I think they look great Kathryn - very colorful - and they do resemble flowers of some sort.  Another idea you could try is something I do on my front porch that hardly gets any sun at all - get some fake flowers from the dollar store and 'plant' them in pots of dirt.  They kind of look real as long as you're not too close to them.  :)

I prefer the simpler patterns - I like to relax when I'm crocheting and watching TV.  Intricate patterns require too much concentration for me and I always get irritated because I end up ripping out more than I care to.  :)

No - I don't think crochet is for poor people.  It is for creative people.  :)

I love your hallway rugs Kathryn.  Line the backs of them with the rubberized shelf liner (I've bought mine at the Dollar Tree) and you should have no problem with them slipping and sliding.  :)
