Whenever McCallum and/or McLemore are in and IT is at the point, they and most anyone not named Cousins rarely see the ball even if they are open. IT, you can't live without him but can a growing young team live with him in that mode? Solution to the apparent dilemma is not easy. But what is the next step?

Holding opponents to under 40% shooting is defense as is fast break advantage of 29-5. When you score 110 or 115 thats a lot more ops for a poor shooting team. The Kings are in the infancy stage of Malones' defensive culture and a bunch of new players just learning to play together under a new coach and a new plan. In the past those 10-15 pt leads in the fourth would disappear quicker than a joint at a Buffet concert. Now by playing defense they are winning some of those and within a basket or two of winning another 4-5 of the past 10. So, reality shows their defense is mucho better when compared to anything in the past 5 years or so.

Guess I've been watching a different Kings team that, compared to the past 5 years, are finally playing like a team, moving the ball more, getting younger and sharing the ball. But all the improving takes time, a lot of time as improvements come in very small increments and on-court chemistry takes a year or two to build into consistent winning. I like what I see as a no BS approach to defending first which results in more fast break points, more steals and ultimately fewer opponent points. But it will take time. A year or two. I'm willing to watch and wait.
