2 years, 5 months ago on Acquiring Nash Could Signal End for Gaborik | February
@BuckarooClub@ChrisP@IMLazzaro But Kreider was drafted out of high school, if he was in this year's draft he would be much higher than the #19 pick.
2 years, 5 months ago on Rangers Concerned About Price for Nash | February
@Beckfan5@HZimm@AG_Blue@Volcom955 Let's see what happens the rest of the way, but right now I would say I would keep MDZ, Prust, Mitchell and Bickel, who also seem to favored by Torts.
2 years, 5 months ago on Rangers Have Preliminary Talks With Columbus About Nash | February
@Beckfan5@NoticeOtis It's not Sather's trades that are the problem, it's his FA signings...he has been an astute trader for the most part the past 5 years or so...correcting his huge mistake in signing Scott Gomez by trading him to MTL for McDonagh, Higgins+ was a winner, and allowed him to sign Gaborik.
@acourtz those players are going nowhere, especially for a player whose cap hit will be close to $8 mill/year. Nash would be a great addition but not if it means chipping away too much at the team core.
Has anyone seen any hockey prognosticators predict where Kreider would rank if he were available in this year's amateur draft? Just curious...
